Mr. Daigouji won the thread before it was even created.

Daigouji wins always. We will forever remember his epic bravery and hot-blooded passion. You were too good for this world, Gai! **cries**

I never saw Gurren Lagann yet...Gai was cool, but god all the yelling in Nadesico was annoying.Everyone yell like hell!

I think in honor of the brave sacrifice of Gai Daigouji we should rename the Shin Super Hot blooded Gutsy Galaxy Gaurd of Courage: Original Generation 2, Really long subtitle Edition section the Gai Daigouji Memorial Board.

Gai Daigouji Memorial Board.
Short, sweet, and to the point. A great honor to a great animated man.

Honestly as great as Kamina is it's just not really fair to pair anybody up against fucking Gai.
And I agree with the Gai board renaming movement. Make the entire board talking about Gai and sharing woeful, somber prose and enlightening haikus about him.

Gai.. You died too soon. Too soon. Sadly, after watching the series over 3 times, I realized that the crew pretty much forgot about you, but you sort of lived on in your doppleganger from Jupiter... Who then died too. ; ; At least Yurika was happy! Wait... Then I watched the movie! DAMN YOU MOVIE! YOU KILLED MY FATHER AND RAPED MY MOTHER!
-
True the movie did kinda take a depressing turn compared to the series.

It's because the director of the anime (who is a complete genius) took just the general idea of the manga (by Kia Asamiya). I love Nadesico very very much, so naturally I bought the manga. If you read it, it is NOTHING like the series we know and love today, for which I give Nadesico's director and producer maaaaaaaaajor props. The movie, however, was more in the vein of the manga (which sucked), Lapis Lazuli was in the manga as well as Akito and... what happened to him. However, just knowing its existance makes me sad, although I try to just tell myself it didnt happen. ><

Initial impression of the manga
Me:Well, the art is a little weird but i guess i should at least give it a chance
*Hikaru gets her glasses replaced with contact lenses*
Me:RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!
What kind of godless heathen would do such a thing

Hehe. A meganeko fan, eh? I love Hikaru myself. She's my 2nd favorite female character in the show. ^^

That explaination makes sense. Nadesico is definitely one of my favorite anime as well. The shear amount of awesomeness packed into it is enormous.
