Title: VIPER Girl of the Year 2009 (VGOTY2009) Online Poll

So just who is the most popular VIPER girl?

Over the next six and a half weeks, we'll find out here.  Sixty-four of the most significant VIPER girls have been seeded into a tournament bracket, similar to those that most Americans (and some of you non-Americans) may be used to around this time of year.  Week by week we'll eliminate half the field in 1-on-1 showdowns until we crown a champion.

The 64 girls have been ranked based on general popularity and recognition, with a slight edge given to those that have large fan bases on this forum (which explains why Miki is a #1 seed instead of Asuka.)  The overall #1 will face #64 in the first round, #2 faces #63, and so on down the line.  There has been no reordering beyond the initial ranking so don't accuse me of giving any particular character(s) a harder or easier path to the championship.  The only bias involved is where I felt a character was ranked in relation to others, not which bracket they're in or who they would face in early rounds.

Some additional information of note:
* All polls will be set for 7 days and results will be hidden until the poll ends. EDIT: There seems to be a problem with the forum regarding hiding posts after voting, so what I previously said isn't exactly true.  Sue me.
* In the event of a tie, the higher seed will advance.
* The first round will be split across 4 days and the second round across 2 so as not to flood the forum with polls.  Beginning with the third round, all matchups will begin on the same day.
* There are four divisions, each seeded 1 through 16.  There is no rhyme or reason to the makeup of these divisions and characters from the same series are, in most cases, spread across multiple divisions as a result of the rank-seeding algorithm.  For semifinals, the Red division champion will face the Blue division champion, and Green's will face Purple's.
* Feel free to argue for (or against) certain characters, comment on your favorite matchups, which bracket is best (or worst), or rant about who got a lousy seed or matchup.

Maybe they'll end up facing each other at the bracket's neck.  In a lightsaber battle.

Acutally, all of these versus matches and crossovers are excellent fodder for what-ifs and fan works.  If only we could have Narsha vs. Gel every day!

Thats just the way it worked out in the seeding algorithm.  Other series faired little better though: Rise ended up with three of its six girls in the same bracket and F40 got its two primary characters in the same bracket.

Ya know there's probably less than three members on this forum who would even know half of the Viper women on the polls.

It'd be far better if you had a picture of each girl getting raped to accompany the match-ups.

Yes.  Each poll is a seperate vote.  (So you have up to 32 selections to make in round 1, 16 in round 2, etc.)

Rats, wish I noticed this sooner. There are a few less popular girls I would have given another vote to, for all the good it would have done. Crea, Kumi, Kaoru, Shine, Sylvia, and Betty are all gals I would have supported and they would have lost anyway. But damn, I could have broken the tie in Sheila's favor!

I'm going to root for Mika to win. I think she can at least make it up to Akira in the quarter-finals.

Due to a death in the family (an uncle) I'll be unable to start the final round right immediately after the semifinals close Tuesday evening.  My original intention was to start the third place contest Tuesday night, and the final on Wednesday night, so this is not a huge setback.  More than likely, the third place match may just start an hour or two later than expected, as I should be back home by 11pm EST, or in worse case scenario, be pushed back to Wednesday night as well.  The timing for the final should not be impacted and will still run Wednesday the 22nd to Wendesday the 29th.

I just noticed this site has a lot of the color red going around.  Whether it be the red banners or the flaming hair on Hyperguy's Overlord, it's undeniable there's a theme going around.

Lost to eventual runner-up Cala in the quarterfinal round.

This year's seeding will ensure no characters in the rounds of 16 and 8 will face opponents they faced last time. Characters from the same series are also more evenly distributed to attempt to meet up as late as possible.  2009's voting records were used as the primary basis for seeding.
Julietta is almost certainly the greatest recipient of these changes, but whether or not she'll go farther is questionable.  She's a #2 seed now so she'd still have to knock off the #1 in her division to advance farther this year (or get help from someone like the #4 or #5)

Julietta is actually one of the board's favorites. She's not quite at the top with Miki and Cala, but easily in the second tier.
