Alrighty folks. Post your favorite emulator and rom sites here. Discuss if you wish. I'm curious to see what you guys post. I'm doing this, not only for Bahamut Lagoon, but also to see other results.
-
romnation.net is pretty good. It's the only one I visit regularly.
-
I miss emunation. *sob* Damn you copyright holders! Damn yooouuuu!!
PS - fav emu, pcsx2! bwahahaha, well no, snes9x/zsnes (use zsnes for netplay) but I give pcsx2 homage since their latest release came iwth a HUGE speed boost that lets me play Monster Hunter at a decent speed!
-
Emulatiom? Aw. I thought I found a home for this little guy:

Emu Asylum (http://www.emuasylum.com/) is a great one, although I should warn the snerds out there that there are no Nintendo roms anywhere to be found. Besides the Famicom Disk System and Virtual Boy, anyways.
Rom Hustler (http://romhustler.net/) is where I get my ISOs, since you don't have to sign up to get them.
DG Emu (http://www.dgemu.com/) has the most asinine downloading system this side of Gamespy, but this is where I got my GBA roms, before I discovered that GBA emulation straight sucks.
Planet Emu (http://www.planetemu.net/) is the best thing the French have ever done since discovering fallatio.
-
I vouch for Planetemu. There's pretty much no better site for finding MOST of the ROMs you'll want to play, although its selection from the Playstation 1 era on is nonexistent.
By the way, HMD, about your current user picture, AIIIEEEEEEEE!!!
-
This thread made me think of emus (http://img451.imageshack.us/img451/4557/emoemu9bi.jpg)
-
To HMD: Planetemu was all you needed to list.
And also, your avatar is really fucking nasty.
=,I
-
PlanetEMU is good JESUS CHRIST HMD ARE YOU TRYING TO BUST AN EYE HYMEN?!
-

The fuck, why? And what's a "snerd"?
And finally, what the eff is going on in his sig?
-
I'm not exactly sure why EmuAsylum doesn't carry Nintendo roms, I just know that they don't. I would've normally just linked to Planet Emu and left it at that, except that it's been going down quite a bit lately, so other sites become neccessary.
Bangdoll- This be a snerd. (http://www.segabastard.com/etc/snerd.html) It's a pretty big slang term over at Honest Gamers, Cross Changer and the late great Famiconsumer.
Everyone else- Av source. (http://www.cross-changer.net/skullfuck.jpg) It comes from the uh, extreme doujin Temptation 3.

For most of the consoles, you could check here:
http://www.gametronik.com/site/
For MAME (The best one I like):
http://www.planetemu.net/ is the best.
-
Rom Hustler (http://romhustler.net/) is where I get my ISOs, since you don't have to sign up to get them.
Question. I'm not all that computer savvy, so how do I properly unpack those multi-part ISOs?
-
Yeah, RomNation and Planet Emu is where I get my stuff. Now if only they can update MAME so I can play games like Pachinko Sexy Reaction 2 and Golden Axe the Duel.
-
Question. I'm not all that computer savvy, so how do I properly unpack those multi-part ISOs?
Download all of them, then unzip/rar/pack/whatever the first one. It'll put every part into one folder.
-
Well, Robo Aleste must be a bad set, then.
-
Really? That's pretty much the only ISO I have, and it works perfectly. If you're using Gens, turn on Perfect Synchro (under CPU) and see if it works then.
-
No dice. This is rather odd, since it has worked just fine so far with Snatcher and Silpheed. I've tried loading it up with the country set to Japa, and all that comes up is the CD player set to 17.
-
Okay, here's a little mini-FAQ I made (with pictures) to help you and anyone else with Sega CD emulation. The game in question will be Earnest Evans, since it's a Japanese ISO (and it rocks). Also, I'll be using WinRar for this process, so keep that in mind if you use something different.
STEP 1:
First, open up the first part of the set, like so:
Just extract that. Part one will unzip the parts that come after it.
STEP 2:
Now there's a new zip file there. This is the combined ISO. Open this up.
Just put that into its own folder. This way the ISO and the MP3's will be organized.
STEP 3:
Now we deal with the actual emulator. If you're using Gens (and you should), go under CPU and turn on Perfect Synchro.
And before you do anything else, make sure you have your bios configured right.
Then you just open the ISO as normal.
STEP 4:
HOWEVER, if it's a Japanese ISO, it'll bring you this menu:
Just select CD-Rom and it'll load up the game.
And as for Robo Aleste, that game is a European release, so you shouldn't have to worry about that last step. I just leave Country on Auto and it works fine.
Hope this helps somebody.

Nice guide HMD :)
lol... I'ts my turn, here's some guides I made before for those who have problems with some emulators.
Sega CD guide (http://www.romnation.net/forums/thread.php?threadid=6550&sid)
NeoGeo CD guide (http://www.romnation.net/forums/thread.php?threadid=5604&sid)
For MAME emulator, ask any question you want and I'll answer it:
Here's an example: http://www.romnation.net/forums/thread.php?threadid=7705&sid
I have some other ones if some one is interested.

Emuasylum and a few other places don't have Nintendo ROMs anymore because they're afraid they'll get sued because of the whole Virtual Console thing that the Wii'll have.
Of course that makes no sense, since most of these sites still have Genesis and TurboGrafx ROMs up (which will also be available through the virtual console).

I was reading on Wikipedia that Megaman Wily Wars (the European version, which is in English already,a friend of mine has it)will be available for download for Wii,courtesy of Capcom....that will be great for fans who aren't import gamers, but i already have the japanese game for my modifeid Genesis.I just prefer to buy the actual games.
