My game: Ice Cream Run on the iOS!
« on: March 11, 2011, 10:49:53 am »
Not sure if this should go in the "Now Playing" forum, but it is original content, so...

The game I've been working with some friends has finally been released! To be honest, it's quite simple, and we're not expecting huge sales for it, but I thought I might as well advertise it here =] It's available for iPad and iPod/iPhone 3G and later.

In the game you control an ice cream truck, and must stop the fatties that want to get to your factory and steal your ice cream. To stop them, you have to shoot ice cream at them. For the full description you can go to its itunes page: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/ice-cream-run/id423428049

Here are some screenshots (hope this works):

If you do buy, please rate it ^^

Shame its not for Android or I'd give it a whirl.

You also need to explain how Mayor McCheese got himself a hoveround (and two clones) and why Comic Book Guy from the Simpsons sports a lightsaber.

We plan on porting it to the android in the future, but the main problem is we don't have an android device lol That and the license of our SDK for android is $100. Do you if it's free to launch a game in android? Apple requires a annual membership of $100, and get 30% of our sales...

And you're right about the comic book guy from simpsons, but the one in the eletric wheelchair is just an old lady =P

I'ts free to publish to Android Marketplace and to my knowledge Google gets 0%.  You can also provide installs outside of the Marketplace.  Plus its a one time cost for the SDK (though I presume every year you'd need a new version to keep up with Android releases)  There may also be alternate SDKs available for free.

Apple makes you pay $97 yearly for the SDK, has modified thier usage contract to expressly forbid all other SDKs, and immediately cancels your app store window if you don't comply with thier numerous policies. Plus you can only install apps via iTunes App Store.

Microsoft on the otherhand costs nothing for the SDK and doesn't require a marketplace to install apps.  Its the most open development environment right now but its lagging far behind the leaders in market share.
