What characters do you play as in what games and why?

I play a variety of fighting games.  Some 2D, some 3D.  Some popular, some obscure.  The following is a list of characters I rock with.  You don't necessarily have to rock with a character to list them.

Melty Blood React: I've yet to get more than 9 hits out of Shiki's combos. Though he has little combo potential compared to Arcruied and Akiha, what he lacks in consecutive hits he more than makes up for in speed and damage output.  That, and his three or four frames of invincibility in his forward dash let me go into ground combos on the fly.  I'm also pretty damn good with Miyako, though nowhere near as good as some of the things I've seen in her combo videos.

Third Strike: I use Ibuki.  High school ninja girls are the best!

Guilty Gear  XX Reloaded: I use Johnny as my main and Sol as my backup character.  I'm much more proficient with Johnny than Sol.  The only reason I use Sol as a backup at all is because he's easy to use, most of his moves are spammable, and his attacks are effective.  Only a few people have been able to beat my Johnny consecutively.

Waku Waku 7: Arina!  Not only does she hit hard, but she looks good doing it!  Tight blue spandex is the way of the future!  My Slash is alright, I use Dandy J decently, but out of all of the fighters I do great with Arina and slightly above average with Tesse.

Vampire Savior, Night Warriors, et al: Hsien-ko.  She uses a more defensive playing style that's unlike mine, but I play as her anyway because I like the character so much.

Tekken 5: Wang is my mang.  I know his move list inside and out thanks to a tournament I spent a month practicing for(I lost in the quarter-finals).  I've always favored playing as main characters, so I use Kazuya and Heihachi often as well.

Any Capcom fighting game involving Ryu except Third Strike: After I saw Street Fighter: The Animated movie way back in the day, I've been playing Ryu ever since.  I don't use him in Third Strike, though in the original SF games and Alpha he's my stock character.  I've never met a boss I couldn't beat with Ryu.

Garou: The Mark of the Wolves:  I've only recently begun playing Garou, but on average I stick with Kim Jae Hoon and Marco Rodriguez.  I really hate how slow Terry plays in Garou.  It's like all of his special moves have a second long startup time.

King of Fighters(All versions): "Camh un, get serhious!"  Because I've been playing Fatal Fury ever since the Super Nintendo version of Fatal Fury 2 was released I always gotta use Terry Bogard.  IMO, he's the coolest SNK character ever made.  I wish I knew how to use Angel and I'm partial to Ryo and Yuri.

Art of Fighting: It's all about Ryo!  End of story!  Robert Garcia can't hold a candle to him and Ryo punches Mr. Karate--Bam!  Right in the face!  Get out of here!  The man with the big beak was Ryo and Yuri's father! =D

Mortal Kombat: I don't play Mortal Kombat.  Not seriously, and not as a joke either.  When I played I'd use Scorpion, but otherwise, I got tired of how all of the character's had the same regular moves. Not to mention, I've always been more interested in gameplay, and MK's gameplay always took a backseat to its violence.  I hear the newer versions of MK are worth playing, but I honestly think there hasn't been a good MK game released since Mortal Kombat 2.

Evil Zone (Eratsuvaju): Tempoin's gotta be my favorite character on the roster.  Danzaiver and Midori are cool too, but Tempoin's seems a little more interesting, and not to mention, he plays a little stronger too.

Puzzle Fighter: Hsien-ko.  That goes without explanation.

Since I see myself on the side of good, I tend to stick with the "hero" characters whenever I play fighting games.  Folks like Terry Bogard, Ryu, Alex, and Mitsurugi.  However, I've been becoming a fan of big brutish characters like Kusaregedo and Sodom in recent times.

In KOF,i like to play as King alot,she's my fave KOF character.

in the import Sailor Moon (Genesis/SNES),Sailor Moon R (SNES),and the Sailor Moon S and SuperS fighting games, i like to play as Sailor Jupiter alot.I like her hairstyle,i like how strong she is,and i like the fact that she's tall(5 foot 7 in japan,which from what I heard is tall for a japanese girl.)

In the Kunio/River City Ransom games,i like to play as Ryan/Riki/Rocky alot,i don't know why...maybe it's the whole 'let the sidekick be the star' thing...lol

In the Resident Evil Outbreak games i like to play as an Umbrella agent,such as Luke or Karl,or an Umbrella scientist like Monica or Greg.In Outbreak File 2 i also like to run 'teams',such as playing as Karl,and having my AI partners be Luke and Greg,for an Umbrella team.Another team i like to run is a 'rescue team',such as Eric (RPD  officer),Gill (Firefighter) and Elana (Nurse).

In Phantasy Star Online Episode 1 and 2 Plus,my favorite characters to play as are the HUnewearl (female newman Hunter), a RAmar (human male Ranger) or a RAcast (male android Ranger).The reasons?...well,the RAmar has nice costume options like wearing a helmet,a face mask,or even a robotic eye implant...the RAcast is good with using traps and regenerating his health...and um,you can make a REALLY busty HUnewearl. ^_^()

in Star Wars Battlefront 1 and 2 i like playing as the Trade Federation Seperatists and the Empire...kinda the whole 'let the villians win for a change' thing...plus,in BF2, it's awesome to play as characters like General Greivous,Darth Maul,The Emperor and Boba Fett.

in Hunter The Reckoning Redeemer,i like to play as some of the unlockable monsters.The Throwback is my fave choice,but i also like Vampire chic,Genfax Security soldier and Werewolf mini-boss as my other choices.

In Final Fantasy Tactics and Final Fantasy Tactics Advance i like having a Ninja in my party.With their 2 swords ability,they're pretty nice allies to have.Though in FF Tactics,i like the Mediator also,especially using the invite abilty to get monsters in your party.My fave monster to invite is Black Chocobo...I like how it flies to it's next location,as opposed to walking...lol..the Choco Ball ability is nice to,as is Esuna.

and in Akumajo Dracula X- Nocturne in the Moonlight for the import Saturn,I like playing as Maria Renard.Her magic spells are quite strong,she can rip through Shaft in about 30 seconds,if that.She also has a triple jump ability,and she can use items like the axe and holy water,similar to how Richter does. (Maria as a playable character is unique to the Saturn version.You can't play as her in the PS1 Castlevania- Symphony of the Night)

GGXX/#R/Slash: Potemkin. His combos and strats are simple, and the damage is big. Axl's on back-up for me now as I learn the ins and outs of his Axl Bomber Loop and how to poke properly.

Street Fighter 3: Third Strike: Dudley's my man. Good wake-up game, decent pokes, and flexible super-arts make him a dangerous character and fun to play as.

Sonic Games: I always pick Sonic, or the team Sonic's on. I didn't really start playing games hardcore until I played Sonic 2 on my old Genesis.

SSX: I play as Moby. I like his style.

PSO: FOnewm for life. Rafoie > everything. I once had a level 54 FOnewm that could clean up dungeons and kill bosses faster than all the HUcasts and HUmars in my group that were 20+ levels above me. Fun times.

Any Marvel game: I play Spidey foremost, with Wolverine or Iron-Man/War Machine on backup.

Marvel Games: I use Psylocke, cause not only is she visually attractive to look at, but she's fast, and becomes a real powerhouse in Marvel Vs. Capcom 2. Pair her with Juggernaut and the Sentinel, and you got a combo that's tough to beat!

I haven't played sailor moon yet, but I know who am I going to pick!

Vampire: Pretty decent with all the characters, save for Huitzil.

For the record, I found Hsien-Ko more of an offensive nightmare, especially wiith her air dashing/jumping fierce punch.

Tekken: Jin, Xiayou, Heihachi, Kazuya, Hworang, Julia and from time to time, King.

KOF: Kyo (Especially after he gained the flamming punches.), Benimaru, Daimon, Iori, Mature, Vice, Athena, Kensou, Chin, K', Maxima, Ramon, Terry, Andy, Joe, Ryo, Robert, Takuma, Mary, Xiangfei, Leona, Eiji, Yuri, King, Mai, Hinako, Yashiro, Shermie, Chris, Kasumi, Shingo, Angel and K9999.

V.G.: Pretty much anyone but Manami.

Samurai Shodown: Shizumaru, Nakoruru, Rimururu, Genjuro, Galford, Sogetsu, Kazuki, Yunfei, Ratsetumaru, Enja, Ukyo, Gaoh, Mizuki, Zankuro, Charlotte, Jubei and Haohmaru.

Last Blade: Kaede (Last Blade 1 version), Moriya, Yuki, Juzoh, Washizuka, Kojiro, Hibiki, Setsuna, Kagami, Hikari and Lee.

SF: Karin, Cody, Guy, Sodom, Cammy, Chun-Li (Prior to 3rd Strike), Sakura, Rose, Fei-Long, Alex, Yun, Yang, Ibuki, Makoto, Sean, Dee Jay, Adon, Sagat, Gen and Bison (SF2 only).

I loves diversity.

favorite characters, huh?  lemme think of a few games i play...

Soul Calibur 3:  Kilik's who i'm best with, although i'm also decent with Zasalamel, Talim, and Voldo.  to me, Kilik is pretty good all around (especially range), you just have to worry about your opponent dodging a lot of his vertical moves, otherwise you're wide open.
i enjoy Zasalamel because i'm a control freak, and he also has good range like Kilik.  he has a lot of weaknesses though - he's slow, he's bad at close-range combat, and since he's a new character, his command list seems less developed than most of the other characters.  you may ask, "why don't you just use Abyss?" well, because i believe being a boss character is cheap, especially since he has that one move that sucks the opponent in.
Talim's basically my "fast" character, since i thought i should have one.  i came up with a pretty decent combo with her, although it gets broken easily (using  for A,  for B,  for K, and  for G):

i use Voldo mainly to freak out people and keep them guessing.  nothing like doing a    + to rape someone!  >=D
finally, it's also fun to rack up gold in the main story mode by getting Yoshimitsu and doing a while crouching  constantly on the opponent, often gaining a perfect.  try it, you'll be surprised how the cpu won't guard against it most of the time.

Super Smash Bros. Melee:  i used to use Falco a lot, due to his high jumping ability, good power, and good range.  however, since i tend to do more multiplayer matches nowadays, i'll often use Yoshi since he's a little better at taking a bashing.  i don't mind fighting with just about any of the characters though (except for Ganondorf, the Ice Climbers, or Pichu).

Marvel vs. Capcom 2:  man, it's been forever since i last played this game... i remember playing as Wolverine a lot since he was fast and had good range (BERSERKER BARRAGE!!!).  what i didn't get was why there were two different Wolverines on the character select menu...  the only difference i really noticed was one of em had that "speed up temporarily" super move you could do... =/
as for other characters, i also used Felicia, Morrigan, Strider Hiryu, Ryu, and Gambit a lot, but Wolverine was about the only one i was proficient with.

Phantasy Star Online:  HUcast (male robot sword-user), RAcast (male robot gun-user), or FOmar (male magic-user), if i remember the classes correctly.  i enjoyed using the android characters due to their high strength and immunity to the more common status effects, and i liked FOmars since they were good with spells AND they could equip some of the good sword weapons (Red Saber comes to mind).  i think you could equip one of the fist weapons to a FOmar and they could cast spells faster than if they had a different weapon.  man, once one of my friends started playing online, he was able to give me some really rare items, as well as show me how to dupe them... those were fun times... Tsumikiri-J Sword + rare 4-slot armor + 3 God/Abilities + God/Battle + rare shield + Chao mag = OWNAGE.

Pokemon:  now, before anyone flames me for playing this game in the past, i found it appealing to be able to choose from several hundred monsters and moves and customize them however the hell you wanted them to, and then battle them against your opponent's.  any game with that much strategy and customization is ok by me.  say what you will.  >=P  anyway, here's some of my favorites and their move lists:
Steelix - Bind, Toxic, Sandstorm, and Earthquake.  use Bind first to trap them, then Toxic and Sandstorm, and watch their health whittle away.  or use Earthquake to kill them in one hit if they have a type disadvantage.
Tyranitar - Crunch, Rock Slide, Earthquake, and Hyper Beam.
Metagross - Psychic, Sludge Bomb, Meteor Mash, and Shadow Ball.
Lanturn - Rain Dance, Thunder, Surf, and Confuse Ray.  use Rain Dance first, then Thunder will always hit and Surf becomes stronger.  if you're lucky, you can confuse AND paralyse your opponent, nearly making them immobile.  you could change the list to include Thunder Wave and/or Attract to get really nasty.
Blissey - i never managed to get one of these, but i DID have a Chansey on one of my old games.  highest HP stat out of all the monsters, and good Special stats as well.  no move list in particular, although Softboiled is a must.
Cacturne - Giga Drain, Ingrain, Leech Seed, and Faint Attack.  similar setup to Steelix, except this one constantly gives you health.  slap on a Leftovers to REALLY piss your opponent off.  >=P
Heracross - Megahorn, Reversal, Endure, and Brick Break(?).  yaay, the suicidal bug!  if you're at a type disadvantage, use Endure to leave yourself with 1 HP and then next turn (if you're faster than your opponent, that is) use Reversal to do massive damage.  a Focus Band or a Quick Claw is good to equip here.  the 4th move is pretty much open to whatever you want... i think i had Counter at one point to further catch my opponent off-guard.
there's probably some others, but i'll end this list with my favorite "legendaries," Lugia and Ho-oh, from the Gold/Silver era.  i gave mine Aeroblast, Psychic, Hydro Pump, and Recover; and Sacred Fire, Solarbeam, Sunny Day, and Recover respectively.
probably the reason why i stopped playing the series was because of all the asanine things you had to do to "catch em all."  it pissed me off to learn that, even though both the above pokemon were in the latest games, you had to go through one of Nintendo's promotional things to get a password and what not (or use a cheating device, but i hate those things).  if only they made just ONE version so that you could get all of them without hassle, and end all these marketing ploys, although it kinda was a good way to set up a more sociable multiplayer environment.  maybe if they made an online version for DS...

Ryu Hayabusa from DOA is awesome. I play him for his sheer speed and skill.

Though if I were him and I was fighting against, say, Kasumi or Ayane, I'd rapidly mash the  button in the middle of his Izuna Drop move. Who says you can't spruce up a spinning headslam with a little intercourse?

IG13: Myself i have a few of the DVD's,since i like certain characters (Such as Butch,Cassidy and Lorelei...I still need to get the DVD with Erika's episode),but the only Pokemon game i currently have is Pokemon Puzzle League for the N64...i like the fact that the USA voice actors from the anime did all the voices in this game.It's a pretty fun puzzle game.I've played the main games before,and i have to agree,there's many different monsters to use,and they're fun games.

One is the original Wolverine, with the adamantium claws. The other is when Wolverine lost his adamantium and it turned out his claws were just extensions of his skeleton.

i usually go for quicker characters over power (must be why i like using chun-li and taki so much)

in war of the gems it was spider man, hands down for light speed ownage (backflip kick into max spider ruled)

never really played children of the atom, but was better with storm than any other character i chose (and she is comparativly slow)

xmen/streetfighter - had to go with the twin babe team of rouge and chun-li (chun-li was a must for racking up the biggest combo against apacolipse. get in his face and cut loose with a mid air lightning kick, and you can get a perfect almost every time, and max out the combo counter)

marvel vs capcom - ryu and chun-li they made the perfect tag team for super moves. chun-li covers with her sheild blast, and ryu steps up behind to reach out and smoke some one. and chun-li's secret move in that game (i call it the demon kick because if it landed the screen went black like the raging demon) was something that i i found by accident, and mastered in about 2 rounds (people hated it because i could even hit a crouching spider man with it, and most attacks like that fly right over his webbed head)

MVC2 - a slight remix on that last game, by going with Chun-li(as if you had a doubt) with backup from Iron Man and War Machine (setting them up with Li, then unloading a triple that involved twin proton cannons rarely left the recipiant standing)

[Meat]

Street Fighter Games:  Akuma.  Not only is he wickedly cool, but he's got all the Shotokan techniques down except for Ken and Ryu's signature Supers.  I always make use of his teleportation moves and of course, the Shungokusatsu.

One of my staple Akuma Combos would have to be Jumping HP,  HP,  HP.  That last part can be substitued for a Messatsu Gou Shoryu or a Messatsu Gou Hadou as well.

I also use Dan since he's a goofball and it's a challenge since his lame techniques are like a handicap.  That and I love the way most novices will try to block a super-taunt. 

Tekken 3 and later:  Lei.  I like throwing opponents off with his style-changes and the option to launch most of my attacks from a low position. 

Tobal No. 1:  Emperor Udan.  Easily the best character in the game because of his unpredictable fighting style and chain-attacks.  Gren Kutz is my second choice because of his ability to keep opponents at bay with some simple punch combinations.  Oliems is my last pick since he's got some blazing fast punch combos and his chicken dance/capoeira attacks make your enemies play a guessing game as to when they should attack.

Battle Arena Toshinden:  Sho Shinjo.  Basically, he's the Akuma of the game.

Battle Arena Toshinden 2:  Vermillion.  His weapons consist of a shotgun, a pistol, and a jar of liquid nitrogen...nuff' said.  I also enjoy playing as Cupido(aka Uranus) since it's pretty fun to fly around the arena and pick my oppponent off from a distance.

Fatal Fury and any other game where he's featured:  Terry Bogard.  He's got a nice variety in his specials and you can't go wrong the max level Triple Power Geyser.

Dynasty Warriors 3:  Ma Chao.  I like his how his final charge attack is a radial strike, plus his costume looks killer.  Gan Ning is another of my faves in this game, though I hate how they removed his double energy wave attack in part 4.  Of course, most people pick Lu Bu because of his awesome attack power and range, which is why I also like using him.

Dynasty Warriors 4: I also like using Ma Chao in this version, especially with a level 10 weapon, Horned Helm, Lv.20 Tiger Amulet and Shadow Runner saddle equipped(he's a medieval tank!).  My favorite character in Part 4 has to be Sima Yi, though.  His Musou attack owns hordes of enemy soldiers and he's way cooler than that goody-two-shoes Zhuge Liang.

Super Smash Bros. (N64 and Gamecube versions):  Captain Falcon.  Not only is he one of the fastest characters, but he's also got some serious power.  Most of his attacks take a while to master, since they've got such a small area of effectiveness(Falcon Punch, aerial knee, aerial stomp), but when an opponent is at medium damage, it only takes a well placed knee bash to send them flying out of the arena.

IG13: true,true...in the Street Fighter Alpha series,i like quicker characters like Chun-Li and Vega,though i also play as Sakura alot.

Also,in the Ranma 1/2 fighting games i have (The import 'Neighborhood Combat' and 'Super Battle' for SNES and the USA 'Hard Battle' for SNES),i prefer faster characters like Girl-type Ranma and Shampoo.
