Title: Production Carrera-Chan garage kit figure:
Post by: g0f3r on May 21, 2012, 04:10:10 am
Hi guys , I'm barely ever on here, but I ran across a carrera garage kit figure on hobbyfan.com the specific link to it is :
http://www.hobbyfan.com/product_info.php?products_id=1014&name=&title=1%2F6+Viper+GTS+Purple+Outfit

Now they have been sold out for a while, but they are going to produce more of these kits, but the catch is they will not start production until they have at least 10 orders, I put in for a few , they only need 4 more orders to start the production just thought I'd let you all know, since I'm sure you'd like a great figure of carrera. Let's fill this order quota so there will be more figures to collect besides the capsule figurines.

Wasn't sure if this was the right thread to post this on  :( took my best guess

If Bangdoll were still here, i bet he'd order 5, being a Carrera fan and all.

This character here (http://www.hobbyfan.com/product_info.php?products_id=922) looks awfully like Akira, but she's labelled "Sonia Sugawara". What's the deal, JGOO?

It may be a poor read on the part of whoever put that up - "Sonia" is how "Sogna" is pronounced, so it sometimes can end up getting translated that way (especially by auto-translators), and the GTB character designer is Awaji Sugawara (Takahiro Kimura).

Or maybe it's one of those cute unofficial merchandise character renames!

Yes - Arizona is right.  They obviously did a cheap translation of a Japanese page for their own.

I'd order both Carrera and Akira, except that its been so many years since it was originally made that it concerns me that these aren't originals.  Afterall, there's no picture of the box.  I suspect this is someone who can make a new mold based on existing pieces, so a piece could be left out or the quality could be poorer than originals.  And it probably comes in a plain plastic baggie.  I'm going to withhold purchasing any for myself or SDM until one of you folks gets one get one and can verify the quality first.

I'm going to try hard to get it, I'll post a review and pics whenever I obtain one.

Called the company on the website, they were pretty rude and basically said they are too lazy to look for them. So I have 2 of my friends in Japan looking around for me, it will be alot less then what that site was charging anyways.
