Title: Fixing the knee..
Post by: G-1 on April 28, 2019, 04:44:28 pm
As you guys know I've been wanting to put Viper images on shirts along with other lewd things  but as of recent I had been giving my damnest to fix Miki's knee in the Viper Langerie Black art. I thank JG for the scans to help with this but I think I am in a bind as of now to perfect this.

I am not the best at photoshop tbh but I tried to follow the line art as close as possible to connect the legs and knee and the line art of the layers together.

I'll take any help or if anyone is willing to enhance and fix this

id say try to use some reference images.
sometimes you have to sort of feel out certain lines, at least that's what I try to do when I draw.

also, i wouldn't really draw the other shin, as that would probably be hidden by her leg in front.
If you think about her pose in 3D, you'd see her left knee would be higher than her right knee.
like this image shows, one of her knee is higher than her other knee.

because, right now with her other shin showing, makes me think her other leg is oddly longer than it should be.

Didn't JGOO posted a high resolution scan of that specific image? Could have sworn he did.

I can vector it if you're interested. I uploaded a gazillion reference images on one of my Google Drives if you need to look at some knees --

I believe he did .
Well thing is I tried to line up merging the images semitransparent wise to see what connected (As you can see on the Teleca the knee isnt so covered up but on the manual and teleca the shins are ) and then trace on tablet.  Usually off by some smidgen on the alignment. Then the background stripes helped and didn't at the same time

I've given G-1 some pretty high resolution images, which he's reposted above.  I could actually provide even higher resolutions (up to maybe 30 megabyte per file) but it defeats the purpose.
The real trick is uncovering that knee area. Almost every image cuts the knees off the picture - but a rare few like the character stand and teleca show the entire knee, but behind other graphics. Transposing them into one image fixes some things, but it still demands some manual edits to clean up. I've never seen a "clean" image from Sogna that shows the knees uncovered.

G-1 tasked me with vectoring it. The inner design of the lingerie is gonna be a real pain :kamek

I appreciate the high resolution scans ;D I can make out everything already so there's no need for anything higher

Well for t-shirt purposes I don't imagine that level of detail is required.  Appreciated for the rest of us though.

Hi. Couple of things that might help

> The upper and lower leg are the exact same size, with the knee acting as a dividing point
> The lower leg is an S shape going inward and the top half and S-shape projecting outward, very subtle though.
> The knees projection depends on the angle it's viewed at, it's like the bottom of a pair of roller-skates underneath the skin, but generally, with anime you can ignore this and just use a ball.

A really good and simple way to do this, it turn the leg into a triangle, so you half two

Hope this helps.

I had not had the time on doing this, just done with some dtuff going on on my end, but the LICKY part is the 2 first images are actually the same image, that means I can use them to guied my self and how and what shades I need as well, its good that its ONLY the stalkings I need to work with.

the 3rd image dosent seem to be the same as the 2, if u look Miki dosent have lips stick, there for its not the same art.

also the 2 first images have a part of the leg shown that the other dosent have.

Once Im over with my stuff Ill work on the knee, I hope I can get it right for ppl to like.

Also Its only "1" knee, cus the one I'll fix is the only one showing, the other one seems to be behine the on need to be worked on.

So I fixed it, u guys tell me what u think....

I actually used the SECOND pic, but it seems it has some sort of "FABRIC"... and that Y the colors DONT seem to blend over all. :s imo.

BUT, I will try once more with this 3rd pic, cus it seems this one is more like a picture/art then the other one imo.

U guys let me know what u think.

If you have Photoshop, I wonder if some Content Aware patching over may help spread that texture around.

Here's my progress so far. I'm having trouble making the lingerie designs look decent even though i'm following the original line work pretty closely :huh

If anyone wants to continue working on this then i'll be happy to give my project/vector file. I'll be taking a break to work on something else.

Nice work. Although it seems the bottom of the leg if still somewhat off.

he bottom leg isn't as thick at the top leg, esp on a female (unless they are extremely muscle like Chyna) or, well, fattys.

Very slight alternation. Bit crude with no slope on the leg but you get the jist.

That's just how the original looks, but i like your change so i'll implement it next time.

Other oddities with the original image: the huge earring and the long, pointy elbow.

Yea, never noticed the elbo, it does look off.

Was this the same artists as those who created the original? Her design does look somewhat different.
