Do you think it looks better, or worse?

One benefit of the Tinyportal upgrade is that users will now be able to edit their articles after they've submitted them.

Changed the number of visable topics from 20 to 10.

This changed for the worst.  I've noticed over the course of recent history that the Congress gets an average of about 15 threads changed over the course of about 24 hours, sometimes less but rarely more than 20.  Today's a perfect example though: I can't see everything that's new now without going into each forum section.

+ Hyperguy needs spellcheck on "visible"

I'm noticing that this actually looks pretty sweet, I like the changes.

Not bad. Not bad at all. This is almost as good as that episode of the Montel Williams show, the one entitled "Women who take it up the ass for 50 cents", it wasn't his best show ever but NOT BAD EITHER.

Now I'm going to drink another Screwdriver. See you later fuckos.

Name update is bad! Change it back!

I second that opinion.  The new name is way too emo for my tastes...  >_<

When did this become 4chan lite anyway?

lol I got it, I didn't comment because I figured it was a given. The forum name was obviously based on "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" which is easily the most emo song in years. I don't care. I just lol.

As for the 4chan lite comment I have no idea.

I like the new top animated gif too.  Very nice.

I made it from a Rati graphic used in the Lanjerie maps, mirrored it and made a transition between the two views so it looked like she was waving back and forth.  It's very hypnotic... @_@

Changed forums to display 30 threads at a time as opposed to 15.

Wow, this hasn't been used in forever.

Also, killed Super Arts forum and moved all of its topics to Lurker's Haven.

Added new description for Revenge of the D-Pad. (The old one was too long.)

Created an official Hentai Board.

Work on moving old Project threads to the new Projects forum has started.

Changed the default forum theme to Actualism.

Of course, you can still use the old one, HG_Alpha, by visiting your profile settings and updating your look and layout preferences.

When are you going to whip some icons for the portal box, Hypergai?

You could use the Link to the Past Chicken to represent the blog, and then come up with some head sprite of Carrera for Carrerachan.
Title: Re: Forum Updates large and small

At this point I'm considering cutting the blog, since I feel it doesn't offer many features for syndication that the forum's CMS doesn't already have.

I like its layout, but think it might be odd to split content between the blog and forums when its just as easy if not easier to submit content to the forums.

Added Highslide for attachments.  What does this mean?

When you click on an attachment while using either the default theme or our forum's current theme, the image will zoom in and display on screen.

It's neat!  Try it!

Added quick reply option.

To use it, go to your Look and Layout settings in your profile and enable quick reply.  It allows you to quickly reply to a thread without refreshing the page.

Try it!

Added a "Likes" and "Dislikes" field to user profiles.  Try them!  Think of them as the short bio that comes on a collector card!

And now I'm realizing that there's way too much text next to username and avatar.  I'll change the order of things around on it some so as to be easier on the eyes. X_o

And when you use it on the Correct, also known as the previous, theme it makes it look all weird especially if it's large with scroll bars o_@

The previous theme's still broken. ^_^;

Changed "Revenge of the D-Pad" to "Now Playing" to better accommodate a more varied video game playing demographic.

Yes, the ShoutBox doesn't work.

Doesn't matter, animated Akiras > all, except of course animated Carreras but we can't get everything we want now can we?

You're really caught up on names aren't you?  You know, merely changing the name of a site or giving it a facelift will not revive it or draw in a rush of new visitors.

Fixed apostrophes in Shoutbox.  Redid banners system and gave JG00 banner access.  Squashed a TinyPortal related bug that was causing the forum's database to exponentially grow from 35 MB to 635 MB.
Title: Re: Forum Updates large and small
Post by: JG on September 06, 2011, 08:31:25 pm
Seem to be getting a crapton of PHP errors on the new banners script though.  I haven't seen it successfully load a banner yet.

[06-Sep-2011 01:48:30] PHP Warning:  PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library '/usr/local/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20090626/memcache.so' - /usr/local/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20090626/memcache.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory in Unknown on line 0

Looks like a PHP config error, not a script syntax error.  Unfortunately I dont know PHP so I don't know if this is something easily fixed or not.

If this was a typical Hyperguy update I'd be inclined to agree, but it looks like he fixed darn near everything and didn't screw anything up.

Just tested it again.

Shoutbox don't work for us non-admins.
Title: Re: Forum Updates large and small
Post by: Hyperguy on September 08, 2011, 01:04:08 am
Confirmed.  Shoutbox doesn't work for nonadmins.  Appears to be caused by an error in Tinyportal's Shoutbox code.  Will either have to go through it's code and correct it or loadup a backup of index.template.php to correct it.  Though, since other addons also depend on index.template.php, simply restoring it could cause those not to work.  x)

Actually MMX stands for Mega Matt X, the AOL screen name I chose when I was ten years old, because there were already 2356 Mega Mans, Mega Man X's, and Mega Matts.

That's right, bitches; I was the FIRST Mega Matt X.  Take that AOL name campers.

And now you are all the wiser.
