Wow.... How do you make those hybrid symbol things? Even I couldn't pull that one off.

It's easy - type the letter for one colored mana symbol first (W, U, B, R, or G), then type a forward slash and the other colored mana symbol.  For example, to make the ones used in my Edward card, type U/R or R/U (I think either way will produce the same symbol).  If you're still getting text, highlight what you've typed and then click the star-shaped button to change the text into symbols.  Oh, and one more thing that you may not know - to make a snow mana symbol (like the ones used in the recent Coldsnap expansion), type S.

I recently made myself a new deck based off of one posted on Pojo.com a while back.  It uses Sacred Phoenix of Nephtys, Dark Dust Spirit, and Treeborn Frog to constantly nuke the field of everything!  You use Mystic Tomato, Sangan, and Apprentice Magician to search out your Pheonix and Frog, then tribute the frog for Dark Dust Spirit while the Phoenix is on the field.  Dark Dust Spirit will destroy all face-up monsters except himself and then (possibly) swing for 2200 damage.  On your next Standby Phase, summon the Phoenix from your graveyard, nuking all spells and traps on the field.  Then, during the same standby phase, summon Treeborn Frog from your graveyard, since you don't have any spells or traps out now.  Then tribute him for Dark Dust Spirit all over again!

The deck, although cheaply powerful when you get it going, has some major weaknesses I'm trying to compensate for.  First of all, after you nuke everything with Phoenix and Dark Dust Spirit, when he comes back to your hand at the end of the turn, you're wide open.  Thus, I've thrown in 3 Kuribohs to help block any battle damage in case my opponent manages to topdeck and summon a monster to attack me.  Second of all, trap cards have very limited use in this deck - they're only good for a turn or so if you get the combo going.  Still, I've included 3 Negate Attacks, a Magic Cylinder, and a Ring of Destruction to help guard against possible attackers.  Finally, face-down monsters aren't affected by Dark Dust Spirit's nuking effect, so I may not get the damage in that I need, or I could encounter a nasty flip effect.  For these, I could just simply decide not to use the combo and react accordingly, or use good old cards like Nobleman of Crossout or Ceasefire.

I also threw in some good standards such as D.D. Warrior Lady, D.D. Assailant, Breaker the Magical Warrior, Magician of Faith, etc.  I'll probably also throw in Pot of Avarice, since a lot of my own monsters might end up getting nuked.  Lemme know what you guys think!

On a side note, a few weeks ago I entered a local tournament (though it was highly disorganized).  My first opponent turned out to be a Level 1 Judge, and he stomped the hell out of my water deck with his machine deck.  Makes me want to build one myself so badly...  I DID manage to get an original Cyber Dragon out of a trade that day, though.  Anyone who's still playing the game (or wants to get back into it) should try to find as many copies of this guy as possible, as he's in high demand.  Other than finding a good deal on eBay, I'd suggest trying to find the recent tin version of him that came out in your local stores.  It costs around $20-$25 and also comes with several booster packs.  Whatever you do, don't make the mistake I did and trade a Cyber Dragon off, or a Cyber-Stein for that matter...  >_<;

I'd also keep an eye out for this new structure deck in the future:

So far, I'm just done for Miyama, but I couldn't decide if I should send her in her regular clothes, or her bathing suit. Both versions sound so inviting, yet scary  at the same time!

And it's virtually hard to get good shots of Miyama due to the contrast of the TV series and the OVAS. I kinda like the OVAs better, but the TV version looked like she got lyposuction, but she can still move around with the best of them.

Just curious, what series is this Miyama from??

I'd just use whatever image seems more appropriate for the card you're trying to make.  Keep in mind that if you have multiple images, you could always make card types other than creature - instants or sorceries, for example.  Or, you could make multiple versions of the same creature, if you so desire.

Here's the current list for that deck I mentioned earlier, although I'm needing a witty name for it...  any suggestions/comments are always appreciated.  Oh, and I finally got smart and reduced my normal deck size down to 40 cards, as recommended - it really does make a difference.

CREATURES (21)

Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys
Dark Dust Spirit x2
Treeborn Frog
Hand of Nephthys x2
Apprentice Magician x2
Mystic Tomato x3
Sangan
D.D. Warrior Lady
D.D. Assailant
Breaker the Magical Warrior
Spirit Reaper
Old Vindictive Magician
Kuriboh x3
Magician of Faith

SPELLS (12)

Last Will
Pot of Avarice
Graceful Charity
Swords of Revealing Light
Nobleman of Crossout
Creature Swap x2
Smashing Ground
Lightning Vortex
Heavy Storm
Mystical Space Typhoon
Premature Burial

TRAPS (7)

Negate Attack x3
Magic Cylinder
Ring of Destruction
Ceasefire
Call of the Haunted

If anyone else is still playing Yugioh or Magic, I'd love to see some decklists.

Miyama is from the Magic Users Club. It's either her first name or her last name, even the dubbing cast gets it mixed up.

Mizuha Miyama.
Miyama Mizuha.

Oh, and as for your Phoenix Deck, I'd call it by the lines of
Bye Bye Birdie
Or Death and Rebirth of Nephytis.

It's up to you man.

Actually, I was kinda thinking about implementing the "Sup guys fried chicken" thing into it somehow, lol...

Btw, is there anyway else left on this forum who stills plays either Magic or Yugioh??  I'm starting to think I'm the only one now, since no one's posted any decklists lately...  ;_;

Cheer up Tetsaru, I got some deck ideas I've been working on for the last few years, primarly for a fiend destruction deck, involving some cool Dark World monsters.

On a similar note, what Yu-Gi-Oh card would we create if the contest was more open to all ages? I'm not going to use the Magic Set Editor cause they make Yu-Gi-Oh cards look.... Not like Yu-Gi-Oh cards.

I have a vast imagination, and a whole set of cards. I'm not sure if I should create a Dark World card or an Elemental Villain card (Yes, I said VILLAIN, not HERO, since there's too many of them.)

UPDATE: I would be interested in seeing a new Spirit Card that will focus on summoning those spirit monsters much easier.

Some announcements in the card game world:

Remember when McDonald's had that Yugioh promotion a while back where they put cards in the happy meals?  Well, they're doing it again, and the cards (some of them, anyway) are a lot better off this time.  Look for Elemental Hero Electrum, an alternate art Elemental Hero Burstinatrix, White-Horn Dragon, and The Flute of Summoning Kuriboh, to name a few.

Also, Magic is having its prerelease of the Planar Chaos set on Jan. 20 and 21.  If you manage to go to one of these events, keep an eye out for one of these:

I can't wait to see the spoiler list for this set!  They just seem to come out with crazier and crazier stuff...

"Magic: The Gathering... Getting crazier and crazier since 1996!"

1993, actually...  Yugioh came out in '96.  But yeah, who cares...  =/

I decided to call my new deck simply "Pheonix Destruction."  Haven't really had the chance to play against anyone lately, though...  guess I'll have to wait until Midsouthcon.  It sucks that Arkansas doesn't have that many tournament locations that I could get involved with...  perhaps I should try to get an account online...

Some other decks I'm wanting to build in the future:  for Yugioh, a machine deck and a warrior/Elemental Heroes or Destiny Heroes deck.  For Magic, a Sliver deck and a blue/white control deck that utilizes a lot of counters, bouncing and tapping permanents, and mana taxing against my opponent.  Anyone who's familiar with the current metagame and knows of any good RECENT cards (as in Ravnica block, 9th edition, and Time Spiral block), combos, or decks, please let me know.  I probably won't be able to build anything anytime soon, but I'm still open to suggestions.

I'm also still open to anyone else's deck ideas, as I'm curious to see what other people like to play and would happy to offer any help or advice if necessary.  Post deck lists if you've got em!

Well, here's a Noah Kaiba Spirit Deck that I am working on. Advice is greatly appreciated on how to incorporate these spirit monsters.

HMMMM...  looks like this could use some work.  Here's my advice:

I believe I counted 53 cards in your deck.  That's a BIG no-no.  Cut it down as close to 40 as you can.

Fiber Jar, Witch of the Black Forest, Tsukuyomi, Sinister Serpent, Yata Garasu, Change of Heart, Monster Reborn, Dark Hole, and Harpies Feather Duster - all currently banned, unless you're doing Traditional format, which I don't see many people doing that much anymore.  Here's a link to the list of what to be aware of:

http://entertainment.upperdeck.com/yugioh/en/gameplay/forbidden/advanced_current.aspx

Well, to be quite honest man, this deck has no flow or strategy whatsoever.  Most people today don't run Spirits due to the fact that 1. - they don't maintain good field prescence, 2. - a lot of them have to get in battle damage in order for their effects to work, 3. - level 5+ Spirits have to re-use tributes, and 4. - THEY CAN'T BE SPECIAL SUMMONED PERIOD.  That means no Monster Reborn/Premature Burial/Call of the Haunted, no "tutor" monsters (like Mystic Tomato, etc.), no nothing.  You should only run Spirits if they combo well with something (i.e., Dark Dust Spirit with Sacred Pheonix of Nephthys and Treeborn Frog in my "Pheonix Destruction" deck).  Tsukuyomi was used a lot due to her useful Book of Moon effect, which could negate numerous effects and help take out high-ATK monsters, but she's banned now (and Book of Moon is now limited to 1)... and we all know about the infamous Yata-lock...  >_<  Also, be aware that if a Spirit monster ever gets destroyed, tributed, discarded, or removed from play, it DOES NOT go back to your hand at the End Phase.

Spiritual Energy Settle Machine is cool and all, but like any other Continuous Spell/Trap, Field Spell, or Equip Spell, you have to watch out for removal (speaking of which, I'm surprised you didn't add in a Mystical Space Typhoon or Dust Tornado in your deck).  From what I've heard, the Monarch cards have been popular recently, and I can tell you right now that some people prefer Mobius the Frost Monarch over using Jinzo:

It's good that you decided to run 3 copies of it, but always be cautious of relying on one specific card - you'll need ways to search your deck for it and/or recover it (another surprise - no Magician of Faith!).  Remember in my old water deck how I threw in a Terraforming to help find A Legendary Ocean?  Also, Spiritual Energy Settle Machine would've negated some of your "come-into-play" effects, such as those of Tsukuyomi and Dark Dust Spirit, which should be utilized over and over again... and that can only happen if they DO go back to your hand so that they can be re-summoned.

Also, ALWAYS remember the "staples" if you need some support.  Cards such as Sangan, D.D. Warrior Lady, Magician of Faith, Cyber Dragon, Mystical Space Typhoon, Lightning Vortex, Sakuretsu Armor, Mirror Force, etc. will fit into practically ANY deck, more or less (as long as they aren't banned, lol - be sure to check the list often).  It would be foolish not to run them.

Another thing I noticed was that you threw in Shinato, King of a Higher Plane.  WHY?!?  He has absolutely NO place in your deck!  Ritual Monsters, to this day, still have little support going for them - Manju of the Ten Thousand Hands is about the only worthwhile Ritual support, imo.  Granted that Shinato is one of the better Ritual Monsters out there, with only one copy each of the monster and its Ritual Spell in a 53 card deck, he's nothing but a dead draw, especially seeing how you won't have any monsters to tribute... because they'll always be going back to your hand!

Finally, be aware that throwing in cards that all share a similar theme is not always a good idea (especially if you're trying to copy a theme from the anime/manga - the real card game is much different!).  It's important to read the effects of each card carefully to see how well they work together.

Sorry if I completely mutilated your deck there, LordRyunson, but I promise you that that deck would've gotten PWNED in a competitive environment - it just has no synergy.  =(

Well you're right. My Spirit Deck does need work, and Shinato is Noah's trademarked monster.

I am also working on an insect deck revolving around the Insect Queen. Got any suggestions for cards of that nature?

Insect Queen, eh?  Let's take a look:

2200 ATK for 2 tributes.  Yuck.

"You cannot declare an attack with this card without Tributing 1 monster on your side of the field.  Very much yuck...

"Increase the ATK of this card by 200 points for each face-up Insect-Type monster on the field."  This effect would bring its ATK up to 2400 on its own (unless its Type got changed somehow), which is still horrible for 2 tributes - Dark Magician could run over that.

"Special Summon 1 'Insect Monster Token' (Insect-Type/EARTH/1 Star/ATK 100/DEF 100) in Attack Position on your side of the field during the End Phase of each turn that this card destroys your opponent's monster."  Okay, so it can boost its ATK further by producing Insects... but summoning them in Attack Position at the End Phase of your turn ONLY IF you killed an opponent's monster with this already low-ATK monster??  That's just asking for trouble.  I say no towards using this card.

I once tried to make an Insect deck, and one thing I noticed about them was that Insects have more "tutor" monsters than any other type:  Gokipon, Howling Insect, Pinch Hopper, and perhaps even Flying Kamakiri #1, with Howling Insect being the best.  Now that I look at it, you could probably use him to summon your Insect Queen, if you wanted, although I still wouldn't run it.  You'll probably want to stick with 3 Howling Insects and 3 Pinch Hoppers, though - Gokipon's pretty much just a Sangan for Insects, plus his artwork creeps me out...  >_<

There are also a buttload of other good Insects:  Chainsaw Insect, Saber Beetle, Doom Dozer, Anteatereatingant, Needle Worm, Skull-Mark Ladybug, Swarm of Scarabs, Swarm of Locusts, Man-Eater Bug, 4-Starred Ladybug of Doom, 8-Claws Scorpion, the Ultimate Insect LV monsters (if you can summon them properly - try to get your opponent to destroy a Howling Insect with the last attack of their Battle Phase, then summon LV1 and upgrade him your next turn!), Insect Knight, Silent Insect, Arsenal Bug, Parasite Paracide (which could work with Insect Queen, Insect Princess, and Insect Barrier, although I'm not sure if there are any rulings against being able to put it on top of your opponent's deck when you shuffle it, as that's what me and my friends always did when we used to run it), Atomic Firefly...  that's about all I can think of, but that's PLENTY, just look up the ones you're not familiar with and run the ones you like (without putting in too many, of course!).  I'd also suggest running Prickle Fairy - although she's a Plant, she's an awesome defensive monster that can protect your Insect monsters from attacks.

Although there are a ton of good Insect monsters, unfortunately there aren't many good Spells or Traps specifically for them...  Insect Imitation is about the only one I can think of, and you might be able to make use of DNA Surgery.   Don't forget the "staples" if you have holes to fill.  Hope that helps you.  ^_^

Well, now I plan to make a deck revolving around Barrel Dragon and Blowback Dragon. Those cards, in my opinion, are two of the greatest cards out there.

If possible, I could combine my Insect Queen with my Barrel Dragon monsters, and with the right spell and trap cards, they will be unbeatable!

Show me an interesting combo with this; otherwise, I wouldn't suggest combining those two themes.  Insects and Machines have no support for each other and would make your deck huge and unplayable if you even tried, so do one or the other.  Machines on their own are up there with Warriors in terms of overall strength now - I'd suggest looking into them.  I'd make my own Machine deck had I the right cards...

Btw, Cyber-Stein has been re-banned, in case you haven't noticed.  No more Cyber End Dragon One-Turn KO decks for you.  =P

Then if Insects and Machines can't help each other, then what types DO help each other? They should come out with new cards that support both Insect Queen and Barrel dragon, whether it be a fusion or an equipment card. Enough with the Elemental and Destiny Heroes! You think kids would want to be Jaden cause of him winning all the time with those dorky heroes?

I faced a person with an Elemental/Destiny Hero deck, and I still PWNED him. He sometimes PWNED me because he used the anime effects and not the real one.

I always liked spikes in MTG better than anything.
I dunno why, just one of my first booster decks and something about the lil' guys with a crapload of tokens littering the card table... gives me an odd sense of joy inside.

But eh, I dunno about mtg lately... getting kind of out of hand >_>

Hey anybody ever played the star wars card game?

I'd check the last twelve pages but I'm not retarded enough for that.
Used to play that around same time as mtg back in high school days.
