I think we all love the fact that we're such a small community, and that makes it so we can do cool things that big communities just can't do.
I was thinking that maybe we could discuss doing a site project? It could be one of a few things, just a matter of whose interested...a site designed game? (RPG? Fighting game? VN?) A community meet/trip? Something...
I dunno, I'm bored, and just trying to be social.
-
I would help
but all I'm good for is making things in MS Paint, and that is slow going.
Theoretically I could do something with that...
-
Sadly I'm involved in alot of stuff right now so if there was a site project my input would be minimal.
-
I'd like to, though I can't imagine what it'd be about.
Edit: Ah, this is moreso asking if people would be interested.
Yes, I'd be interested in working on a site project.
-
Yeah, just what would we do?
-
I wouldn't mind making a VN with Renpy.
-
wut's "VN"?
-
A visual novel game.
Like for example, that joke visual novel I made for Mediocrity a while back. (http://hyperguy.net/downloads/makai_kingdom_short.rar)
-
Visual Novel would be quite fun. Also theres the RPG Maker XP and VX and whatever other versions, we could always make a Hyperguy JRpg
-
Let's write an epic poem about Tetsaru and his love for Nanako and turn it into a VN.
-
Nay.
-
lol
There goes that idea.
Okay, let's design a box for Congress of Awesome cereal. The toy inside could be a Gunyarock key chain that'd make little sense considering children can't drive...Unless of course it's a MAN'S CEREAL, made with MANWHEAT or MANCORN for MANBREAKFAST.
-
His name was Tetsaru
A strange young man was he
He displayed his emotions with an equal sign and a three
But one day he cried
And had cherries, maraschino.
For he realized his face looked just like Tarantino.
-
Raika: Dost thou haveth the mucheth sought aftereth gaime, Gunyarocketh?
EBGameseth: We dun have it-teth.
*Boss Battle Begins*
-
XD
-
RPG Game would have to feature Ultros and Ringo as bosses
-
Let's not forget that game maker software called GameMaker.
Speaking of which...
....
........
I can't draw that well, pixel or paperwise. Nevermind that I don't practice. >_>;;
I do write well though. And I'm good at design too.
-
Fuck Ringo.
Also, I know a couple of damn good artists. I could get us some hook-up.
-
Gamemaker? Maybe for another kind of game, but if we're going RPG RPG Maker is the way to go.
It all depends on what we decide on, Gamemaker would be fun to make a shooter with.
-

Or if you want to go a new direction, I'm looking for projects to demo the capabilities of my web game engine (http://www.notequalsoft.com/games/henjin/). It's perfectly suited for the VN and RPG genres. At the very least I could use some help with graphics for demos.
-
Hey! How about we list super duper project ideas we could pull off if we had teams of talented artists, designers, and coders at our disposal, and an unlimited budget?
...And neglect that we don't. >_>;;
I'd make:
Viper GTFO, a fighting game
VNs I wouldn't mind working on:
Gunyarock, a VN about Raika's neverending quest to acquire 10 copies of Gunyarock
A rewrite of Tokimeki Check In!, or possibly side stories(This would be easiest to do, since the game's assets aren't too hard to come by).
A Disgaea visual novel (Again, this would be easy to do considering the art assets are easy to come by).
A completely original VN in any of the following genres:
comedy
horror
parody
dating
-
I'm available for music and voice work, I'm also very good at writing from what I've been told.
Keep in mind music is one of the most irritatingly fucking expensive parts of making a game, so having an in-house composer that works for free is a damn blessing.
I can also remix and stuff, in case we just wanna say fuck it and use pre-existing music.
-
Gunyarock, a VN about Raika's neverending quest to acquire 10 copies of Gunyarock
That would be a long, lllooooonnnnggg, lllllllllllllllloooooooooooooonnnnnnnnngggggg... long game....
the gameplay would practically outlive you.. lol
Friend "How long have you been playing?"
Gamer "Going on my 15th year"
Friend "And your character still hasn't found any copies yet?"
Gamer "I know they are at the next virtual EB game store... i mean, they gotta be"
-
But rewarding nonetheless!
And maybe Raika would need to rip a hole in the space time continuum to make it possible. Or fight Lavos.
But the moral is that sometimes if you want something strong enough there is no such thing as impossible.
-
I personally like either the Gunyarock RPG, the Congress of Awesome RPG or the Viper GTFO fighter.
-
Voting options 2 and 3 on bfg's list.
-
Viper GTFO WOULD be quite fucking badass.
I did start writing a story for the RPG, I think it would be funny as its a nod to certain early 90's television shows and video game culture.
Basically, all of the forum members are online at once, all of them. And there is an equal number of guests, and the moon is red tonight, as the members all log on at once (somehow), the resulting guest and member ratio coupled with the magical properties of the red moon suck the members into a fantasy world comprised of physical manifestations of the forum and internet.
Guests, and members, walking around an RPG world comprised of the forum.
Some people view it as a blessing, others reject it, those who embrace it are assimilated into the world and actually believe they've lived there their entire lives there, this has caused people to be placed in charge of various locations, towns, cities, and empires. In particular, moderators and the like hold positions of power within the Awesome empire. There is a dark force that is attacking the members of the forum, and the guests as well...No one knows this dark force, but attempts are constantly being made to fight it. Only a name is known..."Impogam". And this force does NOT want the members to make it back to the real world...for reasons unknown...
Will Jose, Jason, JG, Yuna, Will, Bang, and other brave fighters of the congress be able to make it back to the real world? Or will they be lost forever in a digital weeaboo nirvana?
THE AWESOME CHRONICLE PART ONE
THE GRIP OF IMPOGAM
-
We shall slay the interloper! >=D
-
I vote digital nirvana...
cause then I don't have to take moar preecalcyoolus.
and would that mean that the stuff in the forum store would be like...other kingdoms? cause going to RSR world cat, (is not actually a cat)
but would go there.
Votes either GTFO or arr-pee-geeeeeeeeeeeeeee
-
I wonder if we could find the original character roster for Viper GTFO.
EDIT: Bingo.

Lately i'v ben thinking what a Congress of Awesome version of SRW would be like
Instead of Super Robot Wars, it'd be Super Congress Wars and you'd have factions like the Waffle Federation Space Force and the Principality of Pancakes
-
If I get a Gundam-esque robot, it has to vaguely resemble one of Char's red mobile suits, or I will be most upset.
Though if I got to choose, I'd want a Gettar or Voltron-esque machine.
-
Dibs on Jin Saotome's Blodia.
-
I agree with the turn-based SRPG idea, but I've never played any SRW game, I'm assuming they are similar to Fire Emblem... This way we would be able to put a larger cast of characters, instead of a group of 4 in RPG Maker games. I'm willing to help, and although my programing and sprite making skills are not really good, at least I have a lot of time in my hands.
@ JG:
I don't really understand what's your engine about. Is it like something that allow users to play a game without downloading it?
-
It's a browser based VN engine that supports animation. In early testing it was able to play scenes from Viper V6.

It's a set of JavaScript files that supply the framework for generating games in your browser window. All you have to do is supply a text file script and some graphics and the framework does all the heavy lifting of creating the HTML elements for you behind the scenes and updating their properties according to the script.
And using a web browser takes advantage of human behavior: users are far more likely to play something if its in their browser window than something they have to download to their desktop. And it's cross-platform: should work the same on Windows as on a Mac or Linux. Barring a plugin for sound (which just about everyone has anyway), it requires no additional browser components, which makes users happy.

Guess that cat's out of the bag now. I could explain it further, but maybe its just best to show you (http://mnemonia.dyndns.org/v6/). Take notice of effects like fading, text that displays one character at a time, scrolling backgrounds, overlaid images (moving mouths), saving and loading of state, and other things you expect real games to be able to do. Everything you see is being done in only about 200 lines of game script.
I'm in the process of rewriting the engine for an object-oriented architecture, which will simplify the syntax and allow far finer control in the game script. Thus, future demos will not be based on the same engine code as the one above. Once I've got it rewirtten I'll translate the V6 demo for the new engine.
-
If its an SRW type game I call dibs on either Wing Zero or the Alex (RX-78NT1).
-
So, is anyone still interested?
-
Did we pick a project to do? o.O
-
Ideas were tossed around but no one has taken charge and picked one.
-
It's amazing how quickly my PM to Hyperguy reminded him of this thread.

nice job man...
-
How many Congress members have webcams?
I think we should record ourselves doing CARAMEL DANSEN and arrange it into a video!
Just for fun.
-
I got one.
-
Me too~!
-
Thats 3 including me. Who else is in?! =D
-
I have one on my laptop, though I don't know what Caramel Dansen is nor will I look it up.
-
The owner on my forums once created a three part series (was originally going to be five part I believe?) of RPGMaker games in RM2k.
Fun as hell. And that was just one guy. Every single scrap of dialogue was dripping in sweet, indulgent injoke after injoke.
