okay, so i traced the line art from the magazine scan to the actual ANM. maybe i'll try to see if i can uncensor the rest of the frames to make an animation... maybe...

i noticed some story boards in the background of this interview, i used AI to remove the black text, it seems Julietta was supposed to have a doggystyle pose and a close up of her reaction too.

That's really cool. It's amazing how much of the Julietta scene got left on the cutting floor, even with the DVD version expansion.

Not really news. One of the Julietta doggystyle cel sketches showed up for sale online years after the game launched. The background photos probably helped authenticate it as a real, original cel.

 we knew there were a lot of scenes missing, ya i've seen that cell before, but i haven't seen wide shot of the doggystyle position until now. at least just in storyboard form.
To me that cel looks like she's lying down, specially with the drops of sweat (or spit?) below her chin?  and if she was in the doggy style position, i believe her breasts would be hanging down in that shot. 
or are you talking about a different cel?

They are hanging down. Based on the storyboard, it appears she may start with upper body and head laying down, but then raises herself up on to elbows. Forearms, wrists, and fists still on surface, but head and body above. Chin is above surface to explain the sweat drops, but hair drops further down. An arch in back may be hiding much of her breast size but nonetheless still hanging. The cel notes indicate shoulder and head movement, so seems like they'd be above surface.

I see the cel as a later image in the attached sequence. Closeup and from opposite side.

I donno, man.. remember, her hands are bound behind her during the scene, it doesn't make sense for me for her hands to suddenly be free,
its not until the aftermath that she has her hands free.  and in the storyboard it looks like her shoulders are resting on the bed.

maybe it was a discarded scene?  well, yes it was, but perhaps another version of this scene, i donno.

EDIT: now im thinking it was a scene taken out AFTER her scene with Diablo, because she has no mouth gag nor the straps, and her dress is off completely it looks like.
plus it looks like her ears are not as big as her final design, could be an earlier design of her too and even an earlier draft of RSR, since she is biracial her ears could've looked like that at one point.

Its my understanding it was for a second scene but I guess they felt one scene for Julietta was enough to tell the story (and it is.) Cala needed the extra scenes though since she was the main heroine and had to put up with more 'torture segments'

I think they were aware from an early point that space was going to be a concern, with more animated scenes than ever before, as well as using more and higher quality audio tracks, and didn't really want to exceed CD size media. Which of course they did anyway, giving us a trimmed CD version and the DVD "Director's Cut" edition.

The storyboard does make it look like the wide shot cuts directly to the close up, and with her arms behind her back in the wide shot but hand bracing on the bed in the close up. Maybe suddenly unbound hands were a continunity error.

There's another possibility in how to interpret the roughs, but I want to try drawing it out to see if it makes sense.

Edit: Like this. The closeup initially looks to me like in the cel sketch, but it could be consistent with the other pose if the lines at the bottom represent her breasts pressed against the bed instead of her forearm.

Something else I noticed: The climax of the Julietta sex scene is the 830 sequence. In 830A she's on her back. In 830B he turns her on her side like this and 830C is the closeup of her while on her side. The next anm is 830I and she's on her back again. The first cell of the storyboard looks like she's in the side-pose and the next few are her getting turned into the face-down position. I really think this pose sequence represents the missing 830D - 830H part of the scene.
