Whoops! I upgraded the forum.
« on: February 06, 2006, 03:36:54 pm »
Not having the HG Alpha template for what amounts to a few days at most, in a word, sucks.

I mainly upgraded the forum so that I'd be able to continue to use the latest modules, etc., but I had no idea how drastically different the new version of SMF was compared to the previous version.

It's not too big of a deal since I'm going to put together a compatible template asap, but I just don't like the forum looking more like a demo forum than a righteous forum made for the discussion of dragon punches and gratuitously oversized cartoon breasts.

On the bright side, we can now use the latest version of Tiny Portal, that there news module we've been using to report of Bravan Slashes.

That was totally uncalled for.  -1 rep.

By the way HG, the rep system is not allowing the entry for reason.

The rep system entry feature not must be working because that mod's only compatible with the older version of SMF.  I'll have to get the latest version or reinstall it to get it to work again.

Can't submit articles?  That ain't right.  I'll look into it.

Phew.

Finally, the forum looks more or less like it did before all of the upgrades.  The only real exception is that I don't remember what shade of orange I used for visited links, so I changed it to white.

Articles is going to be a little more complicated. I may just have to set it up so that you'd need to be a part of a membergroup in order to submit articles, since article permissions allow people to edit all articles, not just the ones they've submitted, and allowing everyone the ability to edit all articles may become too chaotic.

EDIT: Article submission works again.  Please submit articles to your heart's content.

EDIT 2: Karma system appears to be broken.  Temporary communism eminent.

EDIT 3: I just fixed the Karma system.  It should be working again.

EDIT 4: The good news: The Karma Description Mod is working again, and is now at the latest version.
The bad news: The Karma Description Log was erased.  Now we'll never know why some people has negative karma. :bigtran

That deserves a +1 rep for the humor, but a -1 for blood instead of the flashing circles heading off in the eight cardinal directions. Mega Man is made of win and concentric flashing orbs.
