Will do.

As for the Jam and Ayako galleries I'm leaning more towards creating general galleries for Variable Geo and Guilty Gear so they may not need seperate galleries after all.  I'll think it out some more and see what I come up with.

In the best interests of perserving what bandwidth the site has left for the month, the gallery's going to be down until May 1st.  This month we hit a snag bandwidthwise(it's a long story) and it'll be ironed out by next month.

Sorry folks, that was my suggestion.  But it's better to keep the core and h-forum than lose the whole site when the bandwidth cap is reached.

Since adding a Viper gifs section to the gallery bandwidth usage has jumped up considerably.  We're easily breaching 1 GB in bandwidth usage a day now.

To give you an idea of how this effects us, consider that we're allowed 15GB of bandwidth every month, and that if this continues then all of the bandwidth will be used up around the 15th of this month.

In other words I'm either going to have to purchase more bandwidth in order to keep the gallery up or take the gallery down again before all of it is used up.

It's actually a really cool phenomenon.  While on one hand it's bad that so much bandwidth is being used up because we have a limited amount, on the other it shows just how popular we've become. This site is slowly become the site for Viper images, and that's something I'm proud of.

There's always been a high demand for Viper gifs and now that some of the most popular sets can be found in one place (RSR, V16, and in the future, CTR) it's no suprise that so much bandwidth is being used up(Not to mention they're rather large in file size.)

I ultimately hope to have all of the collections of Viper animated gifs in the gallery, though right now I'd like to concentrate on the most popular series first.

I can't say when we'll get a bandwidth upgrade, but when we do, expect that much more content because by then not only will we be able to handle it, but I'll be using it to it's fullest potential.
Title: Can't find Viper RSR

I can't seem to find any gif animations of Viper RSR. Been to Hentai paradise but the link seems to be broken or something. Does anyone know where I can get these RSR animations?

There's some in the gallery right now. (http://hyperguy.net/h_gallery/thumbnails.php?album=28)

I still have about 266 more that I have to upload and add.

Sorry about that. It was working earlier today.  I've taken the gallery offline in order to save what little bandwidth we have left.

Because of the tremendous amount of bandwidth they used up, the Viper RSR gifs have been removed from the gallery. As much as I'd like to host them realistically this site wouldn't stay up for more than a couple of days at the rate bandwidth was being consumed.

Gah, I came at a bad time. =P

Well, maybe you could put the gifs in a download for us? Even though that kind of takes away the whole "Gallery" idea, it still would be nice. >_>

I've gotten most of the Viper V16 and RSR gifs myself, but still, maybe I'm missing a few?  :og
Title: The Official Hyperguy Gallery (Updated)
Post by: Hyperguy on June 24, 2005, 12:16:01 pm
If I put the gifs in a download, then it would use up even more bandwidth, even more than all of the traffic to the gallery combined.

All of the Viper RSR gifs in a single download equals 138 MB, and with the amount of visitors I receive every day(roughly 300 on average and 600 on peak days) bandwidth would get used up much faster than it's being used now.

Because if 300 people downloaded a 138 MB file, then a total of 41.4 GB of bandwidth would be used in a single day, and the site would then require a little over 1.2 tetrabytes of bandwidth per month to sustain the demand, which is way more than what we have now.

So no, putting gifs files into a single download isn't an option.  By distributing images with the gallery less bandwidth is used because users then only download the images they want, and even then, only a few at a time.

While I can understand the inconvenience of having to download single images at a time, at the other end of the spectrum this site isn't free.  Money for hosting and bandwidth comes out of my own pocket and while I'd love to be able to have 1.2 tetrabytes of bandwidth to use every month, the reality is that the cost of bandwidth would be more than I'd be willing to spend on something I do in my spare time.

Besides that, most of the complete sets of gifs I have I already torrent on sites like Datorrents, Hongfire, Deadfrog and the like, and it doesn't take much effort to search and download them, or in the case that they're not present on those sites, request them and have them put up.

I don't advertise my torrents here as vocally as I do on those other sites because I don't want to attract the attention of legality mongers who would try to bust this site on a technicality like linking to torrents, so while I don't mind people on the forums linking to torrents of unlicensed material, very rarely will you see me link to a torrent.  The most I'll make is a mention, but if there happens to be something Viper related that's not on this site chances are I have it and have torrented it somewhere else. O  3O

I talk too much.

i second that one.

@Hyperguy
i recalled you already have 2 gifs of viper gtb (akira doing the "v" pose and the fight scene of akira and makoto)... what happend to them? are you still planning to put up a gtb section?

Okay, cool.  I'll start getting all of my Graf Zeppelin files together and upload a few sets in the coming week.

VV: Right now the Viper GTB gif section's in a bit of production limbo.  I've made more gifs than the two that were in there before, though I'm still not finished animating all of them.  The newest ones are in the Viper animations sticky.  I'll put the Viper GTB gif section back up after I put the Viper V16 gifs back up, and before then I've lots of doujinshi pages and a Graf Zeppelin gallery to upload.

V3_029 and V3_065 are corrupt images. You need to find some better copies (not me - my copy has the same errors)... or scan those pages yourself (hint, hint)

And the page_07 image is not part of V3. That's from some other doujin.

I'm looking forward the V4 post, as my copy has about 15 corrupt images in that.

Yeah, cool to see you're putting gifs up now.

Did I ever mention I love this site? =P
Title: The Official Hyperguy Gallery (Updated)
Post by: Hyperguy on August 18, 2005, 04:53:33 pm
Me too.  It's like a dream come true.  From my personal experience I can say that most sites that offer this much content either suck, disappear in a few months, are hosted in Venezuela, charge, or a combination of the above.

And what's coolest about it all is...

Though we're using up maybe 70% of our bandwidth right now, we've still got plenty of disk space to spare. It may seem like we've got a lot of stuff on here already, but given the extra space on the server theoretically we could have twice as many images as there are in the gallery right now.

That's pretty overwhelming when you consider the amount of images and gifs we've got up now.  Best of all, there's no shortage of content too.  I've got 100s more images and gifs to upload, so I don't think I'll run out of new stuff for a really long time.  When I've uploaded every Viper and Variable Geo image worth uploading that I have, I think I'll branch off into image galleries for other cool series, like, I don't know, Godannar or something. =)

I love this site too. :D

Title: The Official Hyperguy Gallery (Updated)
Post by: Hyperguy on September 04, 2005, 11:07:10 am
Yeah, but it'll be worth it. I don't like running out of bandwidth, but I do like sharing my images with other people, so if running out of bandwidth is the price I have to pay for that, I'm willing to pay it.

Besides, it's kind of apparent by now that even after the bandwidth upgrade we still don't have enough.  Taking that into account, there's going to be another upgrade sooner than I had hoped for.

Graf Zeppelin's Soul Breaker CG collection was uploaded today.  Well, mostly...

I uploaded all but one image before I had to go.  The next Graf Zeppelin CG sets to go are I Love Tifa Lockheart and Lord of the Read.

Wow, this worked out pretty well.  Almost like fulfilling a request really, but not really, since I suggested it.  I wonder though, once all of the Viper and Variable Geo stuff's in the gallery, what would people want to see most of from other series?

Personally I'd like to add the animated CG from Lovers on there, though that's somewhere around 300 gifs.

A suggestion:  Viper RSR may be too big to keep up and still retain bandwith, but torrents aren't always a great solution.  Some people(myself included) can't download from torrents very well at all.  My suggestion: use http://www.rapidshare.de

The problem with Rapidshare is that you're only able to load 50 MBs of files at a time(which should not be a problem since the Viper RSR CG is a series of individual pics as opposed to a big .exe), and only able to download about that much per hour, so it's not a perfect solution.  It is, however, better than no solution at all.  And no, I'm not saying this because I want to leech.  The only character in the series without creepy gigantic jello breasts is the archer, and I've already collected her tiny number of H-scenes.  I'm just trying to give a solution that could work both for bandwith and allow you to still sort of "host" the files on your site.

Great site, by the way.

YeldellGW: Kewl. I got my cgs of Harlem Blade and the Perfect Collection from Maximum Hentai.

AsukaFan: Thanks for the suggestion and compliment. I'm always happy to get feedback. =D

The reason why I don't want to use Rapidshare or similiar off site download methods is because they're not as convenient for the user as going to the gallery and viewing images.

I plan on putting Viper RSR gifs into the gallery again, but since many people already downloaded most of them last time they were up and also from the torrent I set up, they're not as high of a priority as the new stuff I've been adding.

By now everyone's been feeling the sting from lack of bandwidth, myself included, so I'll be upgrading bandwidth again soon to keep up with demand.

Today I uploaded three new doujinshi to the doujinshi section. :D

Advanced VG by Hime Club, (http://hyperguy.net/h_gallery/thumbnails.php?album=56) another Viper doujin by Hime Club(sorry, but I don't know it's name), (http://hyperguy.net/h_gallery/thumbnails.php?album=58) and HB16. (http://hyperguy.net/h_gallery/thumbnails.php?album=57)

Normally it takes a really, really long time to upload lots of images, but yesterday I learned how to batch upload in Coppermine and as a result I'm now able to upload 100 page doujins in a fraction of the time it'd normally take.

Not sure if anyone noticed, but Viper Anthology Volume 5 (http://hyperguy.net/h_gallery/thumbnails.php?album=55) was uploaded yesterday as well. :D

You uhh, might want to run those covers by someone else that can translate Japanese before you assign names to them next time.

The Hime Club doujin with Kaori on the cover is called "Disturbance" (or "Commotion", "Upheaval", etc. but disturbance is listed first in my dictionary)

The Hime Club with Mercedes and Karin is called "Miyabi".  Don't know why though: Miyabi is merely a name, no English translation.  And yet, Miyabi from Animahjong doesn't appear to be present in the doujin at all.

Alright, I've renamed them.  Thanks for the translations. :D

Note: I renamed the VG one "Upheaval" because when I think of Geo I think of Geography, and upheaval is related to geography.

Hyperguy I hate to do another nit pick again but upon inspection of Viper Anthology V4 I noticed several files missing:

56, 100, 105, 113, 119, 165, 166, 170, 171, 172, 173, 176, 177

Just thought you should know ^^;

You're right!  All of those files didn't upload properly.  Since I don't high quality versions of those at the same dimensions I'm just going to have to sub in the lower dimension images for those pages.  They have the same quality, just smaller dimensions.

Make sure they aren't corrupted. My V4 copies of 100, 113, 114, 116, 118, 119, 165, 166, 170, 171, 172, 173, 176, and 177 are all garbage.
And why don't you scan your own high quality copies of those pages to match the resolution?
Title: Re: The Official Hyperguy Gallery (Updated)
Post by: Hyperguy on November 21, 2005, 09:39:23 am
Because that would mean having to either take apart my Viper anthologies for scanning, or creating ugly scans which have a darkened spine.  Graphic novels are harder to scan than artbooks because their spines are much, much tougher.  That's part of the reason why I waited until I had extra copies of the Variable Geo anthologies to scan them.  I needed to be able to take it apart in order to get a quality scan at all.

About V-4, I only have up to page 94 on the alternate scan.

What I mean is...

There are two different scans of the Viper Anthologies.  The differences between them are the file names and file sizes by the individual page, though they mostly are the same.  The biggest difference is that one of the scans doesn't have all of the stories that are in the Anthology.  Let's just call that one Viper Scan B.

Viper Scan B usually distributed across porn sites, and other places where quality isn't a high factor.

Then there's the other scan, which we'll call Viper Scan A.  Viper Scan A is superior to Viper Scan B in that it has every single page from the Anthologies and most of the pages have slightly larger file sizes(this would suggest a slightly higher quality in the images.)

I got Viper Scan A from an old torrent on Hongfire.com and Viper Scan B from an old porn site.

However, even the images in the torrent for Viper Scan A were corrupted.  I essentially downloaded corrupted images along the correct ones.  To fill in the gaps, sometimes I've been able to use Viper Scan B.

Since I originally downloaded Viper Scan A from Hongfire, I think I'm ultimately going to have to go over and there and ask if anyone has uncorrupt versions of those pages.  A fix for torrent was posted a year ago, (http://www.hongfire.com/forum/showthread.php?t=411&highlight=viper) and if I contact the original seeder he may be able to help out.

I'm kind of late with this, but you know it's Takahiro Kimura, right? I figure if a fan is Googling his name, they'd be more likely to find this place if it was spelled that way.

Legally, no.  The way japanesse mentality works, they figure that anyone that views hentai or doujinshis are more likely to purchase the animes or the games featuring those characters. Most japanese companies not only support it, but encourage it.

Ah, that was a great anime. When I think about it now though it does kind of seem like a sex-free Viper-ish anime.

I think I found a few images from the Viper Digital Illustrations that you don't have in your gallery.  I made a torrent for the images, which you can find:
 http://rapidshare.de/files/11040140/_DPG__HCG__Sogna_-_Viper_Digital_Illustrations_Complete.rar.torrent.html  (http://rapidshare.de/files/11040140/_DPG__HCG__Sogna_-_Viper_Digital_Illustrations_Complete.rar.torrent.html)

If there's a better way to do this, let me know.  The file's about 240 megabytes.

Not counting different sizes or the pre-colored sketches, most of the images from the VDIs are already in the gallery, they're just split up by series.  There may be some missing from the newer 2000 R/G/B VDIs, but probably not many.
What's needed is high quality scans of the artbooks, especially the Evolution and Limited series if someone around here could get their hands on them.

Y'know JG, I have a hard copy of Panic-chan for Saturn.  I've never been able to play it since I haven't gotten around to replacing the watch battery in my Saturn and for some reason my 4-meg ram cart/import converter won't work without it.

I can make an ISO of it if you want.

Those movies I posted before I made with a utility that converts Saturn movies into avis.

Without the battery, the clock won't work, and without the clock, save carts won't work.  You can get the batteries at Radioshack, but they'll charge you a buck and half each I think (It only costs them a few nickels to make and you can get a dozen on ebay for the same price.)  Or, if you've got a spare Dreamcast VMU, it uses the same batteries.
I don't use an import cart - I put a mod chip in one of my two Saturns. Probably won't have the problem you do.

I can make an ISO of it if you want.

You could use a download manager that supports batch downloads.  This works easy for doujinshi, but not as easy for the regular image galleries.

For image galleries, you could go to the directory where all of the images are in,

like http://www.hyperguy.net/h_gallery/albums/userpics/10002/ for example,

and use a Firefox plugin like DownThemAll to download every image in the folder.  The only problem with that is that they won't be in order.  It used to be you couldn't go there since there'd be a dummy index.html file, but I just removed it so you can download away.

http://www.hyperguy.net/h_gallery/albums/batch_upload/ remains a downloads bonanza.

Of course, the real solution to the problem would be to delete each gallery and replace it with a zip upload.  I just wish I had the time to go through all of them and do that. >_>;;;
