Elan carries a sword.  Kuwagata-donar has seen one before and once was enough.

I think I'd like Elan more if he wasn't such a generic hero.  Now Kuwagata Donor, there's a henchman with character!

RSR was one of the best Viper games, hands-down, but Elan wasn't much of a factor in making it any good, while Kuwagata's one of my favourite parts of Viper F50. He has a really great unexpectedly sympathetic appeal, and he's such a weird-looking guy for the friendly uncle role.
