Title: REQUEST - VIPER RSR
Post by: Hitchr on August 14, 2013, 11:46:47 pm
Hi

I don't know if I put that topic in the wrong place, if so, feel free to warn me.

I'd like to buy a viper rsr game (box version and maybe DVD version too). If anyone here has a version he's willing to sell, please make me an offer.

Thanks

There's one on ebay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sogna-Hyper-Animation-Series-Game-Viper-RSR-Special-Limited-Edition-Box-Set-/111124281761?pt=UK_PC_Video_Games_Video_Games_JS&hash=item19df85f9a1), but it's absurdly overpriced. All this seller's VIPER games are about 3 times what they should be.

Yeap I knew about this one. That's why I asked around here just in case anyone would be interested in selling his own even at a good price.
This ebay dude must have lost his mind. :-p

Is there a poster of the box art? Really cool cover.

Of course. (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/poster_rsr.jpg)

There's even a smaller size version, too. (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/rsr_mini-poster.jpg)

I believe JGOO was selling one at some point last year, so if it's not up on the SDM store then yeah, don't expect much.

I've had the DVD edition and Demo CD, but I dont think I've ever had a CD box set for sale.  In either case, I don't have any of them now.  I've only got the artbook and a couple of collector's items right now.

Cala is a pretty collectible character, so RSR stuff is becoming increasily rare in Japan as collectors soak up the excess material and then hold on it, so it never returns to the open market. (Can't blame them though, since I'm the same way about my personal collection.)  When RSR stuff does come on the market, its terribly expensive. I won't buy it for resale if I can't make a profit or at least break even on it (and I actually lost a few bucks on the RSR DVD set.)

On the bright side, the quantity and quality of VIPER items for sale has increased remarkbly since Comiket ended.

Cala is remarkably well-designed and very marketable character. It's apparent she still has a healthy fan base in the doujin scene, so i have to wonder why the ip owner (P-Warrior?) isn't doing anything.

Character designers generally don't enforce their copyrights against individuals in Japan. They allow doujinshi because it promotes the original material.  They would be against a rival company who tired to use their characters in a new game.  (Which is why Akira looks similar to Yuka, but is different enough.)

Unsure why P-Warrior hasn't done anything with the VIPER stuff, since it remains a well-enough known series that a comeback is still possible.  I suspect that character rights might be split between producer and designer, so it would require him to make new contracts with the designers to make new games.  That's assuming P-Warrior or the designers want to make new games (they likely don't, having moved on/back to animation) or that the effort would raise more money then they'd have to pour into it (unlikely)

Still, I appreciate the doujinshi and homebrew games that move the stories forward in some way, like the CCR project.  I'm less fond of any work that retells the story we already know (all the Cala monster rape doujinshi)

The Cala-monster-rape schlock is indeed getting tiresome, but that's only because they're recycling the same monsters >:(

There's a couple where the bad guys are humans, as in HIGH CALA.

Frankly I'm surprised we've never seen an undergrounder from V16/GTB get in on Cala.  Seems like the perfect crossover matchup.

Well, at least we get that crossover from a kind of different angle...

I'm disappointed Ta152 didn't follow up that pic with a crossover doujinshi inside the book though.  His covers are such a big tease (as Variable VIPERS has both Akira and Yuka in it, but not together in a story)

Cripes. Most of P-Warrior's works up on dlsite have a pitifully low amount of downloads :cry

There's worse stuff up on the site that get more hits.

Btw, i noticed there aren't any angry Viper icons. Add some JGOO :rage

Why don't you make some for me?  :bigtran

If anyone wants to recommend some icons from VIPER you'd like to see, I'll try.  I just picked a few funny ones from the Island series.

The one with Koumori giving the finger would be amazing. Now to see if i can miniaturize it...

I've always thought it might be pretty awesome if Lilith somehow was able to work with Viper characters.

I mean, poor little Cala would have a whole new variety of endings and monsters to, uh, "do", so to speak.
