Lately I've been playing A LOT of Ragnarok Online. I play on the Clownphobia server.
http://clownphobia.com/
Since it's a private server, you can play Ragnarok Online there for free! I showed this to Catt Shinji a few days ago and we've been playing ever since.
If you've been looking for a good online game to play you should come join us. Even if you've never played we can help you get up to snuff, and how cool would it be for more people from the Congress partying and ninja kicking monsters where it counts? Damn cool if you ask me.
Not only does RO whup royal amounts of ass as a game, but we'd have lots of fun ganging up on monsters and causing general havoc. So check it out!

FREE SERVER? Awesome!

If i can ever get it downloaded with my slow dail-up,i'll gladly join your army anytime, Hyperguy!

Well, I've gone to the website, but how exactly to I get the free RO? the free trial seems to expire after 15 days.

Since it's a privately owned server, Clownphobia and Official Ragnarok Online aren't affiliated.
That means that you'd have to download the game from Clownphobia in order to play on their servers. You can download it here:

I shall join your clan of awesome if 1: I can finish the client download, and 2: my registration email would show up already.

Well, I'll be joining up, then.

Pretty much my dial up would take almost 3 days to download it all...lol...i'm gonna see if one of my pals can get it onto a CD for me,so i can just install it off the CD...all my friends have broadband...and right now,i'm saving money to go to Gencon in August, and i'm buying a pal's Turbographics and Lynx collection...so no comp upgrade for me for a bit.

If it's possible, they could split it into parts and put it on two CDs after download.

w00t more fun for all XD, remember to post ur character names if u get the game running guys, so we can know who to private message in game, and bug the hell out of :)

KiinanWiriyamasu
JonusuMorutani
AndyWurland
My three guys.
-
Only made one char so far: Arinala, a woefully under-equipped swordswoman. Better start looking for cash.
-
I'd play it, but I can never remember to get online and play. Or if I do, there's other things I need to/would rather do.

Which is your main? You must have previous RO experience to be using more than one.
We should all meet up sometime.

I'll message you everytime I sign on.

I'll bug you enough times to make the difference. >:3
-
I'm up to my neck in summer school right now, so I'd probably only play on the weekends anyway (if that). Maybe when fall starts back.

Actually, I just made them all at the same time. But it's highly likely I'll be using Kiinan the most, seeing as he's named after my Story Character/RPG Hero/Dating Sim Lucky Bastard/Beat-Em-Up Strong Dude.

Word to all you folks: The promotion quest to knight has been killer so far.
-
I joined up a little while ago with a mage character. Regdren is his name, surprisingly enough.
Since mages are squishy (when are they ever not?) any offers for party fighting would be greatly appreciated.
Also, I have trouble believing what a horrible grind the official RO must be. At 13x experience the pace is pretty good, perhaps a little slow at times. If I was getting .2% of a level instead of 2.6% for an average enemy, I'd have quit within the first hour of playing it.
-
Word to all you folks: The promotion quest to knight has been killer so far.
I made a 2-handed Quicken based Knight waaaaay back a few summers ago, who owned hardcore. It'll be worth it, trust me.

Already knew that from seeing them in action. I now have half of the monster parts I need, though I can't even reach the place I need to go to to get bug's legs.
-
It might be worth mentioning when we're usually online to make forming a party easier.
I go by Eastern Standard time.
For me, weekends are obviously best, usually in the afternoon. 2-5 P.M. is great.
On weekdays, I'm usually on at around 8 in the evening. Sometimes I'm on earlier in the day, but not that often.
Hope to meet some of you in-game.
-
My character's name on RO is also Hyperguy. I usually play from anywhere to 6 p.m. to late at night. I'm on Eastern time. Regdren's magic is intense. I still haven't found KiinanWiriyamasu.
-
Well, I just made Knight, and I have to say it was worth it. My HP almost doubled from the promotion, and Two-hand quicken is a killer skill. Now all I need are some slotted boots and I can use that Zombie card I found.
-
This game sounds pretty fun...hopefully later this year when i can upgrade to broadband i can join the army.
-
So do you have to do a quest in order to get your Peco Peco?
-
Sorry, haven't been playing much.
Also, what part of this server are you on? If it's the one with the test, then I am stuck on the freaking test.
-
You mean the tutorial?
After you pass the tutorial you're put into the game world. From there you can use towns to warp from place to place. Everything's connected and you can try walking, though it's much faster to warp.
Also, you can skip the tutorial completely.
-
I recommend going through the entire tutorial, if for no other reason than your get some free levels and items.
Also, my main character is a wizard now. In a day or two I'll put up a new thread with tips on how to play as a mage, plus the test to become a wizard. My wizard FAQ will be a while....first I have to level everything up and reincarnate so that I know the process as well as I can. Honestly though I'm not in a huge rush about that...maybe I'll try a second character at some point. The Merchant-Alchemist path looks interesting; being able to brew potions for the Awesome team seems pretty appealing.
-
Apparently, all I need is the ride skill and the cash to rent a Peco Peco. Not grand quest for this one, though I do wish there was some way I could get myself a permanent riding bird. I'd be willing to go through a quest for such a boost in overland movements.
Anyway, since I'm crazy, I'm going to go an archer/dancer path with my secondary.
-
What are the different classes for RO? If I was to play it, I'd want to be something that's not what someone else is (I hate having 2 people in the party with the same class).
-
Ooh, where to start. This link will help:
http://iro.ragnarokonline.com/game/jobintro.asp
Each basic class has 2 branches for promotion, so overlap shouldn't be too much of a problem.
Although the guides in Gamefaqs.com are rather old, their advice on builds and stat growth is pretty solid, so if you want more info on a specific class I recommend that you look there.
Edit: Apparently there's a martial artist class on our server that isn't in the site I referenced. It isn't in any of the FAQs either. Perhaps the people at Clownphobia added it in? Anyway, Hyperguy would know about that class, so if you're curious you can ask him about it.
-
Might be nice to have a list of what classes are already taken amongst the hyperguy guild. Or what classes are really needed to round out the group. Maybe both.
-
Well, I'm Taekwon. It's one of the newest classes so it isn't listed in many places. It's based around melee attacking and kicks.
Regdren's got a Mage.
R-9's got a Knight now.
I remember YTF saying that he'd play Mage after his download finishes.
Catt Shinji's got an assassin and a dancer.
-
Hrm. Not sure what's left. Anything the party needs in particular?
-
It looks like there's still merchant, archer, theif, and acolyte.
Then there's the Level 2 jobs that base class evolves into like Monk, Rogue, Bard, Sage, Crusader, etc.
I think it'd be best to pick a class you like and are effective with. I'm actually kind of suprised that no one's tried being a Priest yet, since they're one of the more powerful classes in the game. Then again, they're mainly support so they may not be as fun to play as say a swordsman.
I'm excellent with mages in RPGs myself, but don't like having to manage SP so I went with a melee class.
-
I can't stand filling a support role. Since you usually gain EXP by killing monsters, and support classes suck at killing monsters, I find it tedious and frustrating to level up as one. I might go for a Monk or Crusader.
-
You guys may have a full party by the time i can afford to get broadband. (Saving up for Gencon in August, plus i just bought my buddy's entire Turbographix 16 and Atari Lynx collection.)
But,whenever i can get broadband,i'll play RO with you guys sometime (Darn my slow as hell dial-up...lol)
-
HG, if you're going to choose between Monk and Crusader, I recommend Crusader. The Monk class requires that you play as an Acolyte first, which is mostly healing support and stat buffs. As I understand it, that's the sort of thing you wanted to avoid. Also, from what I've heard Monks aren't all that impressive.
Edit: that having been said, if you still want to try a monk you can find a guide here:
http://db.gamefaqs.com/computer/doswin/file/ragnarok_online_monk_c.txt

Not only does RO whup royal amounts of ass as a game
Lies!
*sits huddled in fetal position in room with circle of anti-Gravitycorp salt around him* *sob*
PS - Holy shit, those rates are high.
-
Are you okay?
-
well i'll be joining up, not that anyone gives two shits, lol. i'll come back and edit this post with my name once i'm done dl'ing it.
-
It looks like there's still merchant, archer, theif, and acolyte.
For the record, I'm considering filling that merchant niche. (And probably on to the alchemist role rather than blacksmith.)
-
Likelihoods of what I will be:
Mage character.
Female.
Name: "NancyRyman" (if that's possible).
How I play:
-I move around like a nomadic hobo with ADD after taking speed, I hate standing in one place too long THAT much. As such, I do horribly in parties and generally actively avoid 'em. I'll join your guild, but expecting me to stick around one place too long is asking me to get really antsy, unless there's some cool quest that requires me to be in one AND in the area at all times, in which case, sign me up.
-Just because I can, I like to, every once in a while, take on a monster I have no business fighting just to see if I can kill one (remember Mushmom?).
-I have a 56k. Enough said.
-I generally split my time between exploration, killing stuff, and weirding out/annoying/scaring other players, so I don't gain EXP as fast as most (anyone who's seen me play Maple knows it).
And keep in mind I'm a Maple Story player, so I will probably split time between the two games.
-
JG00, if you decide on the Merchant/Alchemist path and need help leveling let me know. From what I've read, that class is pretty tough to advance, especially with a pure brewer build.
Also, I found a brewer NPC in Alberta; he's in the southwest building in that town. Bring 2 herbs of the appropriate type plus an empty bottle and he'll make a potion for you. Alchemist characters are naturally better at that sort of thing, though.
-
Don't think I could deal with only brewing potions - I'd probably be more apt to focus on the axe or summoning skills.
-
To be fair, one can brew more than healing potions with that skill, but I see your point. It's not fun to use a melee class without strength, agility, or vitality. Fortunately base level and points in the appropriate skill are a big factor, plus Dex is something you'll want to have anyway so it shouldn't be too bad. I look forward to seeing how it works out; I've always been a fan of quirky classes but when I created my first character I wasn't sure if I'd be able to get people to party with; most guilds don't accept levels lower than 70. Anyway, good luck with your character.
-
Are you okay?
No.
After sixty posts isn't at least that much obvious? XD
And looking at the Jail list and some of the reasons and some of the touchy mods... I get a little worried. I've had numerous bad experiences with power drunk and touchy moderators. Like on servers where you can't say "doodie" without getting a warning.
-
doodie
I hereby warn you that such language will not be tolerated.
-
YTF and other dial-up users, be warned: there's well over 100 megs of patches that have to be downloaded and installed after installation.
-

Oh shit... Tell me that THAT download won't restart from zilcho the moment my internet connection cuts out. Otherwise, fuck and shit, I will not be able to play until I get a faster connection.

I guess if I had wrote it in caps it would have been more obvious.
ARE YOU OKAY? BUSTA WORF!
So far I haven't had any problems with mods, let alone talked to any of them, and have said some off color things while out adventuring.
-
Nice gaming yesterday. Hyperguy, yesterday we were talking about secondary characters, and we mentioned you becoming a mage and me becoming an Acolyte. I did some research and it turns out that there are a some acolyte/priest spells that are very beneficial to mage/wizard builds. For example, Blessing(acolyte) increases Int and Dex, and Suffragium (priest) reduced cast time by up to 45%. So if we do decide to build up our secondaries we could have some decent teamwork there. And of course healing is always nice.
Edit: the stat boosts that an acolyte/preist can give would also help with the crafting classes.
-
i actually got an assasin, 2 battlesmiths(1 is vendor cuz i screwed up and one is agility build) whole buncha random noobs i used for nov pot transfering and my dancer :D which i actually spend most time on, Rebellious Crit Whip Build ftw :D, But yeah JG00 if you wanna be a merchant , they turn into BLacksmiths And later on Master Smith, Very very good damage character in the game :) worth it..(plus they can make high lvl things and sell :D) and R-9, dancer is very fun :) (truthfully im 78,48 dancer atm and i havnt even added any skills into dancing yet, just the attack skills XD, whip + arrow sling is fun enough haha)

Edit: Ah, and my archer's name is Taranil.

Oh shit... Tell me that THAT download won't restart from zilcho the moment my internet connection cuts out. Otherwise, fuck and shit, I will not be able to play until I get a faster connection.
Yeah, when i tried downloading the game,it said it would take me almost 68 hours, and i can't tie up our phone line for that long...lol...so i have to wait until sometime after Gencon in August so i can upgrade to broadband to play this with everyone. When i'm finally on,i'll take a support role if people want me to.I've played Force characters many time in multiplayer games of PSO Plus,so i'm used to beaing the team healer and such...lol
-
It's true that the Blacksmith can be very potent offensively. The alchemist can be an excellent healer though, if you don't mind spending some cash on it. They get a lot of stacking potion bonuses and can use potions on friends.I'd like to see a blacksmith in action though; most of the melee types I've seen are some variant on the swordsman or thief.
Edit: My acolyte is levelled up a bit and can join parties now. He's not amazing, but you'll save a lot of money on potions.
Edit MkII: His character name is Anlaf. I can't believe I forgot to mention that.
-
This "Crusader" class looks interesting... one of those new second tiers they put in just before I stopped playing the legal version.
NO I NOT OKAY I CRY INSIDE sob where are all the second tier trainers, anyways? Does this site have a guide?
-
Speaking of blacksmiths, is there any blacksmith NPC that'll refine iron ore into iron?
-
Not that I know of. I've seen some that will refine Elunium and Oridecon, but no iron. I think that only player blacksmiths can refine that.
-
Thats what I'm finding out. And becuase player blacksmiths are so rare, I might never get that pushcart now :-(
-
It is possible to get refined iron as monster drops. This info is from the Clownphobia item database, though I don't know if the drop rates are before or after the X7 boost.
Dropped By: ChonChon(0.5%), Orc Warrior(2.1%), Golem(3.5%), Steel ChonChon(2%), Goblin(2.7%), Goblin(2.5%), Goblin(2.3%), Goblin(1.7%), Goblin(1.5%), Skeleton Worker(4%), Zerom(1.9%), Angry ChonChon(0.5%), Iron Fist(3%), Orc(2.1%), Goblin ?(2.7%), Smoking Orc(2.1%), Christmas Goblin(2.7%), Cruiser(3.2%), Goblin Archer(2.5%), Orc Lady(3%), Steam Goblin(3%), Goblin Leader(12%), Panzer Goblin(3.6%), Antique Firelock(55%), Eq. ChonChon(0.5%), Orc Warrior(2.1%), Steel ChonChon(2%), Metaling(2.5%), Obsidian(3%), Pitman(3%),
Some enemies that drop iron also drop iron ore so don't get discouraged. If I ever get some spare iron I'll let you know.
Post your character name and I'll give you any iron that I come across.
-
>.< that item database should have the monsters that drop sorted by drop rate descending... it gets so tiring perusing that item database =/
it's still hella useful though. god I never even knew RO had that many items till I looked at the item database.
-
I read that metallings drop them at a fairly decent rate. Too bad I haven't found where they're all hidden yet. Of the two gamefaqs that mention them, one is missing metaling from its enemy list, the other says they're in locations that they're not (sounds like thier map skills are poor or the clownphobia map is somehow different)

ok, i made a toon! my name is sevren!
-
Great! Hope to see you online. If you could tell us your character name and class it'll be easier to help you as you go.
Update on my account: my character neams are Regdren (Wizard) Anlaf (Acolyte) and RayMebert (Merchant). Erm, don't ask about that last one.
My acolyte is 56/42 and getting experience is a real struggle alone. At first it was easy because Heal allowed me to kill undead enemies that were otherwise way beyond my means. The only problem is that, while fast to cast, Heal drains SP like crazy. So at this point it's kill maybe three enemies for 5% experience, lose all SP while doing it, then either return to town or sit and wait. It's more time consuming than either of my other characters.
My build is pretty much full support, designed with parties in mind. So if anyone else is at a similar level, joining up with my acolyte would be greatly appreciated. Come on, help me promote to Priest so I can learn the fun stuff like Ressurrect and Glory!
-
My merchant, Estel Vyse, is 55/42. Can't get much closer in levels. I've been earning my experience 1 west and 1 north of alberta where the bigfeet, eggyra and elder willows roam. They're giving about 1-2% at this level and I can kill 5-10 between rest stops, depending how often they succeed in hitting me. Plus they drop elumium every once in a while. If I didnt have to rest to heal up, I'd be able to tear through them just about nonstop, though I would need to recharge my Cart Revolution every so often.
Look for me tomorow night. Or just find Hyperguy and join our party so you'll be able to see when I'm on and where I am.

whats funny is i didnt even read this post til after it had happened XD, me and hyperguy always run into eachother randomly, but this is funny.......a certain supernovice ran into you and asked for a butterfly wing for 10k :D, friends insued, :-O wonder who that was XD bahahha
-
...yeah i played for about 20 min. today... this game is definatley not my thing.
-
The gamefaqs files on RO are hopelessly outdated.
Goddamn right they are =/
all I'm looking for is a good place for a Swordswomen to get exp and zeny --_-
I remember when I used to play iRO I would camp the second floor of Culvert nonstop but I never really got past 22-24-ish
now I'm like level 34 base level 20-something job, and ... everything either gives me crap exp or kicks the crap out of poor Izzy. I forgot how hard Thief Bug Males hit... so much different than females o_O according to @mobinfo, 9 levels different U_U
So I tried Ant Hell and forgot those buggers are aggro-linked -_- then Geffen dungeon and remembered (too late) Poison Spores are also linked -_-
Not even Magnum Break could save me (well it could if I had more than 70SP) I mean i see shops everywhere with everybody selling crap for like 120million and up and I'm like "will I ever be able to get any of this?" I also have always had a strong aversion to dumping monster loot for cash 'cuz more than a few times in iRO I've been screwed out of items and forging because I haven't had enough of some drop that if I had just kept them, I'd have enough, but now have to go back and camp like a bitch (and finding the monster with the best drop rate is bad enough as it is >.<)
God it's just that none of it is explicit, it's hard to tell what is useful and what isn't without consulting some long time RO expert. The game doesn't exactly help you, and none of the online databases and guides are worth shit -_- *sigh* Beginning to remember why I dropped iRO. But then again it's free so I can't complain >_>

Trust me, i had never even played before, i played for 2 weeks and i know not everything but enough to even help some veterans find out certain things at certain times. You pick up on it real easy, just ask questions when u can and keep trying :D
And about the money, generally decent things sell for 1-20 mil, but there are some really really rare things that sell for 100+ that have to be personally made at high risk of item destruction. My advice is to hunt certain cards, theres Thara frog card-15 mil, skele worker card, 10-15 mil, certain other ones(these monsters are easy). My personal favorite is hunting and training til 80 base lvl in sphins lvl 1 and 2,(zerom drops-zerom card[20 mil]shackles[100k]gangster mask[300k], Matyrs drop-Matyr card[6-7mil]Matyr Leash[decent lower lvl accessory] , Requiems Drop- Their Card(3 mil)Old Blue Boxes[my personal favorite, high rate of drop...u can sell easy for 100-150k each, but i usually open them as theres a chance u can get a really good item, such as blinker(20 mil) but most of the time u get crap...still fun gamble though.
anyway Drainliars are also there and u can get their card..1.5 mil its overall good place to train after u get ur first 2-1 job and until ur base lvl 80, hope that helps and hope u dig my awwwwsome grammarness
If you feel u arnt doing something right with ur stats and skills u can always make some money off of items and reset them for a price (300k for both skills and stats i believe) or u can remake ur character and check one of the guides on www.gamefaqs.com or ask around from higher lvl players, either one wont let u down
(Its realllllly easy to get items in this game, alls you have to do is type @Mi (monster name) to see their drops, and drop rates..they are like 5x rate than regular game, cards are harder than most but i got a zerom card right after saying to my friends " i think ill stay here til i get one" , its alllll luck, so stick with sphinx, wont let u down zenny wise) I also recomend making another account, and a quick merchant for lvl 10 vending, so u can sell things while u play and while ur afk
If you need help with anything ill be on my super novice every once and a while
-Matthew-
(one last thing- to find out where monsters are, go to www.roempire.com/database and use the monster database, look at the location and compare it to the world map on that site), kk hope all this helps the people that wanna play :D
-
Bang Doll, it looks like your swordswoman and my merchant are in about the same place. When are you usually online? I think there are things we can take on together. Bibiland Island's dungeon has a lot of monsters that are just a hair stronger than I can handle alone; maybe that would be a good place to try. Also, I have full discount and overcharge skills. I know how much depends on a melee fighter's equipment, so many I could help speed up the upgrade process for you.

what character are u on reg? :D
-
Well, I did make dancer some days ago, and I'm finding it to be a blast. I finally have a melee attack against things that eren't worth arrows, and Scream is a great skill against stuff when I'm going solo. I can make it to Payon 3rd all by myself.
-
Catt-Shinji: Right now? None of them. On weekdays I'm only really on RO during the evening, Eastern time.
When I do go online I find that I'm giving my merchant, acolyte, and wizard equal amounts of time, more or less. So if you're looking for me you should check all three names that I posted before.
My wizard is 70/41.
My aco is still 55/42. JG, I'll definately look out for you this evening; as far as my acolyte's abilities go the biiger the party, the better I am.
My merchant is about the same level as Bang Doll's swordswoman, though I forget the exact levels.
Edit: I realize that in the last few posts I may have been a little TOO eager to join up with other people in the Congress of Awesome. I guess it's partly from my time in Guild Wars where you couldn't do much alone. I'll try to tone it down a bit from now on.
-
whats funny is i didnt even read this post til after it had happened XD, me and hyperguy always run into eachother randomly, but this is funny.......a certain supernovice ran into you and asked for a butterfly wing for 10k :D, friends insued, :-O wonder who that was XD bahahha
That was you? I'll repeat it again, you obviously have way too much money on your hands to be tossing 10k on a butterfly wing.
-

OMG guild wars and soloing >.< brings back even more memories. Bloody henchmen useless.
Anyways I"m usually on late evening weekdays/weekends, EST. I'm going to log on for a few hours right now.
Edit: BTW, that RO Empire link was bloody awesome. Tried ragnamart, emperium, ragnarokhq... all the old sites I used to go when I played iRO. But RO Empire seems decently up to date, and their general RO DB is huge and easy to use ^^
But one question: in the monster articles, and on map section articles... there is like, this number in brackets next to a location's name (in monster articles) or next to a monster's name (in location articles) so uhh... what do they mean? They're not the same for every monster and they don't match up to level or anything so... eh? And what are red-colored mobs in map locations supposed to mean? I can't find a FAQ on the site.
-
My experience is that means it's the % chance of that monster being spawend on that particular map.
-
i believe its the amount of monsters of that type that can spawn in that area at once, for instance, there are only [1] devling or angeling in one of the payon maps, yet theres like up to [40] poporings
-
Ahh yes, that seems to make sense. And helps a lot, too! Only thing better would be general idea of where they most commonly spawn inside the location itself, but damn I'm counting my blessings =)
-
I was out hunting High Orcs when I discovered something. Of course, some of you already know this, but...
The total damage tally isn't capped at 9999. After playing so many RPGs where I can't break 10,000 damage this is pretty refreshing.
Also, I really like my wizard.
-
Wow, you must be strong enough to take on MVPs now. O_O
-
You're referring to the Orc Hero, I think. High Orcs are just normal monsters. The Hero brings a bunch of them with him as he walks around. It would take a pretty good party to win that fight.
High Orcs alone? Not a problem.
Edit: I misread what you were saying. No, my wizard can't take on an MVP. Not alone, anyway. Though it would be fun for all of us to get together and take one on.
-
Sorry to double post, but I think this is worth knowing. I managed to get a piece of Emperium from a street vendor. How did I know it was a good price? Because it was something I could actually afford! Emperium usually sells for 3 or 4 times my net worth, so...there you go. Hyperguy, if you want to start the Awesome guild just contact me in-game to I can send the Emperium to you. I'll be around from 8 to 10 P.M. or so today and tomorrow.
-
So you guys are really going to make the Awesome guild? That's hilari- I mean, that's great! And awesome.
-
Heh. Our guild probably won't be capturing castles anytime soon. Right now it'll be more for keeping in touch more easily in-game, I think.
I might not actually be able to hand it over today; for some reason my Internet connection is very erratic right now. But be assured I'll have the Emperium for you as soon as I can give it.
-
Ooh I'd really like to play. I'm gonna be miles behind the curve though.
-
We're helpful folks though Roomy.
-
Are the positions of Crusader and/or Monk still open?
-
I recommend that you go with whatever the heck you want, Roommate. Two characters of the same type won't doom the guild. Besides, having multiple characters is not uncommon; chances are we'll be able to fit a balanced party together some way or another. Either that or just use brute force to beat up everything.
For big party ventures I'll probably bring my priest, rather than my wizard. So if you're still worried about what might be "taken," that slot is open as well. But seriously, just go with what you like. There's no point in playing a character you don't enjoy using.
-
True. Guess I'll make the downloads this evening.
-

Awesome. I've been looking for some for a while so it's nice to finally be able to make the guild. I'll look for you each time I'm on.
In other news, I started a Bard character named Shadow Dio. If you haven't seen me as frequently it's because I've been playing as him. I found a girlie who wanted to start a new class with me so we decided to team up as a dancer/bard combo.
-
The joke is that his bard will sing, her dancer will dance, and my alchemist will make the alcohol.
-
Do I just need to download the client? Or will I definitely need the drivers and crap?
-
Speaking of Crusaders, I wish RO wasn't so focused on creating specific builds (or at least not charging you like 200k just to reset your stats and skills)
I still can't decide of Izzy will be a Str sader or an Int sader. I mean what is better, shield skills, or Grand Cross? damnit why can't I have both >.< She's definitely going Vit of course... was considering spear mastery but what's the point when all the worthwhile spear skills are reserved for Knights.
-
Download's finished! I'll be playing tonight around 7-ish.
-
I finally got onto it. The character's name is Metahorn.
-

I guess it depends on what you fight. If you become a paladin, can't you have the best of both worlds since you'll have more stat points to go around?
-
I'd argue that putting together a class solely for the merits of its reborn final class is not such a great idea. Also, I'm not sure how big the extra 40 stat points really are. It might be what's needed to do as Hyperguy suggests, it might not. If anyone's reincarnated in this game then please let us know how it is; your insight would be appreciated.
That having been said, it's my understanding that crusaders are a worthwhile class to go for as long as you pick one path and stick with it...of course that's true of most classes. But building an Int crusader sounds pretty tough. If I was going to try it, I'd do it after building up plenty of cash and other resources with previous characters. I'd go the strength route as a swordsman, level up until I have the raw stat/skill points I need for and Int crusader, then just reset the stats to what I need. It sounds like Izzy is at the point where the choice has to be made, and since I haven't tried it myself the only other thing I can say is...either way, I'd like to see how the build turns out for you. Good luck.
-

I doubt it'd make that big a difference; not to mention, knowing Gravity kr and their tendency to create incredibly high powered enemies at end of the world areas in RO, I doubt a "middle of the road" type build would be anything other than a drag on a potential party. That's just the way these Diablo-esque games are built I guess (and that's probably always been my problem with Diablo II, and the mass of Korean MMO-clones that copy the Diablo style)
BTW speaking of Paladins, what is up with that Gloria Domini or whatever it's called? On one site I saw it was some spell that threw down this cross-like object with a set amount of damage, but on some other site it claimed that the spell was some homage to Monty Python with a giant foot stomping on your enemies? It showed a pretty convincing pic too, on the forums somewhere. So... err... what's up with that? (and is it better than Grand Cross or what?)
Anyone else think Crusader females look cooler than Paladin females? >_>
-
Hi guys! *jumps onto the scene, SF2 NEW CHALLENGER style*
I have an Acolyte who I've thought about making into a Monk, but if you guys need a Full-Support Priest, I could do that. I'd just need someone to level with me 'till I hit job level 50. My base level is...I think, 60 or 61 right now.
-
Um. Base level 60 is a bit late to choose which promoted job you're aiming for. I've got a full support priest, but as far as I know we don't have a monk. If that's what you want, then by all means go for it. A believe that Hyperguy thinks they're pretty cool. Just make sure you have the skill and stat prerequisites for it; a lot of the basic monk skills requires maxed out Acolyte skills that are not really compatible with full support, and the stats required are very different.
-
Character update: I now am also playing around as Larina, an Assassin.
-
There's a quest to open the dungeon in Amatsu castle that you all probably know about. It's a great zeny mine with frequent drops of Star Crumbs and other nice items. The biggest obstacle in the quest is the swarm of Kapha that are a fair deal more difficult than what you'd be fighting in the dungeon. Most annoying is that you have to send each seperate character that you want to go to the dungeon. Despite being given a pass that can be transferred by storage, only a character that's completed the quest can enter the dungeon.
This quest is a lot easier for some kinds of characters than others. Fortunately, I can help you get to the shrine through the use of a priest spell. My priest, Anlaf, has memorized a warp point just outside the shrine entrance. With this, he can open a warp portal allowing anyone to get right through the annoying part of the quest. It's a very short walk, but you'll probably get hit one or two times along the way anyway. For that reason I recommend not trying it with unpromoted characters; they wouldn't be able to take advantage of the dungeon anyway.I'll increase your durability before you go in but you might want to bring a couple of high-strength healing items to use along the way. Also, attach a butterfly wing to one of your hot keys so that you can quickly escape once you have to leave the shrine again.
If any of you want some help to complete this quest, send me a message or just contact me in-game. Hope you find this useful.

LET ME IN DAMMIT.

And Clownphobia deletes my account. FUCK. I was on my way, too.

That's harsh. I don't think I'm alone in saying that you need only ask for help in getting re-started and I'll do everything I can to get you back to where you were. Hopefully lost and found will come through for you.
Here's a couple of topics on clownphobia regarding what happened yesterday:

I re-registered and everything's fine. Hyperguy helped me catch up. I still hate that I had to re-do everything.
-
I just tried out WolfRO. For those who don't know, that server has ridiculously high drop and experience rates. Getting a character into the 90s level range in a couple of hours is easy there. You don't need to re-register or get a new client for it. I wouldn't try WoE in Wolf because MVP cards simply are not designed for widespread use (how does complete magic immunity sound?). However, it's a great place for experimenting with builds if you don't want to do it in Lightside. Anyone unsure how to put together a particular kind of character should consider giving it a trial run in Wolf RO, in my opinion.
-
Yes, it has somewhere around 13,000 times the experience rates of regular RO. Which is like what, 1000 times what is even on LLRO?
Hilarious.
-
My little brother registered on Clownphobia and is playing LLRO now. I'll get his info from him later (or make him register and do it himself).
-
Hey folks. This is my first post on the site. I'm Roomie's lil brother. I used to lurk the forum here and there and then my bro told me about the RO guild you guys made... so here I am. I'm shooting for a Spear Knight and i'm already level 40 somethin. I forgot how crazy this game was. I've been playing FF11 for about a month now and I just needed to dig into my roots again and wonder why the hell I spend so much money on a game that difficult. That's another story though...

Yeah, that's a good one. This (http://www.ro-guardians.com/calc/) one's good too. Lil' confusing, though. And no whee cool awesomeful pitchas =(
-
I use this one for my taekwon: http://ro.annahme.ru/calc/
-
I think I've seen that one before; it refers to Ghost as "Sense" like I believe iRO?
Anyways, nice find, thx for the link.
Edit: Okay, freaky experience just now. I was minding my own business east of Prontera along the coast, hunting Smokies and Yoyos. Then suddenly these two random players (who I later find out to be GMs though there's no way to know other than their GM abilities which I didn't recognize right away)
and they start walking RIGHT behind me. It freaks me out (playing a female avatar it wouldn't be the first time I've been "stalked" in-game by two male characters) so I warp away, and they warp to the EXACT same spot I warp to. then they freeze me and I finally realize they're GMs. Of course they never once SAID anything until I started yelling at them. So they apologized and let me go (apparently killing one smokie per ten minutes is suspicious of being a bot? I had just gotten to that zone too) So now I'm freaked out about that game >_>
-
I'm re-downloading the client. It says it'll be done in 15 hours. I hope this is a terrible lie, but with my school's crappy network, that is likely the actual time of download. see you guys on it tomorrow.
EDIT: Nevermind. It decided suddenly it would take a day and a half. I'll just download it this weekend when everyone goes home and the network gets the strain taken off it.
-
I was window shopping right after setting up my own shop tonight, and as it often happens during this time, new shops crop up. Sometimes people don't know the values of items so you get incredible deals. In five minutes time tonight I got the following:
Matyr Card for 2 million (usually goes for 6),
Pirate's Hairband for 13421 zeny (dont know what its worth but has to be more than 13k),
and 669 Maneater Blossoms for 200 zeny each (this will easily triple my supply of plant bottles)
Broke, but happy.

The RO patcheth.
EDIT: False alarm. d3d or GRF had an error, so it won't run. Gotta re-download it again.

Damn, bro. That's fuckin gay...
-
Did it again.
Why is it doing this? I downloaded and installed it twice, just to make sure it wasn't some fluke.
-
It could be because you don't have any graphics drivers installed. Or maybe you need direct x.
-
Ok...where do I get that stuff from?
-
You can get direct x here:

It's still happening. >=( Think I should re-install it?
-
I think that happened to me before when they patched something. I think that's the same error I got. It wouldn't let me run RO. Re-installing didn't help so I just waited then it started working again.
-
Waited? For what?
-
Waited for 24hrs. After that, the client running and all was well. Maybe start asking around in their forums first if you can't wait that long and probably the best thing to do. I hate it when these errors happen.
-
It works now.
Also, our 8 year old baby brother is on RO. He's a novice, shooting for wizard.
-
So yeah fuckl0rs. My comp is in the shop. I've no idea why. The only thing I look at that's remotely pornographic is from this site haha. It started when I DLed friggin Ad-Aware. My comp pretty much shut down and refused to wake back up. However, it could be from the humidity in the barracks. The airconditioning is absolutely horrible. Now we have 3 industrial sized humidifiers on our hall and every morning the trash bins that're being syphoned into are atleast ankle-deep with water. It's sick. Hopefully I'll have it back the night of Labor Day. If not, I'll slash my wrist. JK.
