This innocent young man has been threatened by the ever intelligent and wonderful loving US Government (In other words, stupid capitalist douchebags) for jokes made on 4chan.

You know, it kinda figures that he'd be from New Jersey, too. "Too small to be a country, too large to be an insane asylum."

You know there are just some jokes you don't do on a public scale, like yelling fire in a crowded theater or calling a bomb threat on a school. This sorta goes in that direction. If he has a good enough defense team to get him out so be it. If not well, sometimes a joke can go too far, and it ends up on the pranskter instead.

The US Government plays these pranks all the time though. GUESS THEY HAVE A GOOD DEFENSE TEAM LOL
Remember the Cold War? MAN THAT WAS BUCKETLOADS OF LOL

I'm sorry, but I won't lose any sleep if that dumb ass gets sent to the slammer for five years. There's nothing funny or innocent about bomb threats, fake or not.

No arguments here. I say he should get a flogging with a cat of nine tails for half an hour!
Or three cats of five tails for 18 minutes.
In any case, bomb threats are NOT fun. My school got one of those in 12th grade. I wanna kill that fucknut.

Yeah, but come on. On 4chan? That's like a dead giveaway.
You know what would have been tons more efficient than the government actually warning people about the bomb threats? I dunno, the gov'ts fucking anti-terrorist taskforce taking the five seconds to find the source of the threats and verify it as a joke. But what happens? It wasn't even on the national news UNTIL they released a press release, when roughly a day later they said they had "recently found out" it was a fake.

The problem is that it is on the internet, bio-magnification goes haywire in this place along with multi-genesis. a "simple" 4-chan prank can close pools in an instant and send memes all over the world wherein the the telephone game begins. It takes one person to use this and then go off tangent and call out a bomb threat. Regardless of whether or not the situation is handled by the proper authorities (i.e. government or an internet site's admins). Now I have seen some friends get hit with a shutdown order because they made a joke site that John Goodman died (via making a very accurate page that resembled an official press page). As to verification practices, well yes they could find out in five seconds that its fake, but then that's after weaving through a Where's Wladonianesque maze in order to find out that its fake.
I shall repeat what I said in my first post, if he is not convicted, so be it. However you don't go making bomb threats as a fun joke. Even before 9/11 it is not a smart or funny thing to do as it diverts resources and personnel (LOCAL AND FEDERAL) away from other civic problems, such as fires, crime and other serious stuff. Using the internet as a sheild does not get you out of jail, nor should it. Anonymous does not forgive, others or itself.
