Soundracks for awesome old games
« on: February 10, 2008, 01:58:06 pm »
OK
If you have soundtrack files for old games put 'em up here so we all can get at them.

I would be first, but I don't know how to get files up here. Srsly.

Also, they are all .rsn files, which is some weird compressed format. Open them with Winamp and then you should be able to listen to all the individual tracks.

So halp upload plx?

Just tried downloading DKC2, and the download went fine, so no worries there. I have to ask though: What programs run this kind of file? I've never seen an RSN file before. =\

Winamp worked for me

http://www.winamp.com/

yes, it is free

I hope that does it, or I'll have to somehow extract each track (something Winamp refused to cooperate with) and upload them all. :P
thats somewhere in the neighborhood of 150 files.

I've had winamp on past computers, and haven't had much reason to add it to this one (yet). I'll try it out in iTunes and see how it works.

Why would you ever not use Winamp.

I mean it's not like your alternative is SoundJam MP.  No, your alternative is iTunes.

It's the default player on this computer, which was built from parts one of my computer-savvy friends had lying about (and it actually is better than what I WAS running). So far I haven't been motivated to not use it.

It's a PC. Not sure why it has iTunes on it, but yeah.

Has anyone been able to actually open the files and listen to the tracks?

I want to know if this whole kebab worked.

Even better Xierfrogs:

http://www.zophar.net/music.html

This site has direct rips of games soundtracks. though you'll need some extra downloads to play the files. I myself get all the Winamp plugins and just use those, so I can use Winamp for everything.

Get the plugins in the utilities section, just look for the decriptions that mention Winamp or so:
http://www.zophar.net/utilities/music.html

That's where I get tons of my stuff. :)

Go with this.  Most of my downloads came from Zophar's.  Bastard stole my thunder.
Then again I could have sworn AudioOverload had some links to spc packs and nsf's I couldn't find on even zophar's >_>

I haven't taken the time to look through this site, as it seems pretty extensive, but YTF linked me to it a long time ago:

My thunders:

it has been stolen.

But thanks for finding places to get sounds that doesn't involve stupid file extensions.

That reminds me of the other day, I was in the airship minding my own business, playing some Go Fish, (Its my favourite game, I'm sure you understand.) with my buddy Chupon, when Setzer wanted in the game and took all our money in a few hands! I'm pretty sure he was cheating, that guy is such a card.
A guy walks into a bar...ouch.
