Got the idea to do this one after importgamer got a new avatar/signature.
The best I ever did in the game was in the Episode 2 release for Gamecube. I was in Savannah, and all my friends were getting way ahead of me, because they had constant access to it and I didn't. So by the time I got around to it, they were all pushing level 70 and I hadn't done shit. I got rolling, made level 4, and then one of my brothers came home. He went through everybody else's characters and dug out all the Force-related stuff, as I had shown great interest in the FOnewm. With all the jacked-up slots, Mind Materials, TP Materials, and super MST-boosting wand, I learned spells far in advance of a level 4 FOnewm. The basic fire spell cost me so much I could only cast it 9 times before needing fluids.
However, I grew into myself quickly, and soon was level 54. At level 54, with my jacked-up-ness, I beat Episode 1 on Very Hard mode and was the first of my whole group to set foot into Ultimate mode. On Episode 2, which is considerably harder, I beat the first form of Olga Flow flawlessly and damn near beat his 2nd form, which was miles better than the 70-ish HUcasts and HUmars my friends used.

Yup,EGM magazine reccommended stuff like that back in the Dreamcast days of PSO.
They said if you got a Noob in the party, but want to make him a more formidiable teammate, let him equip a high powered Mag to give him a stat boost so he can equip some of the more powerful weapons earlier.
-
Man, I was casting Rafoie at level 6 and clearing whole rooms at one shot. At my peak, level 54, I ate the Very Hard bosses ALIVE. De Rol Le especially was a joke.
-
Back when I played PSO Ver. 1 and Ver. 2 on Dreamcast, I loved it...except for all the fuckin' furries. Whoever decided that Tails avatar shit was happenin' needs to be shot in the face with a rocket launcher. FURRIESSSSS
-
speaking of PSO,i just posted the first episode of my new PSO fic...
-
Ok, in Episode 1 & 2 for Gamecube, why the hell do Newman and Human characters get shorted out by lightning?
-
Ok, in Episode 1 & 2 for Gamecube, why the hell do Newman and Human characters get shorted out by lightning?
i'm not sure, but i think for them,it's supposed to be like a temporary paralize, they can move and use Monomates, etc.but cannot attack.I just make sure i equip a Cure/Shock when i go after the robots in the mines and such,it eliminates that problem real quick.
Cool sig!I'm glad i'm not the only fan of PSO...i had been posting on a Phantasy Star site quite awhile back, and people were surprised that i still play PSO,they said i was one of the few who still cares about PSO.Even with the upcoming Phantasy Star Universe for PC and PS2(I think it's supposed to be out later this year),i still actively play PSO Plus and PSO 3 on my Gamecube alot.Alof of my friends play multiplayer on PSO Plus with me to this day.
-
Cure/Shock is a unit, right? Right now I'm packin' 10 Sol Atomizers, but it's not helping much. I'm thinking of getting tons of stuff to raise my resistance to lightning so at least the damage from the lightning won't own me to death. I never did beat Episode 2, even on easy, and even though I made it to Ultimate mode in Episode 1, I never beat it, either. I've got PSO 3, but I want to leave it until later.

Yup,Cure/Shock is a unit that negates Shorts.I also have a Cure/Freeze for one of my other characters.
One of my characters is a blue, helmeted RAmar named Mr.Freeze, based on the Batman villian. His main weapon is a Frozen Shooter that i found.Equipping Cure /Freeze makes sure no one freezes him,and that his weapon(which can randomly freeze him)doesn't freeze him, either.
With Episode 2 on Easy,Olga Flow's first form is pretty easy, but his second form has a gimmick. His version of a Mag attack, where he blasts the ground that he's standing on,is quite powerful. To give you an idea,he could almost kill a HUnewearl at about level 67 with one hit of it.What you do is strike from a distance, always.I use Mechgun class weapons. If i see him charging up energy,i run,and come back when the blast clears. As far as his shockwave attack, hide behind the rocks that fall to the ground. If you do it right, the shockwave will destory the rock, but the blast will not harm you.If i play a Ranger,i bring a Rifle/Bazooka type weapon,as well as a Mechgun type, for the rapid hits.
using Mechguns to attack has worked so well for me,no matter which level i go through or which boss i face,I bring a Mechgun type weapon with me always, they're invaluable. If i'm playing a Human or Newman,i prefer to use Twin Psychoguns(Some section ID's can find them by killing a Love Rappy in the VR Temple on Hard setting.).For androids,i usually bring the Vice or Justice mechguns.
-
I almost beat Olga Flow 2 with my old Force, before his memory card was sold. Right now I'm running another FOnewm, named NiGHTs because I wanted a Pinkal ID and that just happened to do it. Yes, the costume is all purple, but I'm thinking I'llc hange it as soon as I can rack up a spare 10,000 Meseta.
I don't normally play Rangers (can't stand sniping things to death), so I play HUcaseals/HUmars and FOnewms. I love the melee Hunters get and the big, pretty, room-clearing explosions a FOnewm's Rafoie makes is gorgeous.

generally,i try to get familiar with the various character classes in games like this, but more often than not,I play Hunters.I like to have some Force and Ranger characters ready,to balance out a multiplayer game,so that when i play PSO,i can be comfortable with any character class.
I generally play HUnewearls,RAmars,RAmarls,RAcasts,FOnewearls and FOmars, but i have played all classes long enough to make good with any class.
-
If I ever played a Ranger, I'd be one of the Androids or the RAmarl. That one NPC, Bernie, has me completely against RAmars.
-
Yeah,NPC Bernie is a doofus...my Mr.Freeze character is the same class, but when i play Rangers,i go for the kills immediatly, and move onto another target right away. Hit them hard and hit them fast.

For those who are interested,my 1up.com page, 'importgamer13' currently has a huge blog up about PSO Plus for the Gamecube. For those who are new to PSO,or interested in the details about PSO Plus, feel free to check it out.

I have the Dreamcast Versions. I played online for a very short time and quit because I couldn't afford it at the time.
Like the rest of my Dreamcast Collection, they now sit in a drawer.

1. Myself,i only play my 2 PSO titles offline.I have...
PSO Plus for Gamecube (supports 4 players offline, via split screen,a great party game!)
and PSO 3- CARD Revolution for Gamecube(3-D card battling game, but you have a nice battlefields to move across. You can even play using PSO monsters as your minions... lol...story mode is 1 player...there's a 4 player offline battle mode, and there's actually 3 offline quests you can unlock,in which 2 players work together to defeat enemies!)
2. I only have a few games for my Dreamcast.I have Street Fighter Alpha 3,Zombie Revenge (Great 2 player action game),KOF Dream Match 99 and KOF Evolution. But i wouldn't give them up for anything! ^_^
-
I got my Red Merge back last night. The true ownage can now begin!

I got my Red Merge back last night. The true ownage can now begin!
cool!My Lita Kino character (Yeah,i based her on Sailor Jupiter) kicks butt with her Twin Brand and Photon Claw. ^_^
-
man, it's been a while since i played PSO (not to mention dupe-ing the hell out of all the rare stuff i got, lol). i'm still waiting for phantasy star universe to come out for ps2 (i think it comes out in august).
i've always liked using either HUcasts, RAcasts, or FOmars (or whatever the robot male sword/gun users and the human male forces were called). the tsumikiri-j, 3 god/bodies, a god/battle, a good mag (i'd say a diwari, or the chao mag if you wanted to get REALLY crazy with its insane stats), and whatever good armor and shield you can get at your level (with 4 slots, of course) are MY tools of ownage. >=D
-
I got a release date list from Gamestop...(Can't find it at the moment)...Phantasy Star Universe comes out in about middle of September, for PC,PS2 and Xbox 360.
(360 version was confirmed in the new issue of Game Informer)
-
Ownage complete! I beat Falz on normal mode and made Level 30. This weekend I'll start up on Hard mode.
-
Cool! ^_^
Myself I just beat XMen Legends 2 the other night, looks like we're both doing good.
I'm considering making a Wolverine character for my PSO Plus and passing him one of my extra Photon Claws...lol
I have a few 'custom characters' based on other characters. They are...
Based on Sailor Moon characters:
Lita Kino (HUnewearl, based on Sailor Jupiter)
PrnceDiamond (HUmar,based on Prince Diamond)
Sapphire (HUmar,based on Sapphire)
Rubeus (RAmar,based on Rubeus)
Wicked Lady (FOnewearl, based on Wicked Lady)
Others:
Mr.Freeze (RAmar, based on the Batman villian, complete with Frozen Shooter, Cure/Freeze and Freeze Barrier)
-
I never did figure out how to legitimately get any of the weapons beyond Soul Eater and Akiko's Frying Pan. I wanted Bernie's Flame Visit as a trophy, and always thought a Photon Claw would be good.
-
most of my good stuff i got from one of my friends who managed to get online with his gamecube.
then he showed us the great lag trick of dupe-ing. >=D
luck materials, anyone?
-

well, the Soul Eater and Frying Pan i got legitamately,i have a guide book that covers the original PSO for Gamecube(as far as i know, they never made a USA book for PSO Plus).I think it's by versus books,it has a section that covers all the offline Ep.1 quests on PSO for Cube.
As far as Flame Visit, there are some interesting Action Replay codes,if you're not adverse to using that, mind you. There's a code called 'Meseta Bank Mod'...essentially you put a specific amount of money into your bank, and the first item in your bank becoems the corresponding weapon/armor,etc.(Each thing has a specific Meseta value in the code). Also, there are codes such as 'enemies drop all rares',in which case, you just kill the enemy that would legitimately drop the Flame Visit, and poof!He drops it!
I used AR for some of the items, due to how long it takes to legitamtely find some of the stuff. To give you an idea, when the regular PSO 1 and 2 hit the Cube,i couldn't get a basic Double Saber for the life of me.(I only play offline,so trading was not an option).I used an AR code to get a Double Saber, and by the time i legitimately found a Double Saber, two years had passed. On top of that,I also gave myself a Photon Claw back then, and i now have PSO Plus, and in the many years I've been playing PSO on the Gamecube,i finally found my first legit Photon Claw, and it's been close to 5 or 6 years since the original PSO hit the Cube?!?I just don't think a game should make you wait THAT long to find a bunch of the various weapons, but that's just my personal feelings on the subject.
Weather you use AR,do the 'duping trick' or just play legit,PSO is still a great game anyways,i just wish it was more balanced on how often the rares turn up.There's still a bunch of other rare weapons in the game that i STILL haven't come across yet,but.....life goes on....
-
I tend not to use cheating devices or bugs like the duping trick. If I could even find out what enemies drop these items, it'd be a help.
-
check a website called PSOworld, they got guides that tell you what all the enemies drop, and how the drops change on all the difficulties.
-

i got a lot of information from the march 2003 (#97) issue of tips & tricks magazine. it also mentions word of some coverage in the march 2001 issue as well, so you may check that one out too, if you're willing to back-order some issues.
anyway, the article covers a few of the rare-item quests, and has several pages with lists of rare items, their stats, and which id's they drop for. it didn't mention anything about from which enemies/difficulties they dropped, though...
-
PSOworld I will find. Name sounds familiar; I might've gone there once or twice last time I was into PSO (2 years ago now).

yeah, that's the thing with PSO...On Normal difficulty,a Rappy may drop one thing, but on other difficulties, they may drop something totally different for each section ID.PSO is very complicated when it comes to the items and such that enemies drop.

maybe that's why i liked it so much, lol... just knowing that there's a really rare, kick-ass item out there just makes you wanna play the game more and more. i hope phantasy star universe is the same way. and hopefully there WON'T be any lag tricks to where you can dupe stuff - actually make it that much more challenging to find the good stuff. i really like games with that kind of difficulty.

I hope the item finding won't be as difficult as PSO.I've been playing PSO on the Cube for years now and there's STILL many weapons, etc.,that i've never found legit...that's a feature about PSO i did not like.It should not take actual YEARS for many of the various items to drop. That's my one real complaint about PSO.Other than that, the game rocks!
Most likely i will preorder Phantasy Star Universe.I'm just sad there will be no offline multiplayer. (Sega confimed that ALL multiplayer modes are online only).

WHAAAAT?!? NO OFFLINE MULTIPLAYER?!?
*accidentally casts Rafoie lv. 30 on himself and 'SPLODES*
....dammit, i did it again....
*uses Scape Doll*
hmm, that could be a problem... isn't it also coming out for the Xbox 360? if so, i may try to switch my reservation for it instead of the ps2 so i won't have to buy a hard drive and what not...
...of course, then i'd have to buy an Xbox 360, but then i'd have online access for any game.........right???

1. As far as i know, you don't NEED the hard drive for the PS2 version.Never heard that you did need it...
2. PSU's offline mode is one player only in ALL versions.ALL Multiplayer stuff is online only.
3. You have to start out with the in- game character.Sega said later there is a feature you can unlock to crate your own character, but you will miss out on a number of the game's cutscenes and special events.Your created character can only visit areas of the game you've cleared as the in- game main character already.
-
The other night i created an new PSO Plus character,Ranma G- Type.I based her on Girl- Type Ranma, she's a human Ranger, has red hair in a pigtail(This option gave her big round glasses),she's short, like the character, and has a nice bustline. ^_^
Today she defeated De Rol Lie,and graduated to Level 14,and she can explore the Mines now.I also programmed a chat phrase for her for when i play in 1 player mode.
Whenever i do a Mag attack,i press Up on the control pad/C- stick and she says "Hiryu Shoten-Ha!!"....lol
By the same token,i have chat phrases for my other characters...
When I do a Mag attack with my Lita Kino character (female newman Hunter),Up makes her say "Say hello to my little friend!" and pressing Down makes her say "Jupiter says... 'YOU'RE TOAST!""...hee hee
...and my Mr.Freeze character says 4 phrases...
Up: "Tonight's forecast..a Freeze is coming!"
Left: "Everybody chill...CHILL!"
Down: "FREEZE IN HELL!"
Right: "That's MISTER Freeze to you." (Yeah, from Batman the Animated Series...lol)
-
I had symbol chats. My favorite was to make a black face with sunglasses, two open hands, and a red pill and blue pill icon in either one. I used it to ask people into games online. XD

lol!
Yeah, every time i have Lita say "Say hello to my little friend!" i end up saying it aloud, giving myself a really bad Mexican accent...lol..of course,i also do that every now and then in the Res Evil games when i open up on a zombie with a Shotgun...hee hee

hmm, no immediate create-a-character either?? man, i may be having second thoughts about this game...
oh well... all this talk of pso made me a little nostalgic, so i went and made me a FOnewm to toy around with. i only need a few more mind strength points to be able to use that lvl. 30 Grants and the Evil Curst i got... sure is nice to have had a friend who was able to get online and get this stuff and show us how to dupe it, lol...
btw, i was just wondering if anyone knew of any good online-only (or offline) items out there? my friend found some doublesaber-type weapons that had all-caps red text instead of yellow like most of the rare items do... they had weird names too, like "MARIO TWIN + 250" and what not...
-
First, don't judge PSU too quickly. If you're unsure, rent it first.Everything i know about PSU i learned by searching the net and places like PSOworld, which have many details about PSU.Some guy i knew tried talking me out of PSO 3,6 MONTHS before it came out! (He doesn't have the net,so all he had to go by was what i told him).
He basically pissed all over PSO 3 JUST because it's a card-based game, despite the fact he plays real life card games, such as Magi,Yugioh, and more.I got PSO 3 right away, and i loved it,and he's been pissed at me ever since beacause it's one of the few card game video games i like(The other being Metal Gear Acid on PSP).Don't judge PSU so quickly, give it a chance, rent it first if you're that unsure, okay?
Now,PSO weapons with RED text are S-Rank weapons from completing the Challenge Modes with a high rank.Online you can name your weapons(from what i heard.I never play PSO online). However, offline gamers get preset weapons like Samba maracas,etc...there is the AR Meseta bankmod code, where offline only gamers can get some of the RED text weapons, but many frown on AR,so i'll understand if you don't wish to use that option. All i can suggest is for legit use,try doing the Challenge Modes online with people.Gamefaqs and PSOworld have detailed info about the Challenge Modes and what you need to do(Your time limit determines the rarity of your prize).

well, i already set up a reservation at gamestop for a ps2 copy... but it's ok, i have faith that it'll be just as good as pso episode 1 and 2, if not better. thing is, do i want to stick with a ps2 copy, or save up and get an xbox 360 and try to change my reservation to fit that console, since it already comes with online service for all of its games (as far as i know)...?
-
my pal has a 360,you have to pay for online access,i think it's 6 months at a time or something. But yeah, you have to pay to play games online.Myself i'll probably get the PS2 version, since i may not have a 360 untill Xmas, not sure yet.
-

hmm, i heard something about a "silver" and "gold" (no, not the pokemon games, lol) access or something like that... the silver was supposed to already come with the xbox 360 when you got it, and gave you limited online play for free, where the gold package gave you a lot more, but charged you for it. i dunno, i think i got this info back in an old game informer mag or something, i could be completely wrong. =/
-
from what i read online and in magazines,Silver gets you online access so you can download content for your games,patches,etc...but does not let you PLAY games online.
Gold lets you actually play games online, plus everything else, but you have to pay for Gold.

i see... thanks for clearing that up for me. do you know how much they charge for this service? also, what would i need to play PSU online on ps2? just trying to get a comparison here so i can figure out which console i want it on...
-
i'm not sure offhand...I think my buddy said a 6 month Gold plan was around $60...i may be wrong.Microsoft or Gamefaqs may have more info on this for you.
With PS2 i belive you need the Network Adaptor...if you have the Hard Drive, that could optionally decrease load times,i've heard it decreased load times in Res Evil Outbreak alot.
I don't know much about online-console gaming,but i hope this helps somehow.,.

ok, thanks a lot for your help, importgamer! one more question, though - is PSU scheduled to come out for PC yet? right now, all i've heard is ps2 and xbox 360.
-
From what i heard the plan all along was PC and PS2..the 360 version was only announced VERY recently....so it looks like it will be on 3 platforms.PC,PS2 and Xbox 360.
Gald i could help. ^_^
-
Today I had Lita Kino smacking some enemies with her Twin Brand...lol
She took out Olga Flow on Normal (She's at level 84),and then smacked around Vol Opt on Very Hard for a bit.She has access to Ultimate difficulty, but hasn't got much farther after beating Sil Dragon on Ep.1...
-
When I had my level 54 Fonewm I took out Sil Dragon like he was a chump.
-
When I had my level 54 Fonewm I took out Sil Dragon like he was a chump.
i hear that....if played right,Force characters can be downright badass!
Even though i've been playing PSO for quite a long time, and know alot of stuff about it,i'm not an expert at the game,so i have to do what i can and proceed after i've leveled up enough to take out each boss.PSO is still quite a fun game, though!
-
My brother and I are thoroughly convinced that, at the top of the game (level 60+) Forces are simply too good for the other classes to really hang with them in terms of sheer damage output. I remember playing Very Hard mode and watching my buddies tip toe through the Dragon and De Rol Le, barely surviving the fight, while I walked in, tossed Gibarta and Rafoie around, and had it finished in no time flat.
-
When i'm in a multiplayer game,i enjoy having a Force on the team, even if i'm playing one of my HUnewearls.I respect the Force's healing/defensive and offensive capabilites, and i think that Forces can contribute really well to a team.
-
I'm just tired of everybody trying to hem me into a support only position. I don't get EXP if all I cast is Shifta, Deband, Resta, Anti, and Reverser! I wanna kill stuff!
-

i know what you mean!...lol...so i make sure when I play a Force i bring along stuff like a Pallasch and some type of Mechguns.
I've gotten so good at Mechguns that no matter which boss I face, level I explore,or which character type i play as,I'm always lugging around a Mechgun type weapon,be it a Gatling or a unique such as Twin Psychogun,i carry a Mechgun weapon at all times.I use them on common enemies and bosses with extreme prejudice...lol
-
The only time I'd ever use a Mechgun is with a HUcaseal, because they have nutty stupid Accuracy and Attack power. I swear, even Rangers can't use the things as well as HUcaseals can.
-

I must be the 1% of people that can use Mechguns well...get me a pair of Mechguns, and i kick major ass.I also keep some melee weapons with me,as a backup though...
Hunter payload:
Some Mechgun type
Pallasch
Double Saber,Photon Claw or Dragon Slayer
Ranger payload:
Some Mechgun type
Pallasch
A Rifle type,maybe a Shadow Sniper or a Visk,on occassion a Spread Needle shotgun
Force payload:
Some Mechgun type
Pallasch
Hildebear's cane or Talis
A shitload of Difluids,etc...
(Though if i'm playing my RAmar,Mr.Freeze, all i need is a Mechgun type and his Frozen Shooter.'Nuff said....lol)
-
For Forces I just keep a wand on me at all times. The bigger my MST, the better off I am. It means more TP and more power in my spells. Against Vol Opt and Falz, however, I carry a TP-draining gun or Rod. Even though I'm hitting for 0 damage, I'm getting back 15-20 TP per strike, which more than makes up for it.
-
yup, with Dark Force/Dark Falz, when you're low level,it's good to have HP/TP stealing weapons.Especially on his 3rd for when you get to Hard setting. When he flashes that odd color, hardly anything will hurt him...Rafoie still hurts him at that time,though...^_^....also,it's a good time to shoot him with either a HP or TP stealing handgun or rifle.
-
Spells seem to hurt him no matter what, so I slap Grants and Resta on the action bar and keep that special attack handy. Even if the physical hits don't hurt, I'm recharging TP for Resta.
-

I've noticed that when he turns 'invincible' from physical hits in his 3rd form, hardly anything hurts him, though Rafoie still does,so i use that time to use stuff like Mates,Fluids,or a Rafoie or two.Having a Scape Doll helps, also.
-
I build Scape Dolls for the fight. Never go in without 3.
-
i remember i once had a mechgun (whichever one is the most powerful of the generic kinds) with the "King's" ability on it which gave you 12% exp. when you hit an enemy using the special attack. it was great for leveling up. >=D
i also remember my friend managed to get a GULD MILLA online. that weapon was awesome - own the hell out of an enemy, AND recover your health quickly.
-
Vulcan is the most powerful of the generic Mechguns.Yeah, the King ability is great!
I've used Guld Milla before(my character that had it got deleted accidentally),that weapon owns, big time.
-
King? Eh, I'd rather just go through killing as fast as possible (and with a Force, it's very possible).
-
Aced the fuck outta De Rol Le in Hard mode just now. Felt like bragging.

my Girl-Ranma RAmarl slaughtered Vol Opt on Normal using a Vise Mechgun and a Photon Launcher today....lol
-
I'm working up to Vol Opt. He's tedious as fuck because in the GC version, Vol Opt will not move on to form 2 unless you kill all the totems, which means I have to go easy on the monitors. Standard Foie + Mind Brand for life. Mind Brand for the monitors (0 damage, but I gain 25+ TP per "hit") and regular Foie shoots fast enough and accurately enough that I can hit the red totem no problem. Plus it's cheap, and I need TP for Resta.

PSO Plus details- Gamecube
I was chatting on AIM with Hyperguy about this, and i thought i'd post it for the benefit of those on the forum who don't know what exactly PSO Plus is.
Phantasy Star Online Episode 1 and 2 Plus is known to fans as PSO Plus. The purpose of PSO Plus was to make more of the online-only content available for offline only gamers. The game was a VERY limited release...it came out in a September, and by that same year December,it was already out of print. If you missed it,some online stores may have it,but you can find it easily on Ebay. For purposes of price comparison,PSO Plus was released in the USA at a price of $29.99 new,but since it is a rare find now,you may end up paying more on places like Ebay.
PSO Plus NEW FEATURES:
Episode 1:
In 'The Fake in Yellow' quest, you can now activate the GBA downloads offline. One of the mini-games is a game where you fly 'Nights' around on the screen collectiing items for points.I forgot what the other two mini-games are.
The download quest, 'Central Dome Fire Swirl' is now available offline, after you beat the other Episode 1 quests.
Episode 2:
There's 3 Episode 2 quests available, and they feature a new area and new enemies...
'Seat of the Heart' continues the story of Elly and CAL,from the Episode 1 quest 'Knowing One's Heart'.In 'Seat of the Heart',if you do things right, you can get the rare Ragol Ring item. (See PSOworld website for a full FAQ on how to get the Ragol Ring)
'East Tower' pits you against 10 floors of monsters, including new enemies such as Del Lilly,Ill Gill and the new mini-boss Epsilon.
'West Tower' has you search the Seabed lab for an enterance to the other tower, and put you in some dark rooms, with the new enemies, where the lights stay dark untill you kill all the enemies on that floor.
Episode 2 Challenge Mode:
With PSO Plus, you can now play Episode 2 Challenge Mode offline, with a team of 4 players. The last area of the Challenge Mode pits you and your party up against the new enemies and Epsilon in one of the towers. It also has a different variety of prizes than the Episode 1 Challenge Mode.
Also,it should be noted for fans of Phantasy Star 4,that if certain section ID's kill an Ill Gill on Ultimate difficulty,it may drop Rika's Claw, the huge weapon Rika used in Phantasy Star 4 on the Genesis.
Also,PSO Plus data is compatible with the old PSO Ep.1 and 2.You can freely move your characters between the two versions. Also,if you have PSO Plus data on your memory card, this gets you a free 'Nano Dragon' card in Phantasy Star Online Episode 3- CARD Revolution.

Sounds sweet. Can I use my character from the standard PSO 1 and 2 game?

Yup.characters can go freely back and forth from the PSO 1 and 2 game and the PSO Plus game.

What's Epsilon?
-
Epsilon is the mini-boss of the tower quests in PSO Plus.he's a character offline-only gamers never got to fight until PSO Plus came out.He is the final enemy you must defeat to complete the East and West tower quests in PSO Plus. Also,if you destroy all the computer terminals in the quest Seat of the Heart, you can fight him there, too.He is a Machine type enemy.
-
Cool. I thought he looked kinda like Vol Opt.
-
He does look similar in ways. His attacks are...
Rafoie bomb (He uses a laser sight to track you)
Epsiguard (These are his rotating shields he can attack with.He can charge them with Foie,Zonde,Barta or Megid)
-
Sounds tight. Gotta go find it.
-
From what i heard(but i couldn't find data to confirm it),people have said that PSO Plus also has slightly better graphics resolution than the original PSO 1 and 2 Cube version had.
-
I hate the lightning spells. Just thought I'd throw that out there.
-

true...but if Epsilon's shields have Megid charged to them and they hit you...if you don't have a Scape Doll or the Ragol Ring(Acts as a one time Scape Doll)equipped, you're screwed.
-
It's just...even without my Red Merge, Rafoie deals at LEAST 200 damage to the enemies that are weak to it. Razonde is barely doing 173 damage, and that's just plain not cutting it. On the upswing, I found some awesome General/Mind units last night and got to use my Ice Staff: Dagon weapon waaaaay earlier than I should have.

lol....generally,Zonde skills work best on the machine enemies, such as Epsilon,Vol Opt,Gilchic,etc...more often than not,i use stuff like Rafoie(Or,if i'm a Force,Grants) for my butt-kicking spells.
me and some pals played PSO Plus in 4 player mode last night...Lita Kino whupped ass with her Sange&Yasha and her Tsumikiri J-Sword...lol...(We had a level 13 in our group,so we were on Normal, but we beat Dark Force/Dark Falz and saw our ending pics...lol)
-
I know Zonde works best on machines. I've been playing since the Dreamcast. The problem is that these machines don't take that much damage from it. Sinow Beats take 173 from Razonde. Sinow Golds take 200 from plain Foie, without my Red Merge to boost it. Does that seem right to you?

Nope, doesn't seem right. In fact,it reminds me of Ultimate difficulty, where the machines hardly feel Zonde, but Foie techs damage them alot.
You'd figure,in a real life situation, that Zonde would whup the ass out of the machines,it does seem odd that Foie is hurting them more.
-
Golds have always been weak to fire, along with Canadines. Garanz is weak to Barta, which sucks because it takes FOREVER to cast.
-
yup,Barta does take awhile.
SPOILER ALERT!!!
I have to admit though,it's nice that they included many machine enemies for play in PSO 3- CARD Revolution.PSO 3 plays as a 3-D card battle game, and you battle across a 3-D playing field.
Both teams get to used 'attack/defense' cards such as 'Barta',' Grants','Slash' and 'Guard'
Hunters team get to equip various 'item' cards, such as DB's Shield,Double Saber and Mag.They are trying to colonize Ragol, unaware that the Principal Government is using them in a bid for power.
Arkz team get to place and control 'creature' cards on the field, such as El Rappy, Epsilon and Hildeblue. They know the Principal Government is up to no good, and are a rebel group on Ragol. They try to defeat the Principal Government, but they also try to warn the Hunters team that they're being used.
For a great tie in to PSO 1 and 2,play through PSO 3 as the Arkz and use the character Endu to fight the final boss battle, you'll learn alot more about Rico and Flowen, and how they trained Endu(kinda like how Obi-Wan trains Luke in the old Star Wars movies.)
-
I thought PSO 3 was pretty interesting.Even though PSO 3 isn't an RPG,it does tie up the whole PSO storyline.I also liked the fact that they included some 2 player quests.
Quest 1 opens after your first ten battles or so.
Quest 2 opens after you defeat Lukeon Knight (the game's middle boss)
Quest 3 i think opens right before the final battle,or after it.
The quests are accessed in Multiplayer mode. One of the players has to play as a Hunter team character, the other player has to play as an Arkz team character. This is because all 3 quests put you up against mystery enemies who are patterned after Hunters and Arkz,in the type of cards they use.
Quests 1 and 2 feature a female newman Hunter (Hunter side) and a male human Ranger (Arkz side). You're also restricted to not using high Rank cards, same goes for your opponents.
In Quest 3,the female newman Hunter is replaced by a male android Hunter (Hunter side),and he's pretty powerful! The male human Ranger (Arkz side) is the only opponent who is in all 3 quests. In this quest you can use cards of ANY Rank, but so can your opponents!
