Might as well start a spriting thread. =D

Last night I found out how to extract sprites from Mugen fighters, so I took some from Arina and animated her standing animation:

Also, since I've started playing so much NeoRageX(Neo Geo arcade emulator) I've developed a new appreciation for King of Fighters, and more importantly, Shermie.

She's a throw character who's constantly bending over backwards to do German suplexes, and two of her command throws involve her wrapping her legs and crotch around her opponent's heads to take them down.

It's the little things like that that make me like a character. =D

^My work. I prefer smaller sprites because they are much easier to integrate into a platform game.

Oh wow, those look really cool. Is it safe to assume that you've used them to create a platform game or intend to?

They're both from Waku Waku 7, a Neo Geo fighting game I picked up recently. =D

Used as a base. Guns? From Advance Wars Anti-Air and Md. Tank. That Rocket thing? Flamethrowers on Ships in SMB3. Dome? Bubbles from Super Mario World. It's a hybrid of many sprites.

And, Hyperguy, I intend to use the in a platformer... as soon as Game Maker 6.1 stops glitching up.

Hey, kind of like Tifa Tan X2, where you get to play as Tifa Lockheart and you fight against gropers with fighting game moves. Speaking of which, I wonder if Khris wrote a feature on it yet? He mentioned it at a couple of times at Cross Changer.

I'll keep ya in mind. But I am not sure if I'm going to be able to make it much more than above-average-fangame rank. Now if it had the stability of RPGMakerXP....

RPG Maker XP is quite frankly, the shit.

I'm actually planning on paying for it, because it's worth it to say " I not only spent hours upon months upon months making this game, but I can SELL it too. What do ya know?"

and 60 something bucks, just isn't that much when you consider what you could do with a properly made game.

Not yet, I hardly get a chance to play it, what with it not being able to play on my computer. I always have to wait to use my dad's computer for cool things. That, and it's f'n hard for some reason. Jeez. I mean, seriously you get this lame time limit and those guys jump on you constantly.Until then, play Noitu Love.

Do expect a fistfull of articles coming up in the big Cross Changer! update (coming soon!!!!).

Agreed, agreed, but I, now that I think about it, have this horendous habit of trying to make a battle system "perfect", where every player can memorize the simple damage formula, yet have plenty enough elements and weapons to keep variety; all while managing to make things equal. Unfortunately, RPGMXP's battle system is not easily altered without proper scripting in Ruby, However, so my Idea comes to a halt there.

Hence, I've switched to Gamemaker. It's glitchy, but it showed me what I am really good at: platformers. I also found that with Photoshop, RPGM2000 Sprites can be easily turned into platformers, allowing Charas EX's (What I used to make the sprites) potential to soar.

Since Gamemaker also has multiplayer compatability, I plan to make a multiplayer platform/fighting/RPG game using it, if I can get enough objects in without glitchyness. Think of Maple Story, but use a SSBM Battle system, and the ability to be run on multiple levels of quality, even on Windows 98 computers with Dial-Up and AOL.

"Gamemaker". I've never heard of that. What is it? Not that I'd be able to make my hopeful Final Fight-esque game with it (although another moddable engine I'm waiting on might do the trick just as nicely) due to my utterly sucking at programming, but nonetheless...
