Title: SNK Fighters

Roommate Edit: Seeing as there was derailment of my Guilty Gear thread with SNK talk, I give SNK stuff it's own thread. Enjoy.

I'd love to get it, but I really don't have that kind of money.

So, instead of that, I'm getting KOF NeoWave for the XBOX (also comes out this week).

Never played KOF, and I don't intend to. I know a kid who downloaded a bootleg copy of Slash to play on a modded PS2. Little fucker.

Not a KoF fan. The only time I use any SNK characters is in CvS2. [Iori, Rock, Terry, Joe, Rugal]

Busy with SF3//CvS2.

I got it and an emulator for it at Emuasylum.

Maybe we should make a Mark of the Wolves thread where we can talk about its coolness. =D

Fatal Fury 3 is betterer.

Oh hey, semi-new thread. Anyways, I'd recommend the following games:

Fatal Fury 3
Real Bout Fatal Fury 2
Art of Fighting 2 and 3 (Really not that good, but worth a play or two. AOF2's AI is just fucked up.)
King of Fighters '96, '98, '02, XI, Maximum Impact/2006
SNK VS Capcom: Chaos
Samurai Shodown 2, 4, 5Special
The Last Blade 2
Pretty much all NEOGEO Pocket Color SNK fighters are good.

All are pretty great, some more geared towards a competetive audience than others, though.

I'd recommend you all (with broadband connections) to get MAME to play these games online.

People hate the game Mai Shiranui came from? BLASPHEMY =O

 :hcb :p :+ :k BLOOD BURST ATTACK

Seriously, I LOVE the SNK games. A good 2D fighter (or 3D, more recently) is always fun.

Even if VG and GG are betta.

Never really got good at fighters until I started playing SNK ones and sure didn't start having fun with fighters until I played SNK ones.

SF 2 was far from fun, especially when the same stuff that kicks my butt back in the day (Fireball traps, cheap throw setups, etc.) are still owning me to this day.  As far as favorite Capcom fighting franchise, give me Vampire (Darkstalkers) over SF anyday.

The original World Heroes and Samurai Shodown put the Neo on the map for me and I've been a fan since.

KOF and Rival Schools are pretty much the only team fighting games I enjoy, mostly due to the fact I don't care for the tag team system or the whole character assist thing (Asside from aiding a teammate who was dazed.).

There's just so much cool stuff in SNK fighters and the characters themselves have so much personality, more so than most of the SF roster.

I could go on for hours but I'm a bit busy with Sonic Riders at the moment.

Terry Bogard = GREATEST fighter of all-time IMHO.  I'm hoping that KOFXI gives me more enjoyment than Neowave.

So far, the only games I played of KOF are on emulators, the rather disappointing KOF Maximum Impact, and some of the above mentioned games.

Which leads to my next big rant. WHERE IS SAMURAI SHOWDOWN FIVE/SPECIAL?! I played the first four on emulators and the first and second on an arcade somewhere, but I can't wait for Samurai Showdown Five to come out on the home versions.

Then I can write something that is inspired by both the Samurai Showdown games and the Sengoku games.

Plus, there was a demo of KOF 95 on PS1, but I'm not sure if that came out or not. WHY MUST YOU TORMENT ME, SNK??!!

The original SS5 came out on Xbox a while ago.  I found it to be entertaining, though I'm still pissed about SNK accidently leaving movelists for Amakusa, Zankuro, and Mizuki in the manual when they aren't even in the game.  KOF 95 did get a US release on PlayStation, but I don't see it very often when hunting for games.

......... How come I wasn't able to find it? I've been looking and looking all over for Samurai Showdown V on the X-Box. I even got it on a Christmas List, but there is no sign for it. THE LEAST YOU CAN DO, SNK, IS TO RELEASE ALL FIVE GAMES ON THE X-BOX 360, in ONE PACKAGE. Hopefully, that will make me happy. If they can combine Metal Slugs 4 & 5 on one game, I don't see why they shouldn't do the same to Samurai Showdown and the KoF games.

I have King of Fighters 95 for PS1,my buddy said it was a very limited run.I had the fortune to find a used one complete with case and book for $14 at a local store a few years ago.

Also, they did make some two packs of KOF,they've both been out for awhile now...there's a PS2 two pack with KOF 2000/2001 and a PS2 two pack of KOF 2002/2003.

My KOF gaming collection:
KOF 95 (PS1)
KOF Dream Match 99 (Dreamcast)
KOF Evolution (Dreamcast)
KOF 2000/2001 (PS2)
KOF 2002/2003 (PS2)

On the plus side, I did find Mark of the Wolves on Dreamcast. The contols have much to gripe about, though.

Maybe if I have the time, I'll get a rom for it, and maybe see how that fares.

The KOF 02/03 pack is also for XBOX and is XBOX Live compatible.

Mark of the Wolves has some decent controls, I think, and the Dreamcast version is pretty much a perfect port.

Well when I first bought it, I thought it would be bad due to the old school nintendo music on the options screen. Then I stand corrected when I played as several characters, including Rock Howard. I was able to get the Two Bosses under my wing as well. My favorite boss is the big masked guy with white hair.

Yeah, that 8-bit music in the menu is from the original Fatal Fury.

Bonus Stage! Was sort of fun when I actually played Fatal Fury on an emulator.

Fatal Fury 3 is betterer.

four-month-late-DAMN STRAIGHT, NIGGA'

And the only thing that coulda made G:MotW any better would be an appearance by The Blue Mary.  Sorry, B. Jenet you just don't do it for me.  *begins humming original FF menu tune*
