Well Ive been collection Viper games for a decent wile now... and I got alot of them (some Im still tring to figure out how to work them)
but for the most part I got all the ones I WANT.. except for one....
The Elusive Viper-BTR... Chomi is one of my favorite Viper characters. eventhough I only saw her in the short Viper-12 episode and the typing episode.. I So badly want the actualy game. Ive been searching High and low and only managed a few animated images....
I guess if anyone can help me its you guys...
This is the last Viper Series I really want, Others are just a bonus.. Although I dont have RSR, but the characters in that one don't "intrigue" me as much =P
I hope Im not stepping outta line asking for help on this. but if some! one knows how I can get this.. even if it requires Pay sites ill give in (so long as the price is reasonable..
on a side note I stumbled acros an animation here in the forums
http://hyperguy.net/downloads/swf/chomi_transformation.swf
Hope im not asking for something barbaric but does anyone have this in a saveable image file?? I would love to have this saved on my comp for future enjoyment. ^-^ I just love her transformation sequance!

Viper BTR was released on the PC9800 system, so to play it you'll need a PC9800 emulator and a rom of the game.

Nonsense, that's what this forum's for. I actually wouldn't mind setting up a download of it for you were I able to. I moved recently and my computer's in another state, so I can't yank my copy of Viper BTR off of it to upload it for you(or at least, I won't be able to for another two weeks).
I know JG's got a copy. If you ask him nicely and pick his kids up from soccer practice and take his wife out to dinner/etc. he might upload it for you. He likes Magical Gambler too. Parallel Serial Hi-Res Pixel!

I made that a while ago, and saved it in .swf format for a slightly smaller file size. When I'm able, I can convert it to gif for you, but in the meantime, if you save it as is, you can view it on your computer anytime so long as you have Adobe Flash Player installed. Alternatively, you can just run it in Internet Explorer.
-
Yeah I Saved it and I do have adobe flash... but for some reason I cant view it?? Dunno why... unless its through Internet Explorer
And Yeah maybe ill try JG.. What time do his kids need picked up, And what kinda food does his wife like =P
I could wait till you post it, or could hope JG sees this message.... (or should I Private message him =P)
DOnt Really care how or when.. So long as I get it.. I have been googling this all week =P
question... is it hard to play if I dont know how to play mahjong?? Id hate to have to look up instructions on mahjong.. or maybe I can ask my bro's wife, since she's full blood japanese, Shes bound to know something about it ....

Found this link, don't know if the game works...

Thanks man. you brought me one step closer.. although since im not to great with computer stuff like this.. im gonna have a hard time installing it. Im reading the Readme file and its really confusing (for only 4 steps..)
it goes along the lines of ...
1) Extract all zips into one directory and run anex86.exe
2) In the Anex86 Setting, place the path for viper_btr.hdi into HDD1.
3) Go to Config. In Anex86 Configuration Manager choose System and set the Ext-RAM size to 9,088.
4) Choose Font and place the path for anex86.bmp in there to see the text in Japanese instead of encrypted code.
if anyone can translate for me plz do help =P
Im gonna try right now for a little bit to understand all this..

Wahoo. Got it running. Thanks alot Doft!
Although Im curious. Which came first BTR or V16?? Cause btr has flashbacks from V16. But BTR has a much older setupp going on? I cant save.. theres no voices.. and I cant get a full screen window..and so on.. it seems more dated than v16,but correct me if im worng but V16 comes first.. cause btr has flashbacks to it... Well anywyas I played for a bit and danm I dont understand mahjong one bit.. good thing this came with save... (ironic how I said I couldnt even save on this game..)
Maybe its cause im using a cheap emulator.. Id really like ot play this how I play the ohter viper games..
ANywyas thanks alot. and if theres a better version by chance some one let me know.. if not oh well. (im just a picky bastard =P)
now all thats left to do is try to get as many images from this as I can. although I dont know where to begin on extracting images... =( but If I got those then I could die happy =P

I know JG's got a copy.
In fact, I have the actual game, diskettes and all. (See the thread (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/forum/index.php?topic=588.0))

I presume you meant V12, as thats where the first chapter of Magical Gambler Totocal Chomi comes from. Regardess, BTR came after the original PC98 releases for both V12 and V16. You're almost certainly playing the Windows version of V12, which was released some years after the PC98 versions, which is why it looks cripser (256 colors as opposed to 16) and everythings self-contained into an SGS.DAT file (thanks to CD media).
BTR is the only VIPER game not released in Windows format, so you're stuck with an emulator like Anex86. Sogna had a good chance but neglected to make it an option when they re-released the earlier games as the Classic Collection.
You probably can't save because your .hdi file is read-only.
Check your Anex86 folder for the presence of anexx21.e86 and anemidi2.e86. Anexx21.e86 improves the graphics quality and timing so the game plays more smoothly. Anemidi2.e86 enables MIDI playback, which is a *HUGE* improvement over the FM audio. The sound you hear on the menu should be the same from VIPER-CTR's title screen, or this mp3 (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/music/btr/Opening%20Theme.mp3). The intro (where you see the flashbacks) should sound like this (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/music/btr/Space%20Satellite.mp3) and when Chomi transforms it should sound like this (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/music/btr/Magical%20Gambler.mp3). (All of these MP3s were ripped from the BTR game as it was played by Anex86 using the Microsoft GS wavetable, so your copy should sound identical.) You may have to go into the Anex86 config to set up MIDI, and then again from the BTR menu. If you need these files or help getting MIDI setup respond and I'll write up some instructions.
-
thanks JG00, but I Have sound. The game works perfectly according to what you said about it being an older version.. So im pretty good now! except... I dont know how to play mahjong.. but its no problem since I found some where in the options menu where I can simply watch all the CS's, and I have saves all through out different points of the game. allowing me to skip mahjong.. So im pretty good. so thanks everyone!
Now if only I knew how to extract images from it or where to find them on the net =P
-
thanks JG00, but I Have sound.
Not exactly what I said (in short, MIDI sound > FM sound) but if you're happy with it, go forth and be merry.
-
ahh i'm sorry. Like I said.. not to good with computer lingo *^^*
But yeah im happy with it =P

I have that scene in GIF format. It weights like 5.5 MB, just tell me where to upload it.
BTW, how can I see the scenes on BTR since I don't know how to play mahjong either?
And how am I able to save .swf files?

Look up a How to Play Mahjong guide on the internets. Or use the saves to skip over that part.
And how am I able to save .swf files?
You need some Adobe software.

not sure if your game is the same as mine but this is how I get all the scenes. on the first menu click the last option then click the second option in the next menu. then you should be at the scene selection.. allt he Cutscenes are there. dont even have to play, but then again thats my game.. if you downloaded the one up above then that should be all..
and as for that scene Id love for you to upldoad that or send it to me ^^..

Shit! i don't know how to play mahjong Ò_O

Woah I just discovered that there are actually voices.^^; I took a new Anex86 and its work perfectly.I finally had voices, not only the midi.
http://homepage2.nifty.com/ans/ax/axdown.htm take the Anex86 v2.78 (its a way smaller file then the other one in this topic)

Voices in a video game are cutting edge and new, what will you crazy people think of next?

Color obviously.

For July 1996, it was. Especially considering how much voice it has for only 8 diskettes. VIPER's audio compression was arguably more revolutionary than full animation.

There's only so many times I can go through the scenes over and over again. Can't help it, one of my favorite viper games.
Though I can never figure out how to play the Mah-Jong part, I usually end up skipping it. Any tips or easy to learn places to learn how to play?
-
Not sure...me I went on the wikipidia thing about mah-jong.I know a bit more how it works but, they talk about dice.In the Mah-Jong in Viper I never see any part where I need to throw dice.
