Part of me is kicking and screaming with "DO NOT WANT", and part of me is sitting with a quiet sense of satisfaction and anticipated ass-kickings.
-
I just wonder who the third man is from outside Nintendo Land, though really I want Captain N the GAME MASTER in this.
-
Captain N is one of those things in my childhood I could go forever without remembering.
-
I'm still hanging on for Little Mac as a new character. For 3rd party, I'm betting on Mega Man.
-
SSB shall become a giant cross-over series.
Kinda like Super Robot Wars, 'cept it's between games rather then mecha anime.
-
I guess I'll eventually accept the new direction this is taking, but for now it's very "do not want".
-

Too bad I will make you remember D=
-
Too bad you are now conscious of blinking
-
Am I the only one who's happy with it...? I mean, he seems a good character to play with, why all the hate?
-
Not really hate from my end. I've just got a few misgivings because it's a pretty big change to a number of things. They updated with his special moves today, so I'm pretty excited.

As are you young padawan, as are you.

I'm betting on Mega Man.
CAPCOM hasn't shown a lot of support for Nintendo consoles in the last ten years. Therefore, I seriously doubt Mega Man will be making an exclusive appearance on Wii anytime soon. Besides, Mega Man isn't the Mega Man we remember anymore anyway. He's gone through too many negative facelifts over the years to be worth bringing into the SSB series now. Try to bring in the X or ZX versions and people will clamor for the original. Bring in 80s Mega Man and younger fans won't recognize him. No-win situation.
Sadly, CAPCOM's lack of interest means Viewtiful Joe and the Bionic Commando are probably also off the table. (I still think a Bionic Commando DS could compete for game of the year. It's the perfect classic for stylus control.)
I'll put my money on Bonk as the next secret character to be revealed. Now that Sonic's on board it makes sense to also represent the TG16 in order to sell more classic games through Wii Shop.

From the stand point of popular characters, Mega Man still makes sense. At least, more sense than Bonk. Nobody knows who the fuck that is.
-
That logic doesn't really work when you consider the obscurity of a lot of the characters in Smash Bros. I didn't even know about EarthBound until I found out where Ness was from.

Same.
In the same sense, I doubt more than 2% of most kids to teenagers have even heard the name "Mr. Game and Watch" before unlocking him in SSBM.
-
The 3rd party characters (except Snake) were voted on by fans. So the logic does hold as far as that goes. Nintendo's picks are obscure as hell because they remember back when they were developing 8-bit games that ruled.
-
I heard this a few days ago
It pleases me ^_^

I'm glad Sonic's in the new Smash Bros, but at the same time hope his spin dash won't control as bad as Sonic the Hedgehog on PS3 and 360 and cause everyone to fall off the edge of the stage.
-

Who the hell is Bonk? You Bonkers the clown in Clayfighter? Or the bobcat in the tv show??
-
also for asecond I thought you meant Bugsy which was really weird because I didn't think anybody remembered those Bugsy games anymore.
were somewhat fun for a platformer, though
-
Bonk was the Turbografx-16's mascot. I don't think he will be missed. He was basically a caveman with a large head he'd hit people with, and could eat meat and breath fire.
I think you mean Bubsy.
-
NO I MEANT BUGSY MALONE YOU KNOW THE MOBSTER he had his own series of SNES video games.
Also: I think I know Bonk. When I was a wee lil'un my older friends lorded their TG16's over me and I do so forth recall such upon a hero donth yonder.

The Logic (tm) I was referring to was that of the original gangsta Megaman being too old or unknown for the game.

Oh no, Nintendo is taking extra time to make sure their game is GOOD AND NOT A HALF-ASSED PIECE OF SHIT. Cry about it, Tetsaru.

I understand that, geez. You guys can STFU now. >=P I was just hoping I could get before Christmas, that's all... -_- As long as I don't have to wait 3 FRICKIN YEARS like I did for Twilight Princess...
-
Tetsaru, spring out the mace wouldja c'mon.
-
A little late, but I gotta get this out one last time.
Little Mac isn't fucking PLAYABLE! >_< He's an assist trophy! But King DeDeDe is somehow worth being a playable character? God, fuck that! Little Mac >>>>> King DeDeDe. If Captain Falcon doesn't make it back, there will be damage inflicted upon the creators.
-
I dunno I'm still satiated after hearing about Pit's arrival.

As far as I can see, there is absolutely no reason why he shouldn't be if he's been there in SSB and SSBM. NONE

been wondering if they'll ever do a remake of Kid Icarus. a sign of a future game in the works?

Miyamoto said back in 2005 they were toying with the idea for the Wii. (article (http://cube.ign.com/articles/617/617000p2.html))
My gut feeling though is that its off the table for a while. I just don't see Nintendo putting out yet another flying character driven Wii game after Mario Galaxy and NiGHTS. Maybe they'll aim for the DS though (which I think is a better platform to reintroduce oldies on anyway)
-
I don't wanna wait til February T.T
They better have more awesome characters...
No captain falcon news T.T
King DeDeDe.... FTW?
-
I'm sorry guys, but reading my game informer on the returning characters tells me nothing regarding our friend Captain Falcon.
I is sorry

Probably because F-Zero has been one of the worst managed game franchises of the last few years. The original was the definitive Mode 7 platform and the series peaked with X. Maximum Velocity was meh, AX failed in the arcades, GX's story mode was impossibly hard for most players, and GP Legend might be the worst GBA game ever designed. Add in a Saturday morning cartoon that failed miserably and you can see how the F-Zero series has spiraled into the ground over the last 6 or 7 years.
Of course, by that same logic Fox shouldn't be in Brawl either, but he is. (Granted, SF:Command really isn't that bad, but it hardly makes up for Dinosaur Planet or Assault)
-
If Samurai Goro is in the game as an Assist Trophy and there is a F-Zero icon, then Captain Falcon will be back.

Nintendo is remaking Nights? Is that the game from the Sega Saturn?
-
Yes.
-
Sega is remaking it. It'll be on the Wii.
The example DVD case box art can be found at your local EBGames. You can see the front of it online. (http://www.ebgames.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=230102)

So I just noticed on the official Smash Bros. site that the release has been pushed back to March 9th. I'm not surprised; given all the content and the high expectations for this game, it makes sense that they're taking their sweet time with it. Besides, with more time they can use the once-a-day updates to wind up the fans even more than they have already. Good work you guys. But...
Captain Olimar from Pikmin is playable, and Little Mac is not. I'm an unhappy ROMate.
-
It's already out in Japan. I am contemplating a hunger-strike/suicide-by-flaming-gasoline protest at NoA headquarters next weekend.
