I know we've got people who play PSO here,but i was wondering if anyone else (like me) still plays Phantasy Star 1-4?

Still?  nah, haven't played in ages.  And I was never a big fan.
But like half the people I know are extreme EXTREME PS fans.  A couple won't even touch PSO because it's so radically different from PS it insults them.

wow....i must be a rare case then...i like PStar and PSO...as it is,the new Phantasy Star Universe which comes out in September(For PC,PS2 and Xbox 360) is similar to PSO,but it takes place back in the Algo Star System,where PStar 1-4 occurred.The PSO storyline is finished,but I'm hoping Dark Force/Dark Falz comes back,it was the main villian in PStar1-4 and PSO 1.

omg rly!?  Hey when I say never a big fan, that's not necessarily "not a big fan of the story".  I just couldn't get into the whole gameplay, battle system, and stuff... kinda frustrated me at first and I just couldn't keep my interest up.  The whole reason I DID play PS1, 2 and ....... damnit which one was with the main character who was a young kid with like blonde hair and that older lady who started out with him?  Was that 3?  I think it was 3.  Anyways, that one was good too; probably the one I could stand the most to play, though with the most forgettable storyline for me...

But anyways I DO like the story.  It's why I played the games in the first place.  For the longest time I didn't even know PSO had a storyline, and sometimes now I still linke tot hink of it as a "gaiden" completely unrelated to the main PS storyline.  But I loved the gameplay and game mechanics of the PSO series, even if P2P for that kind of ticked me off... like Diablo 2... not to mention it was a pain to get a phone line for my DC ^^  But anyways, a new PS game with the PS1-4 storyline but in PSo fashion might = kick ass?

PSO had a definate storyline.

First off,PSO uses one of the endings of Phantasy Star 3 as it's starting point. The cast of PStar 3(In the one ending),figures since they can't kill Dark Force/Dark Falz,they seal him magically on a spaceship and send it far away so he won't threaten Algo System anymore...

This ship lands on Ragol.The people of Coral go to Ragol to examine the Photon Energy.(An asteroid from Ragol hit Coral at one point,according to PSO 3's story.The people of Coral tracked the asteroid to Ragol.) A military team led by Heathcliff Flowen and assisted by Red Ring Rico explores the ship (They mistake it for ruins or a temple at first),but Flowen's team is killed by Dark Force.Dark Force spares Flowen,but infects him with the D-Cell parasites that the Ruins creatures are made of.Flowen manages to escape,but Rico appears to be the perfect host body Dark Force needs,so he possesses her. (He did the same thing to King Lassic in PStar 1,remember?)

Well,scientists like Dr.Osto experiment on Flowen,planting the Olga AI computer chips inside him.They also determine he is infected with Parasitic Gene 'Flow'.Osto figures if they use a human as a base subject,they can make a controllable D-Cell bioweapon.Osto smells military contracts,that sort of thing,money money money...
Flowen tries to send messages to Coral,warning them to stay away from Ragol,but Osto reads them and never sends them.He wants his 'grand experiments' to continue...he also made the MOTHER project which involves Calus,he also created Vol Opt and the CALS system.

Well,about this point,Dark Force causes the explosion that wipes out Osto and all the Pioneer 1 people.At the same time,Flowen and Rico's mental energy spikes (Even though Rico is fully possessed at this time),and two things happen.

1. Dark Force plants a seed into Ragol.

2. The infant who will one day be known as Endu is physically manifested.He is the equivelant of Flowen and Rico's son,even though Rico is around age 19 or 20 roughly,and Flowen is a much older guy.Flowen and Rico's mental energy created Endu,so no,Rico and Flowen did not have sex or anything like that.But their spirits guide Endu's path in life,kinda like Obi-wan guided Luke in the original Star Wars movies.Flowen teaches Endu how to swordfight and combat skills,Rico teaches Endu to have patience and not overdo things,and in general,have faith in his life and his destiny.

This is when the group of characters you play in PSO 1 happen on the scene.

From then it's a few months untill PSO 2,the exact time is undetermined,even by Sega.The Lab is getting radio messages from Flowen,but when you finally get to him,it's too late.He has mutated into the entity known as Olga Flow.

From then,it's about 21 years until the CARD Revolution.Even though PSO 3 doesn't play like PSO 1 and 2,it is a sequel that wraps up the storyline.In PSO 3,the Arkz (They use 'creature' CARDS) are trying to expose the lies of the Principal Government.The Principal Government is using the Hunters (they use 'item' CARDS) to fight the Arkz.Principal Government is trying to control CARD technology,and will not tell people that the 'Germ' used to make CARDS will slowly poison people to death,and drive them insane in the process.

Meanwhile,remember that seed Dark Force planted????Well,it's a huge mass of evil by now,and if it isn't killed,it will give birth to a reincarnation of Dark Force,and Ragol will become total hell again,like it was in PSO 1 and 2.The different characters of PSO 3 have their own story,and it's usefull to beat the game with Sil'fer,Kranz, Ino'lis,Break, Endu and Lura to get the full details.There's also illegal government cloning going on amidst the chaos of PSO 3.But when PSO 3 is beaten,it ends the PSO saga.

That's why PSU is being set in the Algo Star System.Sega has offically ended the Ragol storyline.But...i still like to write tons of PSO fics set on Ragol...Maybe when my Megaman series is done i'll do some more PSO fics for this site.

I've played PS2, PS3, and PS4.  PS4 was my favorite and the only one I've managed to complete.  I got pretty far in PS3, but my save data got erased somehow and I never got back into it.    My favorite character in any series has to be Wren.

Sounds like part 4 to me.  That was the one with the manga-style cutscenes.

yeah,Chaz in PStar 4 is blond,and he starts out with Alys(her name in the Japan PStar 4 is Leila,i was reading that on Gamefaqs.The offical Alis from Japan is in PStar 1)

That reminds me, one of those PS fan friends I have uses the screenname "Chazz" for bloody everything online. (yes he knows it's one 'z' he's just like that)

Wasn't Phantasy Star 1 on the 8-bit Sega?  The earliest Sega console I owned was a 16-bit Genesis and PS 4 was my formal introduction to the series.  I liked the mix of magic and sci-fi(interplanetary travel was one of my favorite aspects of the story).  I really liked the music in PS4, too.  NURVUS had a really catchy tune to it and Dark Force's battle theme was pretty cool.

Yup...Phantasy Star 1 was on the Sega Master System.PStar 2-4 were on Genesis.

I had a hard time trying to find 1-3 on their original systems,that's why I ended up getting Phantasy Star Collection for GBA...it's PStar 1-3 on one cart.I play it on my Gamecube's Gameboy Player alot.

The only Master System game i have is Ghostbusters...lol...I also have the Power Base Convertor,so i can play Master System Ghostbusters on my Genesis.
