Title: Help with running V10 please
Post by: baxtus on July 19, 2010, 07:58:25 pm
Hello, sorry if this is a Newbish problem but I'm having trouble with this, I've been trying to get downloaded copies of Viper V10 to run for a few days now with no luck, I've tried mounting, burning and emulators like T98 Next and nothing seems to work.

I've got a bunch of different files, I have:

VIPER-V10RS.hdi tried using with T98 Next

V10.exe, which doesn't seem to be a valid win32 file, so I've tried using the CTR and SGS files in the folder but that didn't work

and a Viper V10 Turbo RS (1995)(Sogna)(Jp).ccd and Viper V10 Turbo RS (1995)(Sogna)(Jp).cue, which I tried mounting and even burning but didn't work either
way, even tried using the burned cd with the SGS and CTr files, but that didn't do anything.

Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong, and how to get the game running, I'm using Windows XP sevice pack 3, thanks

can you specify how you burned the ccd and cue files? And which program were you using?

when burning image files like ccd or bin/cue, you need to burn them as an "Image" file for them to burn and run correctly. Id recommend using Alcohol120% or CloneCD for image burning programs.

I burned them as an image using Astroburn lite, it worked and created the cd, but the game doesn't run off of the cd

VIPER-V10RS.hdi tried using with T98 Next

I'd recommend Anex86.

Viper V10 Turbo RS (1995)(Sogna)(Jp).ccd and Viper V10 Turbo RS (1995)(Sogna)(Jp).cue

Well, the Turbo versions would be for FM-TOWNS, so its really no surprise you can't get those to work.

i also do not seem to understand why you are getting a .ccd file and/with a .cue file.

.ccd files are paired with .sub files while .cue files are paired with .bin files. Also it strikes me as unusual to also have an hdi and exe file for just viper v10, did you download some V10 super pack or something?

I tried Anex86 as well also did nothing

Not sure why its a .ccd and a .cue file together, I just got it off a rapidshare for V10 while doing a net search

A second Rapidshare file had the .hdi file by itself

And a torrent had the SGS, CTR and V10 .exe files along with a bunch of other files .mid and .dat

That would the Windows version.  Since you're having trouble with the PC98 version, maybe you should go with that one.

The bin/cue/ccd is worthless to you unless you have an FM-TOWNS system to run it on.

Make sure the following files are all in the same folder, or have been burned to a CD: SGS.DAT, SGS.EXE, V10.EXE, V10_02W.MID, V10_03W.MID, V10_04W.MID, V10_05W.MID, V10_06W.MID, V10_07W.MID, V10_08W.MID, V10_09W.MID, V10_10W.MID, V10_11W.MID, and V10_12W.MID.  You might also have an AUTORUN.INF and a README.DOC but those are not required.

Now run V10.EXE.  You should see an image of Asuka come up with three buttons at the buttom.  Click the leftmost (Play [P]) and V10 will start playing.

If you are missing any of the required files or running V10.EXE does not work then you've got a corrupt copy and need to find another place to download it.
