Rarrrr!

I use Heihachi!  Demon Uppercut!

What's your name little boy!

Saaaaaay!

Seriously though, Heihachi may be old, but he knows Colonel Sanders original recipe for Kentucky Fried whoopass.

You don't count, Cole. I had the first fighting game post ever on the whole forum, so there. =P I don't know anything about SC3, apart from some unfounded and probably false rumors. 3D fighters just aren't my bag of tricks; I'll take a 2D fighter over a 3D one anyday.

DOA makes me very happy. Soul Caliber isn't bad, but all I liked of it was the mode on Soul Caliber 1 where you had a world map and could go to certain places, fight matches, and earn points to unlock the gallery. I loved the art, it was my only motivation.

well Soul Claiber 3 is now out and is so damn addicting it's not funny

the create a character rpg/stratagy game is AWSOME, even if at the moment i AM getting schooled by some bastard warlord wannabe with a true Soul Edge. (i hate it when the jerk regains health by carving on ME!)

you can also custom color the standard characters, and thier pair of costumes (not as large a selelction as in 2, but you can do a lot with what they give you) but the true masterpeice of this game is the create a character feature. the more you play, the more parts you unlock for this mode as well as weapons (i have a hell of a lot more people parts then i do weapons unfortunatly)

but as you play through the rpg/stratagy game, you can unlock the ability for certain classes of characters (jobs) to learn multiple weapons styles, including the Soul Of --------- (insert regular cast character here) so your newly created character, can fight just like your favorite.

over all................12 out of 10

Local Rhinos game shop, please carry Soul Calibur 3 promptly so I may too create a character and throw down polygonal weapons style in SC3 glory.

Hey...

Is there an unarmed class, like Heihachi from SC2?

Hey...

Is there an unarmed class, like Heihachi from SC2?

if there is, then i ain't found it yet, and it's not for lack of searching

there IS a new style that i've never seen in the game before.

foot blades

that and if your not careful, the shop girls will jump you while your out adventuring (don't laugh! i actually had them show up and attack me! the item shop girl is a kicker, the weapons shop girl is a staff user, and the armor shop girl is a dancer (uses tamborines) to say i was suprised by that development is an understatement.)

oh well, back into chronicls mode, and see if i can kill that bastard that has the true soul edge. i hate it when they heal themselves by carving on me........

I've been playing Soul Calibur 3 literally all weekend.

GOD.

I've never been this addicted to a fighting game like this ever before.  It's not rigid like Tekken, or super fast like Guilty Gear, but something's just so extra special about this uber refined installment of Soul Calibur that makes it stand out as a fighting game I want to play for many years to come. Couple that with the new create a character feature, and I'll be playing this well into 2008.

I'm on Chronicle 20 now, and have just about every class except Knight.  I've got to say; Ninja class and its kunai are extremely broken and from what I've seen will probably make it to the top of the tiers for this game.  I've got a feeling that just about everyone will be playing standard bonus character Greed(old man ninja) at tournies this year.  A few of his moves combo on block, make him hard to counter, and are generally fast enough to shut down nearly any attack.  In addition to the man's crazy speed he also has a teleport throw, and even worse a rising backflipping kick that hits OTG and can juggle with little effort.  Naturally, I play as him every time. :D

The create a character feature is wicked awesome too.  Thanks to the large number of historical Japanese items available you can make just about any kind of samurai anime character, in addition to several styles of knights, fighters, and fantasy themed characters.

So far I've been able to make Baiken and Axl Low from Guilty Gear, Satomi from Variable Geo, and even the Samurai Class from Makai kingdom.  I've heard that you can also make Cloud Strife, Tifa Lockheart, Crono, Magus, and a host of others.  Even more rocking, there's a specter hood in the CAC that you can use to make Death, which looks perfect when equipped with a scythe.  Tonight I'm going to give creating Chip Zanuff a shot, for the sake of Chip Zanuff and black Chip Zanuff. :D

how do you get the images off your PS2?

I use a capture card.  Basically I run the PS2 cable through the converter that came with my capture card and take screenshots.

It's an ATI TV Wonder PRO I believe.  It was given to me last Christmas for being a good boy. :D

well, its official

the sword master class is NOT "able to use any weapons discipline"

made it all the way to level 99, the next level part of the display went blank, and all the disciplines for the standard characters are still unavailable to the swordmaster class.

on the other hand, i have learned how to be INCREADABLY CHEAP with the dagger/bomb combo skills

I have SC3, and I like to pretend I don't suck at it. At least I completed Chronicles of the Sword (mostly by sheer stupid luck), so I have every single custom part available. The only ones I need to buy are the really expensive ones.

Anyway, I'm vascillating between Siegfried, Cassandra, and Setsuka, trying to get good enough with one of them so I can finally take on another human being. Doubtful that's gonna happen, though.

Cassi is a good middle of the road character for you, decent speed and reach with her weapon, as well as some easy/cheap moves you can re use over and over

Seig is all about the power. he's slow, but he's got a hell of a reach, and you ALWAYS know when he's hit you, blocked or not.

Setsuka is like another version of Taki. her weapons range isn't the greatest, but she is crazy fast with her speed.

of the three, i'd suggest the fastest character, but then again untill i started playing with the created souls, i was a Taki user, (and not just because of her costumes) but now i find that the chinese blade (the normal form of Soul Caliber) is a very versitile style. that and when you get rid of all the dance style moves that Xianghua uses, it's also a fairly brutal way to deliver a beat down on someone. (the running double kick is a personal fav for an opening attack at the start of a round)

That's funny, because when I used the chinese blade, I'd barely be able to land hits.

Oh, I also like Raphael, but he's so crazy that I feel like I'd lose track of him while dodging and poking and stuff. Not good.

Thanks for the advice, though. When I get some time, I'll train a little more.

You may want to give the Rapier a try.  It's got all of the speed of Rapheal, but less of the fuss.  Also, Amy (the girl Raphael protects) uses the Rapier, and since she's a standard character she's probably tournament legal, plus she's just so darned cute with her A-cup breasts and Anita from Darkstalkers silent treatment thing going on.

Man, I love this game.  I'm a beast with Astaroth against the computer.  My favorite character in the game is Voldo.  My favorite custom weapon is the lance.  CAN THIS GAME GET ANY BETTER!  Well, yes, but not by much!

well letting you use your created characters in ALL the modes would be a good start, as well as adding costume parts that will allow you to build the regular cast

(i would love to be able to use some of the regulars costume elements in my custome's)

Well, Jesus!  I guess I'd better get goin' on my X-mas list!

My wife used to kick my ass all the time on a SC machine in the student center at my first college.  I wasted most of my food money jes' trying to get 'nuf experience to be able to whip her soundly, but she is a beast at SC.

Thanks for the rave reviews.  I've gotta get this game.

Dumbing down the amout for items would help immensely.

On a side note, my SC III OST arrived yesterday.

Whose's ass at Namco do I need to put my foot in to thank them for the cancelation of the Tekken 5 OST?!
