Title: Anesthesia, Nanako denounced by Center for Nursing Advocacy
Post by: Hyperguy on February 23, 2007, 10:48:02 pm
The most informative article from 2005 you'll ever read in 2007!

http://www.nursingadvocacy.org/news/2005dec/01_rumble_roses.html

The image of Anesthesia in the above article stolen from my old Ladies of Rumble Roses article. (http://hyperguy.net/the_ladies_of_rumble_roses_page_2.htm)  I originally stole the image from the official Rumble Roses website.  After reading their article, I'm still not sure whether I should hit nurses or have sex with them.  I really wish they would have elaborated on the benefits and disadvantages of both.

Another article about nurses that mentions Nanako: (http://www.nursingadvocacy.org/news/2005aug/28_baby_nurse.html)

Quote from: Center for Nursing Advocacy
Another common assumption in the media and society is that any female who appears to assist a physician is a nurse, whether she actually has any health care expertise or not. One especially unfortunate example is the recent Japanese anime video series "Amazing Nurse Nanako," whose star does not really appear to be a "nurse," but more of a klutzy maid who assists the evil Dr. Kyoji Ogami in his plans for world domination (see items 1, 2). Nanako is evidently one of a series of clones created to advance Ogami's cybernetic work, but her main dramatic function appears to be to provide what is delicately known in the world of anime as "fan service." Apparently, the series features many scenes in which events conspire to reveal to viewers Nanako's breasts, panties and so on, and some accounts say that she suffers sexual abuse at the hands of Ogami. Of course, the presentation of a "nurse" primarily as a sexual target is a problem. But the important points for the current discussion are the incorrect assumptions that Nanako must be a nurse if she assists Ogami (which relies on the deeper incorrect assumption that nursing consists of assisting physicians), and further, that "nurses" and "maids" are more less interchangeable, which obviously plays into the enduring handmaiden image of nurses.

More importantly;

"Apparently, the series features many scenes in which events conspire to reveal to viewers Nanako's breasts, panties and so on, and some accounts say that she suffers sexual abuse at the hands of Ogami."

tetsaru, why didn't you tell us about this sooner?  I may just have to check out Nanako now for the purpose of updating my medical journals.

Mostly Angst.

And emotional pain that the Dr. would force her to work so hard rather than have a good time. In episode 2, (If I could remember it) Nanako wanted pleasant memories from the field trip, not painful work.

No, I don't want ANYBODY throwing shit at Anesthesia. She RULES.
I mean, she's latina, she's (As some of you so smartly put it) hawt, and she's bent (Hehe, hehe, I said bent, hehe, cool) on conquering the world through use of a wrestling-modified Terminatrix! She's like an evil Carla Espinoza! Like an evil Salma Hayek in a nurse outfit! That's how awesome she is!
P.D.: And I would also like to point out the fact that she can take out a pair of shock pads out of seemingly nowhere, and use them without them being connected to any visible means of generating electricity. THAT's how great she is.

Hmm....?

*reads...*

>=0

Ok, I'm sick and tired of all these purist conservative feminist groups always bitching about random shit.  They should embrace the fact that we males think that nurses and/or maids are sexy.  Don't dis the fanservice.  I also hate it when groups make references to things they know nothing about (especially towards anime and video games).

Oh, and while it's on my mind:

*types a kitty face*

=3

Yeah, remember that?  No kitty face.  And though I DO like Nanako, Nanako does not equal kitty face.  Fix it, you heathens!  >_<;

Funnier thing: notice how they fail to notice/mention nurse-based H-anime.

The word filter on the cat face was established because of the extreme overuse of the face by Nanako fans, thus it turns into "I like Nanako" when you submit your post.
