Right, as soon as I can get more money into my account, and overcome my shyness with a little more free time, then I might consider asking someone out on a date. But since I've got a lot of work to be doing (Both recreational and fun), it might be a while.

and i can relate to those who say that they're shy, etc. otakus like us have no communication skills, especially since we use email and I.M.'s and forums just like this one all the time. even if we DO have something in common with a girl, we can't really elaborate on it that easily. and once that's said and done, there's either an awkward silence, or an equally awkard random question we try to ask the girl in an desperate effort to keep the conversation going that usually ends up with a short and/or stupid response.

i think the main reason why we otakus can't get any is simply because the gaming community is overwhelmingly male, and any girls who are into anime usually are into the stuff the guys hate (YAOI, HINT HINT). another theory is that most otakus aren't very attractive appearance-wise anyway, no offense to anyone here. let's face it - we're usually too busy sitting at the computer/TV playing games, watching anime, or conversing amongst our Internet acquaintances that we don't get off our asses and do any vigorous physical activity. again, i don't mean to offend anyone with these comments, but it's something to think about. =/

When you "get to know a girl" (I presume the dating is the "let's try things out" kinda date) do you spent money every time you do something?

I personally don't pay much. My girlfriend's from a poor family (I'm poor but she unfortunately got the wrong side of the wall) so when I get her things she gets rather mad (well she loves the gift but she just flips out) because she "knows she can't get me anything in return". I don't show up with a ring, or a necklace, or whatever. I show up with random stupidies.

I'm glad she appreciates that random side. A lot of the people I know end up getting used to my hyperactivity. Those who can't stand me just go away. Haha.

So I don't spend much. Maybe a bus ticket for her (I use a bus pass, I would gladly buy her one but she doesn't live in the same area as me [I'm 514 and she's 450]).

About that dating bit, everyone around me tried "test dating" (as they call it up here). You like this person, ask them out. Impress them somehow, see each other again, if it works, then the relationship starts. I always just... talked to the person and little by little I would show more and more trust (I've had a few nukes before, so I'm not too stable if you get my drift) and eventually.. *pop*

i think deep down, we can all say that, BIG-K14. i'd love to have a gf, but at my current status, i think it'd be impractical. i'm going to wait until AFTER college, AFTER i get a steady career and income, and last but not least, AFTER i get my fucking driver's license. i'd hate to get an awesome chick to like me and then dump me afterwards simply because i couldn't support her as much as my love for her would want me to. =/

My longest relationship is 7 months. It is also the one I'm currently in. My 2nd longest relationship was approximately 3 months, 90% of which was 3rd base in that baseball analogy.

eh, i would, but i think i'd feel guilty afterwards when i DID have a lasting relationship. i guess i'm just one of those kind of people who only want to give up their virginity to the person who they KNOW they're going to love, even if that does sound rather odd coming from a guy. =/

that, and one of my good friends had some really bad luck with random gf's... he actually got lucky and met up with this one chick he knew online for about 2 years, even had sex with her, but shortly afterward he heard she was cheating on him and they broke up. another of his gf's died in a car wreck, one Japanese chick he met online was banned by her father from talking to him (i think he was arranging a marriage for her anyway, which sucked), and one local girl he was going out with for a while broke up with him because she was scared he would have treated her like one of her previous bf's, who abused her. i just don't want to go through all that like he did (even though i probably will anyway), because i know it's got to suck... ;_;
