Title: Mighty Morphin Power Rangers
Post by: ROMate on July 10, 2006, 12:05:10 am
14 seasons long! Some better than others. This show is based on the Super Sentai series in Japan, and all episodes feature footage from the original Sentai series. Discussion goes here.

The original was the best imo (maybe because I grew up to it?). The spin-offs don't appeal to me anymore.

Green Ranger story got me really hooked. Got lame when he turned good.

I watched the series up until the point where that kid joined the team as the Blue Ranger.  I still need to see that Forever Red episode, which sounded quite interesting after reading the synopsis.

Ah Power Rangers.  Good times. The series was good until they started changing out Rangers, or at least I stopped watching after that.

I watched it up through Turbo, and never had any problems with it until I got back into it around Dino Thunder/SPD. At this point, I looked back upon my Ranger experience and decided:

1: Despite the terrible cheese factor, the first few seasons had the best villains (Goldar and Zedd), the best Rangers (Jason, Zack, Adam), and some of the best story arcs (Green with Evil).

2: At Turbo, they took a crap on us. Justin, the Blue Ranger, was terribly contrived and took way too much to fit into the series.

3: Tommy is way overrated.

I thought Ninja Storm was okay. Ninja fanboyism nonwithstanding.

And SPD was pretty decent.

But to be honest, I still believe that all the original versions from which every american version came (Kyoryu Sentai ZyuRanger, Gosei Sentai DaiRanger, Ninja Sentai KakuRanger, Chouriki Sentai OhRanger, Gekisou Sentai CarRanger, Denji Sentai MegaRanger, Seiju Sentai GingaMan, Kyukyu Sentai GoGo V, Mirai Sentai TimeRanger, Hyakuju Sentai GaoRanger, Ninpu Sentai Hurricanger, Bakuryuu Sentai AbaRanger, Tokusou Sentai DekaRanger, Mahou Sentai MagiRanger and [as of 2007] GoGo Sentai Boukenger) are much better.

I don't know how to get access to that material, or I'd look for myself.

Well I know of one place, Tvnihon.com

It has bittorrents for most of the sentai series out there and several of the Post Ishinomori Kamen Rider shows.

TV Nihon fansubbed Magiranger. They SHOULD still have the subs up for torrent.

They are also working on Boukenger (which will be over here next year as Power Rangers: Operation Overdrive).

Edit: Good timing, Raven.

Do they have all the series subbed?

Some of them.

Though I think they dropped a majority of them. I know they don't have Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger anymore.

For the record, that's Dinosaur Task Force Beastranger. The very first show to get made into Power Rangers. (Jetman was so close to making it here... but the test audience was a buncha derps.)

Is there any way I could get the original series? Really it's the only one I'd be interested in seeing.

I liked the first Mighty Morphin Power Rangers too, great villians, good plot lines, and it was pretty damn cool.

You know what else was good? The MOVIE. I thought the Movie was really damn good. But after that it was just kind of like "Blah"

Yeah, the movie was a serious step up. It did kinda feel bland going back to the TV-budget Rangers afterward.

man, i remembered back in the day i LOVED power rangers as a kid, before i even knew about anime and american re-makes of japanese shows...  i used to have a lot of the old zord toys too, but i'm pretty sure my parents helped sell them off once i stopped playing with em... =/

hmm, i'm not too keen on Paypal either.  i think you need either a debit or credit card and a bank account to determine where the money is sent and received, something like that.  i just used money orders to pay for the stuff i got on eBay, since i don't currently own a debit or credit card (i STILL haven't gotten that nanako art book in yet, btw), but it seems that a lot of sellers only accept Paypal, as it seems to be the safest way to transfer funds...  you could go to paypal.com and look around on their site to see what all you need to do to set up an account.

The funny thing is I belive in the orignal Jap version the Green Ranger was killed off literally. Matter of fact I still have the dam Green Ranger, & Dragonzord & its box. One of these days It might be worth ebaying.

I believe you can actually catch varous episodes from the past on web. Type Jetix into a search engine.

Side note:
Three of the female power rangers have done nude seens in movies.
Kimbery-Amy Jo Johnson
Katherenine- was a nude dead body in a movie
Yellow Ranger from Power Rangers Lost galaxies did a nude scene as the foriegn exchange student in the Movie Not Just Another Teen Movie. She is full frontiel nudety.

Kat was in the Cell as a dead body. Kim was in Pursuit of Happiness.

Lost in space wasn't that bad actually. One of my faves...they killed Zordon!

I liked the original version of that one better. Denji Sentai Megaranger > Power Rangers In Space.

Install Megaranger!

*gets out Digitizer, punches "335 Enter", becomes MegaRed*

Compared to other series of Power Rangers, In Space was one of the better seasons. I think it's useless to compare them to the original Sentai series, just because of how they make the changes to it.

True, but the editing kinda kills In Space for me. Megaranger shouldn't be about SPACE, it should be about VIDEO GAMES AND ELECTRONICS. In fact, it WAS about video games and electronics. Do you see where I'm going with this at all...?

Not really, since I only saw maybe a quarter of In Space.

Heh. I must just be a little bit too old. MMPR was on when I was in like the fith, sixth or seventh grade. I remember the Green Ranger three-parter and the Pink Ranger, Kim! I also remeber Zed and that evil chick... uh... Rita. Ha! Can't believe I remember her name!

I also remeber I had such a crush on a neighbor girl who looks sooo much like Anna Kournikova with super long French braid. She biked a lot and wore those super tight biking shorts and a sports bra. GAH!!!
