New VIPER Day!?  What all did you get? (And is there anything I'll be jealous about?)

I've got some new stuff coming in next week myself.

YEP!! Hahah.. we'll see about that...

I didn't get too much, but I got both Collection boxes now..
(http://img141.imageshack.us/img141/6094/collectionbox2.jpg)
(http://img696.imageshack.us/img696/8434/collectionbox2a.jpg)

Mika from M1, but I don't think this is in M1.
(http://img404.imageshack.us/img404/1408/viperscansmika.jpg)

From V16, now I have a drawing of each of the girls from V16-Imagine

Haruka, only 2 layers,
(http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/2304/viperscansv16haruka.jpg)
All the layers, BG, Takako, hari, blush, mouth..(but no rough sketch)
(http://img521.imageshack.us/img521/539/viperscansv16takako.jpg)

Miki

This one also came with the cue sheet, which includes the dialogue, and frame by frame info.
(http://img408.imageshack.us/img408/3252/viperctrd156.jpg)
the cue sheet, with the dialogue..
the first columns represent the drawings, the keyframes.. ABCD represent the layers, which you can see on the drawings.
seconds represents the dialogue
the third represents the frames, with the inbetween frames, circled frame number relates to a keyframe.
(http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/6338/viperctr157cuesheet.jpg)

Miki first scene with her, all the layers, BG, Miki, Door and Miki's mouth.
(http://img405.imageshack.us/img405/2336/mikidebut.jpg)
rough sketch, included with the above.
(http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/1134/viperctrd16x.jpg)

and something not viper-lated, but one of my fav series. Kite.
looks like smudges from the cel, but didn't come with it. :(
(http://img338.imageshack.us/img338/2992/kitescan.jpg)

Also, I had this in my collection for a while now...
I'm not even sure if it's viper related...
any ideas, JG?

Yeah, the Mika one isn't in M1, but it is in Island 1. It's the victory shot for the falling clothes mini-game. Never got why victory for Mika leads to that image, but can't complain.

That last one looks a bit like one of the animations in CTR, from Asuka's dream where Captain is having sex with Miki. Only that doesn't look like Captain and that doesn't really match up with any of the frames anyway, so I dunno. That does look like Miki though.

Argh, I've been wanting Box 2 for a long time now.  Did it come with the telecas and postcards?  If so I'm coming to your house and robbing you.  :smalltran

Were these from the fella on YJA who doesn't post pictures with his auctions - he's had Box 1 and 2 for sale a long time but his prices are high in comparison to others and he doesn't include pictures, so his stuff generally doesn't sell.

Yes, I'd seen those on YJA.  Nice to know they ended up in a good home.  I'm not that big on the original art myself unless its a piece of promotional art (stuff that ended up in art books instead of games).  I just feel that the animation frames aren't as collectible (unless you had the whole sequence), though I give high marks for that one-of-a-kind Huruka with the Chyu candy.  Its a shame it doesn't have all the layers, becuase it would then be your best piece.

I don't recognize it but I can confirm its not VIPER and not a VIPER scene cut from any game.  The guy's hair is too long and the girl's hair between ears and eyes doesn't match Miki and breasts are too small for Miki.  I'd say this is a cel that an artist who worked on a VIPER game did for another game.

If you can give me a higher quality image of the kanji in the corner, maybe it'll shed some light on what this is.  A link to the auction page you bought it from may help, too.

Ahh okay, thanks, no wonder i didn't see it in M1.

yeah, it's definitely not Miki, but thanks anyways.

Yes, it's comes with everything, telecas, postcards, manuals, posters, registration cards.)
i agree with was over priced, but i figured what the heck.
and yep, the very same guy.

I'm honestly glad you feel that way about the animation frames, because those are the ones I value most.
so I don't have to worry about bidding against you on those frames.
I'll probably try to snatch up any ones that come on YJA, or any other sources.
you can have the original promo art work if you want.

The link is long gone, I've had this for years now.

here's another sketch..
(http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/6458/unknownscan.jpg)

I got three sheets of this, the third looks to be a correction sheet.
and they are just photo copies, if it's definitely not viper, I'll probably just end up giving it away..

Curses!  If the seller had posted pictures it would have been mine ages ago :bigtran

I presume then that you're going after the Miki/Captain artwork for sale now.  I think its a little overpriced but its undoubtedly drawn by Edage Katsura.

Unfortunately, its not an artist's name.  It's 掛布団, which means bed cover (or more accurately, futon cover)

That last image with the big bright eyes looks very fmailiar, but I can't place what series I may have seen it in.

I had my doubts of the authenticity of the auction though,
but I was kinda glad it was real.

Yep, i'll probably go after any drawing by Katsura, aggressively.
i'm going for both, but the guy only bid on one of them.

Kinda sucked, i got outbid on an Asuka drawing in last few batches,
I was traveling during the time it was ending, and couldn't increase my bid. :(

I was told it might be related to the Pretty Cure series, but i doubt it is that.

Looks like Keiji Gotoh's work.

Post by: 黒い灯影 on January 27, 2012, 12:39:06 pm
has he ever worked on a h-game or hentai?

On another note,
I just realized those high res scans of PureGirl, floating around on the internet,
the one with Cala on the front cover, is an older scan of mine..
checking the nicks in the scan, i can see it matches my copy.  Hah cool!
Title: NEW VIPER DAY
Post by: JG on January 27, 2012, 10:43:03 pm
It could be Keiji Gotoh (http://g.e-hentai.org/tag/keiji+gotoh), but I don't think so.

I don't think he's done any h-games.  Just stand alone pictures and very little of it is H.

his style is very similar, but i can't find anything of his that matches this character.

Also, Woot!! Got two more Miki drawings..

Okay, just got the final bills from both sketches..
using two different services..

Both costing the same 25,000 Yen.
One was a minimum bid of 25,000 yen,
the other was a Buy it now at 25,000 yen.

Celga-$402.79
Sharpservice-$374.97
Prices are shown in CAD.

Both are still pending charges for shipping.

Rinkya would charge approx $379.33 for that (including shipping to their Tokyo-area warehouse).  Add more for the shipping to America.

Is that USD or CAD?!
Title: Re: NEW VIPER DAY
Post by: JG on January 31, 2012, 08:20:23 pm
USD.  If I'm right about the fee structure, 25000 yen would convert to about $333.33 using the current effective rate.  It's only $2 shipping for a cel, a $20 surcharge for being over 1000 yen, and $1 extra charge for each 1000 yen over 1000 (ie, 24)

Rinkya's great on both the low-end (under 1000 yen there's no surcharge, just price + shipping) and on the high-end (over 10000 yen or so, where the surcharge aren't proportionally as significant.)  They suck badly in the middle though.  The average non-cel, non-doujinshi 1000 yen item costs me 28.33 right now (13.33 price plus 15 shipping), while a 1001 yen item would cost 48.33.
Title: Re: NEW VIPER DAY
Post by: JG on January 31, 2012, 08:22:54 pm
(Ugh, COA server is giving large post errors again....)

... That's a 70% increase once the threshold is passed.  I really hate the surchrages I have to pay on the 1500 and 2000 yen items and if the fee structure was more linear I'd actually buy a lot more.  I grudgingly accept it when I can combine with other items from the same seller and only pay the $15 shipping charge once.

Also... a NEW VIPER DAY for me!

Honestly, not much though, a much smaller shipment than normal as there hasn't been alot of worthwhile stuff for sale on YJA lately, IMHO.  I got a 1995 Calendar/Poster, an F40/Guynarock fan, a couple of new VIPER doujinshi I've never seen before, and a new in package Asuka+Miki COSPA t-shirt.  I also got a few non-VIPER related things from the Takahiro Kimura realm of awesome.

For everyone else, I got in a few more art books to sell, but nothing I didn't already have (help change that by buying some at SDM!).  I also got some doujinshi I've had before but had previously sold (the first Variable VIPERs, and V-MAX), and a nice copy of VIPER-M5 that includes the deck of playing cards, which I've never before offered for sale.

I'm going to spend an evening or two gawking at this new stuff and maybe put up the new photos and post M5 for sale over the weekend.

Here's the stuff I got about two weeks ago.  I was going to take pictures and post this stuff last week but I was much too busy, as you all know.

FOR ME:
* Asuka/Miki COSPA T-Shirt (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/asuka_and_miki_cospa_tee.jpg) -- awesome and new-in-package
* F40/Guynarock Fan (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/f40_guynarock_fan.jpg)
* 20th Century doujinshi (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/doujinshi_20th_century_anthology_book.jpg)
* Dark Memory doujinshi (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/doujinshi_kuro_no_kioku_yon.jpg)
* 1995 Poster Calendar (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/1995_poster_calendar.jpg)
* Sogna Showroom Charity Flyer (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/showroom_charity_flyer.jpg) -- I haven't translated the whole thing but it seems to indicate they'd be closed during the holidays for cleaning or moving and hosting a charity auction event in January
* COSPA ad (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/cospa_ad.jpg) -- looks like they may have given this out at the Sogna store to promote the VIPER t-shirts and Zippo lighter (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/cospa_ad_closeup.jpg)
* FACE MIX ad (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/face_mix_costume_ad.jpg) -- another ad that may have been given out at the Sogna Store. Looks like this company did the Akira costume (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/face_mix_costume_ad_interior.jpg), not COSPA.

FOR YOU:
* VIPER-M5 (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/images/forsale/jg_m5_1202.jpg) -- with those neato playing cards
* VARIABLE VIPERS (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/images/forsale/jg_variable_vipers_1202.jpg) -- back in stock!
* V-MAX (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/images/forsale/jg_v-max_1202.jpg) -- an old doujinshi I've never sold before, and one of the rare ones to have Angel Dust and ToToCal Cyomi stories
* Sogna Store Paper Bag (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/images/forsale/jg_paper_bag_gt1_rsr_1202.jpg) -- the GT1/RSR version
* Sogna Store Paper Bag (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/images/forsale/jg_paper_bag_m5_rsr_1202.jpg) -- the M5/RSR version
* COSPA Laminated Bag (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/images/forsale/jg_laminated_bag_1202.jpg) -- COSPA store bag with GTB cover art on one side and CTR on the other

Visit the For Sale (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/forsale.html) page if you want to buy any of this new stuff.

Phew.  I won the VIPER-M1 artist's rakugeki (rouch sketch) art book.  First one I've ever seen for sale and wasn't cheap (3,110 yen).  Had to outbid two other bidders that were going absolutely apeshit over the Takahiro Kimura and VIPER stuff this guy had to sell (although I had everything else he offered).  They still conspired to run up the price on a VIPER Rough Book to 3,680 yen. Yikes! That's three or four times normal price and even more than what I get for selling imported copies! (Maybe I should raise prices? :smalltran)
Title: Re: NEW VIPER DAY
Post by: JG on April 09, 2012, 09:00:26 pm
OH YES.

For me:
* A bunch of new posters (Paradice SD, GTB P-Mate, GT1 Sexy Akira, GTS Three Girls, CTR Swimsuits, VDI 2000 G Cover art, and V12 Magical Gambler)
* One of the V16 Three Girls teleca set (not the one where Karain and Saki are tugging on Akira's blouse tie, the other one)
* A Carrera teleca
* A really rare F40 paper bag (possibly used in the Sogna Showroom for small, flat items)
* A pair of F40 Flyers
* The Mercedes-Mercedes flyer (the one where she's leaning on the car)
* 1999 sticker calendar
* Five new swingpops (V8, F40, GTS LE, CTR, and M5)
* March 2007 MegaStore magazine that includes the rare V6+V8 dual demo DVD
* A few loose advertisements/clippings from other magazines
* The My Mothers artist's rakugeki art book posted above (which to my delight is almost entirely M1 drawings inside)
* and an Asuka pin (the smallest VIPER collectible I've ever seen at a mere 1.5 x 2 cm)

And for you, if you wish to buy:
* V10 PC98 3.5"
* V10 RS PC98 3.5"
* GTS RS PC98 3.5"
* GTS Windows
* Gokuraku VIPER Paradice
* Angel Dust poster (like this (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/poster_angel_dust.jpg))
* GTS swingpop (like this (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/swingpop_gts.jpg))
* Both Christmas deskmats (I've been offering one of them for a while, now I have the other one for sale as well)
* 1998 Calendar (like this (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/1998_calendar.jpg))
* Sogna Information 5 (and better, non-folded copies of 1 and 6 as well)
* and M.I.N Artbook Vol. 3 (so you can now buy the complete set from me if you've been waiting to collect them all at once)

Hopefully will have pictures by the weekend.  As always, forum members can claim first right to purchase these items before I get them posted on the main site.  Just shoot me an email or a private message if any of these have caught your fancy.

I'll give you one penny off the total price.

Actually though, I don't want to play favorites to the moderators.  But I do offer a little bit of a discount to anyone who takes advantage of these earlybird sales.  Anything I sell right away reduces the number of photos and listing work I have to do and that's worth a buck or two to me.   I'm not trying to make a fortune with the SDM shop, just help pay for the shipping costs for my own stuff and spread the joy of Sogna to my fellow fans.

Posted pictures of all of my new stuff on my collection list (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/index.html).  Over 500 Sogna/VIPER items now!

I'll have the new stuff for sale posted in a few days.  I've taken the pictures but it takes longer to catalog things for sale becuase I have to write descriptions and weigh everything.

Wouldn't be much to see.  My collection sits in 10 boxes and a mailing tube in one of my closets, with the For Sale inventory in another 3 boxes.

Pictures online take up MUCH less room to display.

That dashes my image of JG inviting company over for a spot of tea in his quaint little suburban home, the walls lined with posters of bare chested Viper girls, the gorgeous mahogany dinner table with Guynarock placemats, an expensive glass display cabinet housing the Animahjong fine china set.

* Akira Garage Kit (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/garage_kit_series_no5_akira.jpg) - Unpainted.  I bid on these every time they come up, but never seem to win them until now.  Bigger than I expected. (The case is about between the RSR and M3 boxes in size)
* Kemonomichi 6 (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/doujinsoft_kemonomichi6.jpg) - the newest one
* Corruption Fantasy (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/doujinsoft_kusarihebi_fantasy.jpg) - you may have come across this before
* VIPER: Another End (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/doujinsoft_viper_another_end.jpg) - and surely you've seen the art from this one

I also got a few missing pieces for some of my sets (like early registration cards)  I was supposed to have three posters as well but the seller never shipped them to the warehouse in Japan, so I had to get my money back on them.  So this turned out to be the smallest shipment I've had in about a year.

Got some new things for sale too, and they've been posted to the For Sale (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/forsale.html) page.
* VIPER-F50 Classic Collection (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/images/forsale/jg_f50cc_1206.jpg) - I've had this for a few years, but now that I've got a Classic Collection Box I don't need this one any longer.  Has the postcards.
* VIPER-M1 (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/images/forsale/jg_m1_1206.jpg) - an absolutely complete set
* VIPER-V6 PC98 3.5" diskettes (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/images/forsale/jg_v6_1206.jpg)
* VIPER-V10 PC98 3.5" diskettes (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/images/forsale/jg_v10_1206.jpg)

If anyone has the International version of VIPER-V16, or the rare VIPER Limited collection by Hobibox, I am now willing to pay the very top dollar for these.  And I'm not talking hueys either.  I mean PayPal cash or a boatload in For Sale page trade.

Becuase that's all I need now. :cool

Today's shipment finished off my domestic software and print checklist, with the arrival of the suprisingly hard to find VIPER-V6 PC98 edition in 5" diskettes, and the even more suprisingly difficult to locate VIPER-F40 Novel.  Really the only things remaining are the two peices of software listed above and the original "Vol. 0" of the Sogna Information newsletter (which wasn't ever sold and would be so exceptionally rare that I don't imagine ever owning a copy.)  As a result, I'm going to start collecting telecas, when I can get them cheaply enough.  I've got a good start already, owning about 20.  But I know from research that there's about 200 different Sogna telecas out there (and I've been working on a teleca library feature to catalog them all.)

I also got in Kemonomichi 1-2-3, completing my set of that series, some Graf Zeppelin laminated trading cards (two of which feature Akira), and a pair of Japanese gaming magazines from the 90s with articles on Sogna.  I also got in V.G. Perfect Collection, since it included a mini-art book and is one of VIPER series' cousins.

Of course, I also always import a few things for resale, too.  So I'll soon be posting Kemonomichis 1 and 4, V10 Windows, CTR Windows, Typing VIPER, and M3 Early Edition.  With the exception of a missing obi for V10, all of these are complete, including the figurines for the M3 set and the trading cards for CTR.  PM me if you wish to buy any of these before the general public gets a chance.

Pictures in a day or two.

If it weren't for those telecas I'd imagine you to become one of those bored kings or godly karate masters, who ponders the meaning of their life after getting everything they want/defeating everyone else in the world. :B

So how does Black Shadow's collection stack up to yours?
Title: Re: NEW VIPER DAY
Post by: JG on August 04, 2012, 06:08:16 pm
Shadow has some nice stuff - a lot of cel artwork and he's got two or three of the garage kits I think, while I only have one garage kit and just a few pieces of art.  And he had VIPER Collection Box 2 for a long time while I didn't, but I closed that gap a couple of months ago.  Of course, he doesn't buy stuff from the SDM For Sale page to enhance his collection, he goes gets it directly from Japan sellers like I do, so on occasion we've been interested in the same stuff.  But I beleive I have more, shall we say, "disposable income" to invest in my collection than he does though, so mine has grown much larger than his and continues to grow at a faster rate, which sadly leaves him farther and farther behind.  So I beleive the only people who would have collections truly comparible in size and scope to mine would all live in Japan.  Outside of Japan, I've almost got to be #1, but Shadows could very well be #2.

Unless one of you fine fellows wants to chase him down. ;)  I just posted the newly acquired items on the For Sale page (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/forsale.html)

And to make things fun, I'll give an additional 10% off the total purchase price, above and beyond any regular discounts, to the first person who wants to buy something who posts or sends me a picture of their Sogna/VIPER collection for use on the website.  And if you don't have any collection yet, I'll refund the 10% after you've bought something and then provided a picture of your newly established collection after it's arrived.  I'll give a 5% discount/refund to everyone after the first.

If anyone's come across some new VIPER doujinshi (paper or soft) that will be released during Comiket 82 this weekend, I'd appreciate it if you'd throw some links my way so I know what to be looking for to bid on next week.

New stuff acquired a few weeks ago:

* The Erumasu doujinshi I posted about above (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/doujinshi_erumasu.jpg)
* Carrera Cel Art Work (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/artwork_cel_drawing_carrera.jpg)
* Ratty Cel Art Work (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/artwork_cel_drawing_ratty.jpg)
* Mercedes T-Shirt (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/mercedes_tee.jpg)
* Rise Girls T-Shirt (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/rise_girls_tee.jpg)
* 2000 Summer Red Teleca Set (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/teleca_set_2000_summer_red.jpg)
* 2000 Summer Green Teleca Set (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/teleca_set_2000_summer_green.jpg)
* 2000 Summer Blue Teleca Set (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/teleca_set_2000_summer_blue.jpg)
* JACOM III Teleca Set #2 (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/teleca_set_jacom3_asuka_miki_carrera_and_ratty.jpg)

And I got about 60 more individual telecas, but I haven't taken a picture of them yet.  I'll probably just take a picture of them all, rather than individually.

All the stuff I got in for sale in the shop is already listed there. (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/forsale.html) I've listed a full set of the classic Windows games, V6 Classic Collection with postcards, BTR with the music CD, another copy of that Erumasu doujinshi, a set of M3 Post Cards, and several new swingpop collectibles.

Well, I rather like the original Sogna logo being part of it, but I wouldn't mind a slightly refreshed look.  I whipped up the current logo myself by adding in the Digital Museum words along the three star underline, but my digital art skills aren't all that hot and it doesn't look professional at all.  If you think you can do better, be my guest.

Although.... I had been considering a logo alteration (maybe a ribbon banner underneath) to celebrate Sogna's 20th anniversary next year.  If you want to come up with something, I'll consider it.

If I use your graphic, I'll give you a few trading cards or some credit for the shop.  This offer is open to any member.

Photos of new stuff:

* Akira Battle Damage Garage Kit (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/garage_kit_akira_battle_damage.jpg). Neat.
* Complete set of the 1998 Trading Card series (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/1998_trading_cards.jpg).  Very Cool, especialyl considering the difficulty of trying to assemble such a set.  (I had just 22 of these cards before, and I'll be listing them for sale soon.)
* Akira Training Doujinshi (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/doujinshi_akira_training.jpg). A short set of eight black and white full page panels of Akira in ecchi poses.  So rare even the seller doesn't know the artist (and not written anywhere in the manually-assembled book.
* MIKI-chan To Asobou #0.01 (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/doujinsoft_miki-chan_to_asobou_1.jpg), #0.02 (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/doujinsoft_miki-chan_to_asobou_2.jpg), and #0.03 (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/doujinsoft_miki-chan_to_asobou_3.jpg). Kachiku put together some CDs of his artwork. I already have the original art, but since these are new and reproducible, I had to get them for my collection.

I've still got the massive load of telecas from the October shipment still to scan, so my new ones for this month aren't here either.  I only got six telecas this time (mostly RSR related and none of them rare.)  I'm still working on the teleca library - hoped to have it ready over the holidays but looking unlikely.

New stuff this week!  A very small shipment from Japan this time, as January is typically very bare on the buyer's market due to Golden Week and other holidays.

For me:

* 3 posters: GTB (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/poster_gtb.jpg), Lanjerie Violet (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/poster_lanjerie_violet.jpg), and Shine (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/poster_f50_shine.jpg)
* Original Akira Wrestling Outfit Cel artwork (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/artwork_cel_drawing_akira_wrestling_outfit.jpg)
* A series of 5 cel proofs: Raika (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/artwork_proof_raika.jpg), Cyomi & Milfy (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/artwork_proof_cyomi_and_milfy.jpg), Gel (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/artwork_proof_gel.jpg), Fauzen (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/artwork_proof_fauzen.jpg), and Roid (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/artwork_proof_roid.jpg)
* And four new telecas, none of them especially rare though.

For you:
* Akira (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/images/forsale/jg_akira_poster_1302.jpg) and Asuka (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/images/forsale/jg_asuka_poster_1302.jpg) character posters

* Anniversary Teleca Set (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/images/forsale/jg_teleca_set_anniversary_1304.jpg) - I already had this set, but had to buy both to get the one I needed. ($18, 25% discount for combining)

I also lowered the prices a few bucks on the Sogna Anthology Comics book and the VIPER Typing game, now that I've brought in second copies of those. All of these are now available on the For Sale (http://url=http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/forsale.html) page.

More fun stuff:

VIPER-GTB D.G.P Figurine Set (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/dgp_figurines_gtb.jpg)
* Neato. Before I found these I thought the GTS set was the only one around.  Arguably in my top 10 favorite items in my collection now.

Akira Life-sized poster (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/poster_akira_lifesize.jpg)
* Not kidding. The poster is gigantic - about 6 feet tall (190 cm)  Unfortunately its in poor shape, with numerous wrinkles, creases, and rips. But its so rare (another Not For Sale piece from the Showroom) that I had it have it.

1999.12.26 Teleca Set (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/teleca_set_1999-12-26.jpg)
* If you like the RSR Teleca, I've listed my other copy of this one on the For Sale page.

Another NEW VIPER DAY earlier this week.  I got seven new telecas, but more importantly, these two beauties:

I got some new things to sell on the webpage, too, but haven't taken photos yet.  I got in a copy of most PC98 games (including BTR with the bonus CD single), complete sets of VIPER Digital Illustrations 1 and 3, Sogna Official Illustrations IV (with obi!), and a sealed copy of the VIPER-F50 Demo.  Contact me if you're interested in purchasing any of these before the general public gets a chance at them.

That would be one huge VHS tape.  The cases are about 15" x 10".  (The figures are 1/4 scale, or about 15-16" tall)

Not a big update for me on Friday - all I got was a new doujinshisoft, Lightning Heroine 2, and a pair of telecas. Pickings are slim around Golden Week, which feel right in the middle of this order period.

Fair time to get big discounts though, which I can now pass along to you!
* Guruguru Sentou (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/images/forsale/jg_guruguru_sentou_1401.jpg) $18
* D3-BOSS 0.5 (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/images/forsale/jg_d3boss_1401.jpg) $15
* METAL BOX GTB (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/images/forsale/jg_metal_box_gtb_1401.jpg) $15
* DEAD END (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/images/forsale/jg_deadend_1401.jpg) $15
* VIPER Fan Book (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/images/forsale/jg_fanbook_1401.jpg) $36, now a complete set with the trading cards!
* VIPER Digital Illustrations 2 (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/images/forsale/jg_vdi2_1401.jpg) $16, or the full set of five (all complete with obis, reg cards, and inserts) for $65
* V6 PC98 3.5" diskettes (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/images/forsale/jg_v6_1401.jpg) $18
* V6 RS 3.5" diskettes (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/images/forsale/jg_v6rs_1401.jpg) $20
* V8 PC98 3.5" diskettes (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/images/forsale/jg_v8_1401.jpg) $18
* GTS PC98 5" diskettes (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/images/forsale/jg_gtspc9850_1401.jpg) $24, complete set with the "voice mail" package

Plus, a ton of new trading cards (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/images/forsale/jg_official_trading_cards.jpg).  Not actually new per se, as these were from my old almost-complete set. One of my regular trading partners recently traded me a full set, so I now have a single duplicate of most cards, and multiple duplicates of many others.  I have the desirable Miki and Asuka foils for sale now, as well as popular Carrera, Mercedes, Ratty, Raika, and chibi character promotional artwork cards.

If you want these or need more info, contact me.  These will go for sale to the general public later in the week (big site update forthcoming)

Pictures of some of my recent acquisitions.  This goes back to before Christmas; just now getting around to taking photos and stuff.

Cyber-Arms Val-kaiser 5" diskettes (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/cyber_arms_val-kaiser5.jpg)
* This is Silence's game that came out about the time Sogna started, so it has basically the same staff as all the early M.I.N/Sogna stuff.

GTS RS 5" diskettes (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/gtsrs5.jpg)
* The only Japanese VIPER game that was missing from my collection.

Complete official Trading Cards set (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/sogna_official_trading_cards_basic.jpg)
* I had 61 of these, but found a trading partner willing to trade their full set for some of my for sale items.  All the old cards will soon be listed for sale on the site.

Several full page M1-era magazine ads: 1 (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/m1_presale_ad.jpg) 2 (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/m1_onsale_ad.jpg) 3 (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/m1_trading_cards_ad.jpg) 4 (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/trading_cards_ad.jpg)

Lightning Heroine 2 doujin-soft (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/doujinsoft_lightning_heroine_2.jpg)

And what's so RS about Viper GTS RS anyway?

Yes, I've bought a few on Yahoo! Japan Auctions.  But they never fetch anything so I hardly ever see any of them on sale - when I do, its usually in a huge batch of which I might throw away 90-95%.  I'd rather have the whole magazine myself (which can be worth something on Yahoo), but the Japanese don't have as large of houses as we do so they dispose of "extra material" more easily.  But these four ads I actually got from my French trading partner (along with Valkaiser and the trading cards.)  I presume he got them in that condition.

And what's so RS about Viper GTS RS anyway?

Original PC98 versions of V6, V8, V10, and GTS did not have voice.  RS adds voice.  That was a pretty big deal in 1994/1995.

This week's fun stuff:

* Raika 1/5 Garage Kit (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/garage_kit_raika_sitting.jpg) (the one where she's sitting)
* Asuka & Miki Underwear Poster (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/poster_ctr_underwear.jpg) (see dictionary entry for "hawt")
* Rise Girls "Squeezing" Poster (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/poster_v16_rise_girls_squeeze.jpg) (I want in on that)
* Paradice Chibi Characters Poster (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/poster_paradice_chibi.jpg)
* Showroom Flyer (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/flyer_showroom.jpg)
* Lightning Heroine 3 (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/doujinsoft_lightning_heroine_3.jpg)
* Lightning Heroine 4 (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/doujinsoft_lightning_heroine_4.jpg)

I tried to get Lightning Heroine 1 as well to complete my set, but someone outbid me for it :(

Thanks again to Moquin for helping me get the three posters.

Those posters look fairly sizable and look brand new. Nice find.

I know it doesn't exist, but i would kill for a PVC statue of Cala, who i would argue has the most elaborate and stylish design of all the Viper women.

You'd need to find someone make a homebrew kit, and it won't be easy.  It's her ears - a modeler would need to find a head that closely enough matches hers, and models with pointed ears are much rarer and with less variety. Or they'd have to make it from scratch, and that's probably not easy.

In this age of 3D printing it can easily be done. The real question is if there's an artist capable of rigging a decent character model.

Some new stuff I got late in 2014 that I'm just now getting around to taking pictures of and listing on my collection page:

Plus I got 29 new telecas.  26 came from a singler seller who was dumping 70-80 of them. Quite the haul but I lost 16 more I wanted that went at a higher than the price I wanted.

I do have one more item for sale though, one of the rare, individually numbered M1 telecas (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/images/forsale/jg_teleca_m1_numbered_1501.jpg).  This came from the same seller unloading his lot, but I'd gotten one a few weeks earlier from a different seller.

So what Viper swag don't you have in these two pictures? So much cool stuff in one place. I'd kill for those door size posters of Asuka and Akira.

I have all those posters (including the door sized Akira (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/poster_akira_lifesize.jpg)) except Island Vol 1 and 4 in the upper right corner (I have 2, 3, and 6; 5 isn't pictured here so that may indicate when this photo was taken).  I presume I have all of the games/artbooks on the shelves but its tough to tell what they are unless they stand out color-wise (F50 box on the right is obvious)

(https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-p7I0tf5pTWc/VM6VIEZvVtI/AAAAAAAACG4/h6kU7mNFMho/s320/sr_02.JPG)

Don't have the door-sized Asuka poster on the left side of the post.  Also don't have the Asuka/Miki poster in the upper middle or the V16 Rise girls poster next to it.  In the far back of the room it looks like theres a poster of the F40 box cover which I don't have.  And in the lower left looks like a poster of the M1 cover.  Impossible to tell what the things on the shelf are (looks like masks; maybe Osaka Prowres stuff?)  The angle isn't high enough to see what's on the table.  These are hard to see becuase they are small but if you know what they look like you can see a stand with COSPA shirts just right of center on bottom half, in front of the Raika Digital Illustrations 2000 R poster you can partially see on the right side of the post) - I've got the Asuka/Miki shift on the right but not the Akira one on the left.  Not sure what is hanging on the bottom of that stand (Asuka towel perhaps? Whatever it is it's larger than a shirt.)

My door sized Akira poster (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/poster_akira_lifesize.jpg) is pretty worn on the edges.  If I ever get another one that's in better condition I'll sell you this one.

Check this out.  Let the envy commence.

Item cost me nearly $200 and over $100 to ship, but its AWESOME. Full sized, too. I put a regular 12"/30cm ruler and 16oz cola can at the bottom for comparison.

It's my new favorite item in my collection because its something never actually sold to customers.  This was put outside shops as advertisement, and given its size and potentially outdoor nature, there can't be very many of them. Maybe just this one. AND IT'S MINE.

Well I've already broken it down and thrown it in the recycling bin for pickup so I can't take a photo, but yeah, it was a huge box.  The stand roughly folds in half (maybe a 60-40 split) but the box was still a good 4 foot tall, maybe 3 and half wide, and maybe 4 inches deep. Not an official box of course, just something the seller assembled from smaller cardboard boxes.  Rinkya then had to put that in a slighter larger cardboard box of their own.

It was so big in fact, that they had to ship it separately from the other items in my shipment. The other box was quite a bit smaller, containing a copy of Animahjong V3 for X68000 computers I'll be listing for sale soon, five more telecas for my collection, the rare Asuka trading card and stencil, and an original cel - Akira's expression at end of V16 when Saki arrives back at Anne Mitters. I don't have a picture of the cel yet but its the frame below. Being the very last frame of the very last animation of the 'good end' sequence of a super-popular game, it was rather expensive itself ($149)

Been while since I've had something significant to share.  Mostly just picking up an extra outstanding teleca or two every few months with no real "WOW!" type of acquisitions. And with Covid-19 pandemic this year, its been really hard as few people are selling and its damn hard to get shipments out of Japan due to the ongoing postal blockage.

Here's something I just got in this week (via FedEx rather than JapanPost): an uncolored cel of the Miki finger wag just before the end of VIPER-CTR, specifically frame 17 of 19 of scene ASG1.

(http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/artwork_cel_ctr_scene_g1_frame_17.jpg)

One of the neat things is that the coloring was done on the backside and in reverse. This indicates that at least by the time of CTR Sogna was using backlit desks, so that when someone painted the transparent sheet for the cel they could see both the color guide and the lines from the same sheet of paper, instead of two sheets (with the color guide being semi-transparent copying paper)

Same seller was selling one of the cels from the rape scene, too, but I couldn't compete with the two bots waging nuclear war over it. The final price for it ended at 55,000 yen (nearly $600 after fees and shipping), making it the single most expensive piece of VIPER memorabilia I've ever seen sell on YJA (other items have been listed higher but not sold.) I was able to get my cel for a mere 7500 yen, or about $95 after fees. I've added a picture of that cel as attachment for anyone interested in exactly what frame from the game it was.

I also got a large collection of Carrera telecas in the same shipment. It was a lot of nearly all the Carrera telecas, including five I needed. Easier to just buy the set to get the ones I needed than try to piecemeal them later, especially since the ones I still need (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/missing_telecas.png) are mostly on the rare side. So, I've got a large set of Carrera telecas for sale: Two of the JACOM and one of the 2000 Winter two-card sets with backing cards, 19 unsetted cards with Carrera in them, and a lone Mercedes. If anyone wants them let me know. I'll post them to the For Sale Page (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/forsale.html) soon but if someone wants to make an offer on some (or all) of them earlier drop me a private message and we can work something out for them. See attachment for a photo.

The line art is so clean. Love it.

Is that Rati being sandwiched between Carrera and Akira on one of those telecas?

The telecas are now listed on the For Sale page, minus the two Jacom sets that a member has requested.

I've also instituted a new discount policy: In addition to the existing 20% off if a teleca is purchased with a game or artbook, I'm now offering the same 20% off if three telecas are purchased together, or 30% off if both conditions are met (i.e., 3 telecas and a game or art book.)  Hopefully this is enough incentive to get you guys more interested in taking them off my hands.  Telecas have not proven to be great sellers for me in the past and I never buy them for resale - the ones I offer are always duplicates of cards I've already got that come in a larger set I've bought.

Some new figures I got a few days ago now that I've finally been able to get shipments from the Buyee warehouse in Japan again.

These all sculpted by Satoshi Iwahashi (岩橋 聡) and were repackaged later by Sogna as part of their official series. These seem to be earlier models for sale at either JAF-CON or Wonderfest (or both?) which was a major vinyl and resin figurine convention. Note that the photo supplied on the paperwork doesn't at all match the figurine. The Carrera and Mercedes models are both standing and the Asuka has an open shirt and the kendo stick behind her head.

(http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/garage_kit_satoshi_iwahashi_carrera_gts.jpg)

(http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/garage_kit_satoshi_iwahashi_mercedes.jpg)

(http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/garage_kit_satoshi_iwahashi_asuka.jpg)

In an unexpected move, I ended up with TWO of the Asuka figures. One (pictured above) had paperwork while the other was just figure in bag, and the way they were turned and partially covered with paperwork I couldn't tell when bidding that they were the same model. So, for the first time ever I will have a VIPER figurine for sale on the website. I'm going to have to ask a steep price for it though. These typically sell for $100 or more and while these were a little less, averaging $87 between the two, this doesn't count international shipping which is very high right now. I've got to ask $150 for it. I can photocopy the two pieces of paperwork. Attachment shows what it would look like assembled and painted (if that was your goal). Anyone interested in it can private message me or send an email. Though if several of you guys ask I may have to auction it to the highest bidder.

I also got this Akira figurine sold at Wonderfest 2000, but have no idea who sculpted it. It seems to be a bit smaller, probably 1/8 scale as opposed to the normal 1/6.

Yeah, I see a figure come up on auction maybe once a year. And suddenly one seller had 7 or 8 of them. I remember he had the Raika bust and I tried for that one and lost it. Probably another one I don't remember and probably a few I could identify that I already had.

Rare to come across Sogna/VIPER stuff I didn't know existed. Found these two posters in a bulk set someone was selling. The Rise poster underneath I knew about but do not remember ever seeing it for sale - the top Asuka and Miki is entirely new though: I knew the art on either side was used in telecas and promotional art, but had never seen them combined into a poster. The bulk set was 70 posters so I'll be getting a lot of non-VIPER anime stuff and if anyone is interested in late-90s/early 2000s anime/h-game posters let me know via private message I can resell them to you for cheap once they arrive in about a month. Description and photos indicated Slayers, Memories Of, and many To Heart posters though probably several other series are mixed in there as well.

Nice find. That's a crazy amount of posters to get. Would it be possible for you get all those posters laid out on the ground for a picture? I'm a big Slayers so i wouldn't mind seeing those.
Title: Re: NEW VIPER DAY
Post by: JG on March 17, 2022, 03:41:27 pm
Probably not all at once but I'll try to group by series and then try to take six or so in each photo. Its going to be mid-April before they arrive and I've only seen six or seven of them. It was one of those 1 yen starting price bulk set deals where the buyer put forth minimal effort just to unload them at whatever price they could get - a very brief description and a few photos is all I had. They self-rated it as "C" grade though so could have folds, rips, tears, or pinholes. The ones they pictured seemed to be in pretty good shape though so maybe they are all ok or maybe they just took photos of the best and/or most memorable stuff. Could be gemstones in there.

Offhand I'm guessing it'll be about $2 to $3 per poster, plus shipping. But I only have a few poster shipment tubes/boxes so if there's a lot of you asking I may have to raise cost to cover the purchase of some more tubes. Obviously any Sogna/VIPER poster is excluded from this lot as I'll sell those on the site's for sale page. And posters by famous artists or those who have done VIPER work (like Takahiro Kimura) may run higher.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ME!

This beauty arrived today as a Christmas present to myself.

It's been a while since I've been able to obtain a really rare item for my collection, especially something that could be considered a centerpiece. All the art prices have gone crazy, but the non-cel merchandise is still affordable. But since I own almost all of it already, finding something new to excite me doesn't come along often.

Cost me $234.99 to purchase and another $129.65 to ship it overseas (that's $364.64 total), but worth it: I expected it to have some scuffs and wear but it's actually in mint condition. It even came in the original box! How cool is that! I suspect they made less than 50 of these, and probably recycled most of them for their metal stand mechanisms. I'd estimate less than ten exist, that this is one of the three in best condition, and possibly the only one with a box.

The V16 life-sized stand I've owned for a few years but took a photo of them side by side for comparison. The F40 is a little taller (about 5'5" compared to 5'3" of the V16 stand), but the V16 is a little wider at the base (29" to 28" of the F40 stand.) These aren't actually accurate to life-sized as Akira is canonically 5'4" but close enough. If the two are taken to be proportionally equal, then Raika would be about 5'9" - besides the two inches taller her stand is, her right heel is about an inch closer to the ground and the top of her head about two inches closer to top. (More likely they aren't proportional - Raika is just pictured to fill the area more, since there's only her versus three girls - but its an intriguing thought experiment.)

For items of that size, i was honestly expecting a higher price tag.

I suspect that they are so large that a lot of Japanese buyers, who often live in tiny apartments with limited open space, simply wouldn't have room for something of this size. With fewer prospective buyers the prices are deflated. Those that do have the space probably go for newer games that they're more familiar with.

They fold in half and have a metal tripod that attaches to the backside to make it stand up, but even collapsed we're talking approximately a three by four foot rectangle space.
