Author Topic: Congress of Awesome to get its own domain name (Read 11126 times)

The Congress of Awesome is easily the most popular feature of Hyperguy.net and I'd like to legitimize it further by giving it its own domain name. Thing is, I'd like some feedback from the community as far as what its domain name should be. There aren't any other Congress of Awesomes (that we know about) so the full spectrum of domain extensions is available (.com, .net, .org), but since we've yet to forge our own country/steal land we're can't score a .gov(yet).

The strongest candidate so far is of course congressofawesome.net, though because that might be too long I'm also considering awesomecongress.net. Or fuck, we could rename the whole thing to bangdollisland.com. coawesome.net is also being considered for brevity, plus its catchy(CoAwesome.net has the site's initials right in the name).

I'm going to set this all up this weekend, but hey, wanted to consider the community's opinion beforehand.

As of this writing all coa domain names have been taken. By whom? Your guess is as good as mine. Probably by the Cancer Orators of America for all I know.

I do not like awesomecongress.net - that puts the name backwards. And coawesome.net seems a little vague. I push for the full congressofawesome.net - its a little lengthy but most people get to websites through links or bookmarks, not by typing in a URL (except when on someone else's computer, in which case you want something memorable)

It was open when I checked it. So instead of coa.net I would go with congressofawesome.net

It was a close race, but in the end ~~Obama won~~congressofawesome.net, though it be kinda long, has been selected for the Congress of Awesome's domain name. It really is a great name in that its memorable and ends in .net.

This is just the first step towards proliferation. The domain name should be active within 48 hours, afterwhich I'll do some site reconstruction to make sure files are in their place(Don't worry, I'll make a backup this time.).

Awesome, quite literally. However, I was kinda pulling for bangdollisland in the end there, just to see what BangDoll would do and what sort of traffic we would get.

This is the site!

...But, it still looks more like a forum with a few addons than a fully fledged community site. Some modifactions to the news pages and blocks are in order.

As of this writing, congressofawesome.net is registered but not fully propagated. If you go there now it'll take you to that bullshit sedoparking page my domain registrar owns.
