"+1 for the creativity, but FUCK THE WHAT, motion sensorism?!?!?!?"
~Sorrowful, 4AM
I didn't really feel the Wii. I wasn't into standing up at night and swinging my arm around like a madman.
Mom: *opens door* ...What... wha.... what are you doing?!
Ray: C'MON C'MON DO THE STUPID MOVE! *flailing arms like mad*
(in game Link: "Shiiiyaaaaaaaaa!")
Mom: "...Wow, games = wtf"
I was originally going to go for the PS3, but I'll let the first wave (with the bugs) go by. Also, I don't even have the fucking cash for it. Haha.
I'll go Wii for now. For Twilight Princess (NO to the NGC version) and Smash Brawl (I collect any game I can with MGS whispered into it). Etc etc.
You can apparently use your computer screen for some gaming as well, so that'd be cool. I don't have to turn around to play my games anymore. xD
Then you've got online and the Virtual Console. I already know what I'm gonna download (Contra, TMNT 2 TAG, OoT, stuff like that... OMG GOLDENEYE), so that's kinda cool, haha.
Then when the time comes I'll get myself a PS3.
Is anyone else here thinking about getting a Wii?
Decent console for a cheap price, as opposed to the "We're loltaculously confident. 2 mil consoles at 600 bitches! oopswateomgnoes 400 000 unitz onleh =[" shit. Haha.
-
A wise choice, Sorrowful. Join us. Wii will conquer.
-
i, for one, will not be getting a wii. i am boycotting nintendo because i have lost all faith in them since the super nes.
-
Say what!
What about Ocarina of Time? Super Smash? Haha.
Haha, Keenon. I'll Wii up with you guys but once I get a chance, I'll be hopping onto the PS3 train. xD
This is just some temporary CTF team. xD
-
Wii=Win, IMO. 40 characters in Super Smash Bros. Brawl? HELLS YEAH!
-

You shall be left in the dust.
Unfortunately, "RAYZR" as you call yourself now U_U; you may be disappointeda bout Goldeneye. You see... ever since Rareware went their separate ways and M$ bought them out, Microsoft got with the purchase all of Rare's games (except the stuff that was nintendo-owned like donkey kong and starfox)
so basically everything Rare will not be on the virtual console, thanks to Microsoft -- except stuff like Donkey Kong and Star Fox (meh)
-
....SAY WHAT!
Nooooo! My only chance to actually own Goldeneye! =[
Oh well.. thanks for the update man.
Yeah. RAYZR.
Ray's the name and I have a RAZR (HELLO CONFORMITY LOL).
-
Wii is that wireless controller thingy?
Thats great man
-
All the new-gen consoles have wireless controllers (of course, you can still use cords if you want for the PS3 and X360. Not sure about the Wii though, I think it's full wireless, save for the NGC controllers if you wanna play with those)
-
Thats 400,000 units worldwide. Half to Japan, half to USA supposedly. If you live in Europe, forget about it - you're not seeing a PS3 until next year. There were more 360s in the NA market last year than there will be PS3s this year, and we all know how poorly that went. Good luck trying to find a PS3 for under 1,000.
Nintendo says they'll have 2 million Wiis by Christmas. Given the lackluster sales of GC in Japan, over half of those will be in NA I bet. (Plus it comes with a game; good job Big N.)
-
I hate to say it, but I won't be buying a PS3, because I think they are ripping us off. Out of spite and personal interest, I'll be buying a Wii and a 360 eventually.
But the PS3 has hurt me...Why PS3 ;___;
-
PS3 gets downvoted, mainly for mentioning both "historical battles" and "Giant enemy crabs" in a release for the same game.
-
I hear Wii will be compatible with Gamecube controllers, so that's my system of choice right now. No need to buy 4 of the new remotes; we can play games like Marvel Ultimate Alliance 4-player right off using the Gamecube ones I own. Smash Bros and Zelda will not be appearing in my line-up of Wii games, as I'm thoroughly tired of the series and their fanbases. Marvel Ultimate Alliance, Sonic Wildfire, and Mario Galaxy are the only games that have my interest at this time.
-
JG: Yeah I know.
My cousin's friend works at Sony and gets everything half price.
I won't have any trouble at all finding a PS3.
-
I think the greatest thing that's influenced me as far as what system to purchase is a quote I read in a gaming magazine that said that no one's going to buy a PS3 because you can buy an X-box 360 and a Nintendo Wii for the price of one.
Last I checked, Wii was speculated to be $200 at launch. I already have a powerful computer, so I don't really care how graphics intensive 360 or PS3's graphics are going to be because I'll always have access to games with better graphics on the PC. That's not even considering how many games are just going to be ports too.
I'll be getting a Wii, if not to try out the controller then to play SNES games on its virtual console. That oughta clear up some guilt from downloading so many ROMs.
-
i'm torn between asking for a Wii for Christmas, or a new computer... i could use the computer a LOT more, but i'm thinking it'll cost around $2,500 if i do (compared to the Wii's cost of $250, i think), and my folks don't really have that kind of money to spend with all my college fees and stuff... >_<;
-
Tetsaru, we need to talk. 2500 on a computer? That's ridiculous. Yeah, if you buy it from Worst Buy or Circuit Shitty. PM me and I'll help hook you up.
-
i recently spent 7,000 on an alienware alx optimized for performance. it crashes all the time. dont buy from alienware.
-

NIGGA SAYS WHAT!? Yous a commie.
i recently spent 7,000 on an alienware alx optimized for performance. it crashes all the time. dont buy from alienware.
Wish you would have told us before you... ugh... spend 7000... that's USD, right? Wow, man, I'm sorry for you.
Yeah, I think a lot of us could have told you don't buy from Alienware, LEAST of all after they were bought out by... who was it again, Dell?
Anyways, you can build your own computer for roughly $1500, at most $2000. And I mean top of the line. Just need to know where to get the best prices. And when I say $2000 I'm meaning like you're an antsy mofo who has to buy exact top of the line spec graphics card and cpus and shit.
-
No. Zelda is tired and old.
-
Final Fantasy is tired and old. =p
-
Yes it is. I'm glad we agree.
-

For you SNES lovers out there, one of the first party add ons will be a controller that looks like a cross between a SNES controller and a PS controller.
-
The new one actually might be good like the N64 titles. Every other game was pretty lameschool though.
As far as that controller goes, I've already decided a while back that I'll probably just prefer a cheap, used 5 dollar GC controller instead.
-

don't even compare it to a crappy PS controller. LONG LIVE THE SNES CONTROLLER. My first Wii purchase, it shall be.
DEATH TO THE ZELDA BLASPHEMERS
-
When I get a Wii I'll be paying $200 for the controller and will get the system as a nice bonus. That's how much I love SNES style controllers. I hope they come out with a controller converter within the first two weeks of its release so I can use it to play Guilty Gear too.
-
The PS2 controller isn't that bad. It's better certainly than the X-Box controllers, and is even with the Gamecube controller for me.
-
I concur, the XBOX controller rocks way, way harder than the PS2 controller. Talking about the S-Style, but the way. Let's keep retarded "LOL HUGE CONTROLLER!" (although the originals were huge) to a minimum.
SNES: shitty d-pad :(
PS2: Also a shitty d-pad (can't stand how it's so stiff and segmented) but improves slightly on the SNES' controller by adding little handles and later, analog sticks.
-
And yes, I know I misused concur.
-
I have never met an X-box controller that I liked. The positioning of the extra analog sticks and the white and black buttons drove me insane. It was a big reach to the sticks, and the tiny-ass white and black buttons were hard to find under the primary 4 buttons.
-
The left analog stick is right where the PS2's dpad is, so I'm not sure what stretch you're talking about, but I totally agree about the black and white buttons. They should have just made those secondary triggers, or not have had them at all.
-
I cant stand the XBOX controller. I have big hands but I still have trouble playing without worrying if my thumbs can reach the buttons or not.
I tried playing SF3 at a friend's house, and I had trouble playing with the D-Pad, so I ended up having to use the analog (and analog is horrible, I can't play for shit with an analog stick).
-

Then it's the d-pad that's located further in. I had the positions of the d-pad and left analog switched.
-
No. Zelda is tired and old.
you FUCKING COMMIE
SNES controller bad d-pad? it effing INVENTED the d-pad, and it hasn't been surpassed or even equalled since.
Okay teh NES did, but the SNEs perfected it.
X-Box's d-pad is like a wobbly vagina. Only less soggy.
-
The Xbox's D-pad is awesome. It's just like the Genesis pad, which allowed for seamless use of all eigh directions.
-
MAH LONDONLONDONLONDON
-
I have an SNES and the d-pad sucks balls. I like my d-pads loose (Dreamcast, Genesis (maybe? haven't played on one in a while), XBOX))(like said vagina) and in a single piece, which is why I hate the PS styled d-pad.
I do agree about the positioning of the d-pad on the XB controller though, it would have rocked more if it was positioned like the PS', but a few centimeters away from usual isn't too bad. Most games take advantage of analog controls these days anyways, so that's probably why it's like that.
-
Personally, I don't really like the circular d-pads. They are better for smoother movements, but I remember on my old Genesis, I often kept unintentionally hitting the diagonal directions. I think my fingers/hands are a bit larger than most people's, so I bump the other buttons a lot. It was particularly frustrating when I played Rocket Knight Adventures and needed to boost in a certain direction to avoid something fatal (man, I want to play that game again now, it was fun... =3). But I guess if you want smooth movement, stick to the analog sticks instead of the d-pads if you can.
I kinda liked the Gamecube controller's button layout. The big A-button fit my thumb perfectly, and the B, X, and Y-buttons were close to it so you could easily reach them, yet raised higher than most other controller buttons so that you didn't accidentally bump them. I also liked the idea of the analog shoulder buttons, where they're pressure-sensitive, but unfortunately the sensitivity only seemed to apply to the first several games that came out for the Cube, like Luigi's Mansion and Star Wars: Rogue Leader. Afterwards, it was problematic to have to jam all the way down on the L and R-buttons to activate them in some games. =/
-
My problem with the Gamecube controller is that it's D-Pad is this small.
-
My problem with the Gamecube controller is that it's D-Pad is this small.
I agree with you there. I don't see why they had to shrink it so much... the rest of the controller seemed okay to me, although i kinda wondered why they didn't add a second left shoulder button - the Z-button kinda made the controller a bit lopsided without a similar button on the opposite side. O_o;
Oh yeah, I DO have another small complaint about the Cube controller - is it me, or did the adhesive that held the controller together tend to melt out of the seams after a while from the heat of your hands?? I've had to scrape that crap off the handles several times.
-
Damn you roommate, for letting the horse die. I bet if you let me beat it longer, it would have un-died.
PS - I dont' care what anyone says classic NES/SNES d-pad still teh gratest. Also the reason why I'm getting that SNES Wii controller asap.
BTW anyone seen that GBA that looks like an old Nintendo controller? That was hot.
-
Model 2 Sega Saturn controller. Best ever. I MEAN EVER.
-
I really want to check out the new Smash Bros. and Metroid Prime 3. Twilight Princess also looks kickass, but I'll proabably get it on the Gamecube before I get around to getting a Wii. I'm not really feeling the X360 and the PS3's too expensive right now(plus, I'd rather wait out the defective first wave models like someone else said).
is it me, or did the adhesive that held the controller together tend to melt out of the seams after a while from the heat of your hands??
I think they test those controllers for heat stress with superheated robot hands before sending them out, which means that you must be some kind of hell-spawn in order to melt the adhesive out. Either that, or you got a defective controller.
-
Model 2 Sega Saturn controller. Best ever. I MEAN EVER.
Although the Sega Saturn itself was a very bad-ass system and horrifically underappreciated, the preceding statement is FALSE.
-
I never had any problem with adhesives seeping through.
I have to second that comment about the Z-button. I think the Gamecube controller had a lot of innovative ideas that just weren't executed effectively. The Xbox 360 pad is pretty much what the Gamecube controller could have been like if Nintendo weren't so intent on fucking up the design.
PS - I dont' care what anyone says classic NES/SNES d-pad still teh gratest. Also the reason why I'm getting that SNES Wii controller asap.
The NES-style D-Pad was alright by 80s standards, but I find it to be less than comfortable these days. For games that use eight degrees of movement rather than the old four, old-school D-Pads are simply awkward. The circular pads are really the best when it comes to controlling all those SNES and Genesis games, as the '+'-pad just doesn't allow for smooth-enough control and analog sticks don't work well with games that use less than 360 degrees of movement.
-
Meat, that sig is awesome. Korgoth was in Jagi's splatter radius, I see.

Guess we'll just have to agree to disagree, since I have absolutely no fucking idea what you're talking about, you crazy person.
-
What he means is:
NES/SNES = Four Directions = Shitty
Circle = Eight Directions = Rocks
-
Precisely.
-
I am definitely going to get a Wii!
I mean picture and video editing built-in, ability to hook up any usb storage device and Sd card support, ability to create your own 3D avatar character, message boards, internet through Opera browser with Flash support and ability to load ajax software, plus great games and classics!
Man, what more can I ask for!
-
Holy crap. I've just discovered that the Nintendo Fusion Tour is actually playing at my college on October 17th!
http://www.nintendofusiontour.com/ (http://www.nintendofusiontour.com/)
Who cares about the concert, this means I might get a chance to play a Wii before it even comes out on the market! This is gonna be FUCKING AWESOME!!! ^_^
-

bThisQuoteIsFalse = true;
Boo the tour is only coming to NY once and I've never even heard of the Roseland Ballroom before wtfux.
-
wow the message board looks better than I expected, you can send and recieve pics and messages to and from mobile phones and computers
-
I just came back from the Nintendo Fusion Tour. I must say, the new controller took some getting used to, but man - it has got to be one of the coolest gaming peripherals I've ever put into my hands. The Excitetruck game and the Wario Ware: Smooth Moves driving mini-game really felt like you were at the wheel of a vehicle! And using the bow on Zelda and the Duck Hunt-esque shooter games was really fun too. It's amazing how realistical it feels. I'm just bummed that I probably won't be getting a Wii for Christmas since that "new computer" (whatever it is) I've raved on about has kinda taken priority for now.
Also, I can now say that I waited 1 and 1/2 hours in line to play a new game demo (in this case, Twilight Princess). =3
-
How was it?
Haha. I tell ya. All our parents and friends who had trouble playing (raising the controller to make Mario jump, peeking to the side of a wall physically instead of moving in a FPS, to name a few) before won't get laughed at now! Hahaha...

You are such a loser. You waited 1.5 hours to play a game for 5 minutes? That's 1.5 hours of your life gone, for nothing.
-
I dunno, it is Zelda afterall. If I were in his position, I would say that the Zelda series has given me so many goddamn hours of entertainment throughout my entire life that well, goddamnit, I've run up a bit of a tab on Zelda's expense.
... Did that just sound extremely geeky? Like moreso than I even intended? Like beyond the whole "god I love Zelda" sentiment? Wow.
-
I don't care what the series is. The best game series I've ever played in my life would not entice me into a 1.5 hour wait for a demo. And yes, that did sound magnificently geeky.
-
You are such a loser. You waited 1.5 hours to play a game for 5 minutes? That's 1.5 hours of your life gone, for nothing.
Good things come to those who are willing to wait, my friend. But, unfortunately, patience is a virtue seldom seen nowadays... Besides, I've already waited over a year for the damn thing to be released anyway. One and a half hours should be a cake-walk. Not only that, but I'm sure I (as well as many other people around here) have wasted YEARS of my live away already by either procrastinating or sleeping when I shouldn't have, lol... >_<;
Btw, I had my DS on me to play while I was in line. >=P
...and yes, the event WAS awesome, needless to say. I kinda wish that they had a bigger variety of demos for the Wii, though - I would've loved to play the new Metroid and Smash Bros. games, if they were available. =/
-
Still, I'll wait longer for the fully playable version to release than wait for part of a game. It's just not worth it.
-

That's completely understandable, but keep in mind that I live in Arkansas - shitty Southern middle-of-nowhere technophobic redneck/hick territory. Chances to see stuff like this locally are practically once-in-a-lifetime events. I can only hope that Jonesboro will continue to grow as a community and support all the anime and video game lovers who live in this unfortunate state. =/
-

Yeah but I compete for roughly one hour, one way, every day to my university so I'm used to waiting i guess. I mean two hours total, I'm used to.
I just have a very active imagination it doesn't seem like long. I mean most of the time I'm thinking of porn so that helps pass the time. *shrug*
-
You commute. And driving a long way isn't quite waiting. You're occupied. You're doing something that ultimately is worthwhile. Not the same thing for me.
-
NO I COMPETE CAN'T YOU READ u_u
uhh anyways no, I'm mostly on the train or in a subway. standing or sitting down. I bring a book sometimes but sometimes reading while in transport makes me nauseous.
-
Word on the street says the controls in the Wii version of Twilight Princess are broken..
-
Broken how? They don't work? They make the game incredibly stupid easy? Whut?
-
Yep. The word on the street.
http://www.vgcats.com/comics/?strip_id=76
-
But which sense of broken is it?
-
Complaints range from a lack of camera control to the developers awkwardly mapping Gamecube control functions to the Wiimote instead of completely overhauling the control system.
-
Ah...excellent. >=D
-
So earlier today I played with my Wii.
-
I keep losing interest in it. I just pre-ordered Marvel Ultimate Alliance on PS2, so that's one reason down to get a Wii. Now all that's left are the Sonic and Mario games, but no game system is worth buying for 2 games.
-
Super Mario Galaxy doesn't even come out until next year. :(
-
Yeah, and I don't know when the Sonic game gets released.
-

Super Smash Brothers.
With Snake?
*shrug* Eh, it was worth going for three.
-
The only way I will even consider playing the new Smash Bros. is if it has Little Mac. No Little Mac, no ROMate playing.
-
Wii comes out this month last I checked. If it really is going to be $200 that really is quite a steal compared to buying a 360 or PS3.
-
When you consider that 99% of the Wii launch titles suck, then it isn't really much of a steal.
This would be a different story if, say, Smash Bros. 3 and Super Mario Galaxy were going to be released on launch day.
-
well... aside from the new games, u get cd/mp3 compatibility, an Opera browser, weather forcasts, news updates, an e-mail like system, plus (finally) a system integrated address book for friend codes in the system not per game like DS. Also if ur a fan of older games, like me u get the huge line-up of virtual console games and after that theres like 10 new ones per month...im pretty sure its per month.
Plus, by the time the novelty wears off on the few launch titles i buy, next year will come and that will bring more great games..... So Yes, In my book, it is a good steal
EDIT: oh and I forgot about Photo/video editing/viewing
-
The 360 can stream mp3s/video/photos from your PC straight to your TV. With the Wii, you need to use flash cards to transfer your files, a process that is cumbersome.
As for Virtual Console, I'm not impressed. I can already access thousands of ROMs through emulation... for free! With VC, I'll only be able to play like 25 games during the first month, and most of them suck. No way I'm paying $5 for the NES ports of Pac-Man and Donkey Kong. Also, the Xbox 360 beat Nintendo to punch with this whole 'VC thing'; it's called Xbox Live Arcade.
-
if u want games on emulators for free, theres always homebrew for Wii, with homebrew emulators for the wii, then just save roms on the sd card
-
The only way I will even consider playing the new Smash Bros. is if it has Little Mac. No Little Mac, no ROMate playing.
It's a good point t hat Little Mac totally should have been in an SSB game like ages ago but that's not enough to keep me away.
While we're at it they need the Bubble Dragons Bubblun and Bobblun.
-

Nope. That's by Taito, and they probably won't hand it over. If they did, however, one of the levels would just have have to be Level 57. (http://www.digitpress.com/media/strategy_guide_bubble.swf)
