Variable Geo
« on: March 02, 2005, 02:08:03 am »
Does anyone know if the Saturn game had any H-scenes in it?  I'm thinking about tracking it down, but want to make sure it's worth the effort.  And if you have them, pics are appreciated!

Neither the Saturn or Playstation versions had h-scenes, though they did have short animated sequences and a story mode that weren't in any of the PC versions.  Gameplay-wise, I'd say they're worth tracking down.  Even though it's not overly technical or as full of as much depth as say, King of Fighters, Variable Geo is a blast to play.

Since I finally got ImageMagick to work on the gallery I'll be adding images from Variable Geo 1 and 2 to it this week.

In the meantime...

Uhmmm....

I wouldn't mind seeing an iso of the Saturn version. I looked around for awhile back when Saturn games were more available (ie, before dreamcast ran it out of the market) but never found it.

Now that I have a Saturn, I'd like to try tracking the Saturn version down.  I see it for sale all of the time on Rinkya.com's auctions.  Then again, I just bought a copy of Advanced Variable Geo 1, so maybe I won't need the Saturn version after all.

Does anyone here play Variable Geo?  I'm pretty good at it.  I mostly use Satomi and Ayako, and can throw down with Yuka anytime I need a gauranteed victory.

No clue, but if you want to make a new Mugen VG fighter I've got all of the animation frames for VG Custom ripped.  I've been meaning to animate them for a long time.

I have Satomi and Kaori, but not Miranda or the Material clones. Mainly because they're from Advanced V.G. 2 and don't show up in Custom.

Not really, since it's licensed.

Actually, there are some Spanish subtitled versions of the Variable Geo OVA floating around, and in some rare cases the English version has been torrented.  Very rarely though.

I still have the Advanced Variable Geo 2 ISO on my HD. I think I got it from HG. I don't play it, though. I haven't used ePSXe since I needed to check the dialogue in FF4.

Is there a specific reason why Variable Geo Custom doesn't display correctly on my Windows XP? I switched to 256 colors, but that didn't help. It seems everything but the character sprites display correctly.

Sorry if this has already been answered somewhere else, I figured this would be a good place to ask, though.

I think it's because it was designed to run on older Japanese Windows systems.  It really is an odd glitch, since all of the other graphics display correctly.  I wish I knew how to fix it, because I get the same error when I run it.

The next best thing would be to get a copy of Advanced Variable Geo 2 for PS1.  It uses the same engine, doesn't have the glitch, and has a little more content like movies, a story mode, and tweaked gameplay.

I can hook you up with a copy if you want. O_o
