Title: Hyperguy.net blocked by Websense
Post by: Hyperguy on March 25, 2006, 04:59:29 pm
If you have Websense running on your network, you're not reading this.

Anyhow, it looks like the site's been blocked by Websense.  The network on my school runs Websense, and as a result, I can no longer visit the site when I'm at school.  For the curious, they've catergorized the site as "Adult Content".  It looks like I didn't include enough Disgaea sprites to counteract this.

I'm thinking of going around the block by purchasing another domain name, like say, hypoguy.net or something.

Here's a funny article about Maddox and his experience with Websense:

At least you won't have to pay for another bandwidth upgrade as soon.

I need to check if Cross-Changer.net is blocked.

It isn't.

Which means that all of that time I'd spend visiting Hyperguy.net at school will probably be spent on the Cross Changer Forum now.

True.

Though to be honest, I don't remember when the last bandwidth upgrade was set to expire.  They last about a year.

Yeah, it'll be like a home away from home inbetween site visits.  Like a South Florida beach house.

Anywho, I'm still considering the purchasing a backup domain name thing.  Mainly because they're like what, seven dollars these days?

Funny story.  I was originally planning on having the site be Hyperguy.com.  Oh, how different things would be then.  We'd probably be 5 times more commercial and have Sprite cola as our sponser.

On a side note, I think me and Hypergirl.com should hook up.

It's a shame that Hyperguy.org is already taken.  But, vipergames.org isn't.  I might get that one or something similiar.

This just in--I made a subdomain for the forum and as a result, am now able to visit the forum again at school.

I've bypassed the block!

*Raises middle finger!*

"Take that, Websense!"

When you plan on doing any of this, let me know, I'll wire you some cash to help out with payments.

Because it's rough scrounging up seven dollars these days.

Actually, it's because I use his webspace, so it's only right to pay for it once in a while.

We're friends, so I don't mind.

In other news, congratulations Cross-Changer.net.

You've been blocked by Websense. D:

This is ironic.  A couple of weeks ago I wasn't able to visit Hyperguy.net because of the block, but just as I found my way around it Websense goes out of its way and blocks Cross-Changer.net, my designated site of visiting when I can't visit Hyperguy.net.  Boulderdash and poppycock!

You're too kind, but it's not gonna get you out of recieving money eventually.

I figure in the end I'm gonna end up sucking up even more room than I am now, so why the hell not lol.

One day at my junior college, I found their telephone number on their website and called Customer Service and cussed them out since I ticked at not getting to my Yahoo Groups. I just use my laptop @ school and don't bother with their machines.  I have no reason to use their equipment.
