These are two of the most famous, legendary characters in the history of American animation, and it occurred to me today that I wasn't sure who was more popular.

I'd go with Bugs, personally. Mickey's too much of a wussy goodie-goody, while Bugs is a bit more of a charismatic, cheeky arsehole. Shite catch-phrase, mind you.

Mickey, by a long shot. He's starred in a crap load of better cartoons, some of which have revolutionized animation. He's also the figurehead of a massive corporation, including five theme parks. Mick is pretty much the Donald Trump of cartoons.

Bugs' career, on the other hand, has been pretty dismal lately. Dude hasn't been the same since Chuck Jones passed away.

Mickey was actually a bit of a bad ass back in the day. See some of his early cartoons: he used to smoke, engage in gun fights, abuse animals, and once even attempted to date rape Minnie while flying a biplane. (The latter scenario ended with Ms. Mouse opting to jump out of said air vehicle.)

I wouldn't mind seeing more of the nasty side of Mickey. Don't suppose you could point me in the right direction to see some of this for myself?

All of the more crude Mickey cartoons were the early ones. All of them are compiled in this DVD. Great stuff.

Yes but Mickey wears some sort of weird underwear/hot pants thing with buttons on it. Almost as frightening as no pants in my opinion.

Early Bugs Bunny was just as mischievous. Actually he had a lot of Daffy Duck in him too. Considering when Bugs and Mickey were released they were made to show in theaters to adults, it's really not surprising. Poor Bugs, his career has relaxed some. But he's a classic..... they'll both be around for a long time.

I'm thinking Bugs too. He's a helluva lot more funnier, plus it doesn't seem right seeing Mickey running around in a black cloak wielding a Keyblade, lol...

You know Mickey has a dark side though... after all those years of living with Minnie and trying to understand Donald... he HAS to have a dark side.
